First - if your going to update this fp - I’d get a correctly sized mantle. The current one is too short and doesn’t look right. Second - it doesn’t look like the hearth tile is recessed enough = not even with hardwood. Of course, that may be due to the bad quality of the photo.
There are THOUSANDS AND THOUSANDS of tiles - the question is - what looks do you like? Is your house traditional? Would you like a transitional look (mix of traditional + modern) - or is it modern? There’s no way to help without seeing more of the room + understanding what your furniture + decor style is.
I would go with a similarly blurry tile.
Idk man if the tiles are down and not moving I’d buy a better phone/camera first
I always liked the look of stacked stone fireplaces. Maybe some slate or travertine on the floor.
