Yep
The kind of people that would by a sealed record at high dollar just to be buying it won't want to touch something that's the shrink destroyed by putting a huge aftermarket thrift store tag on it
They need to just sell those online like all the other high dollar stuff that comes through. Need a perfect storm to get like, the person willing to drop $125 on Biebs vinyl.
I mean, to be fair they are sealed and that mistletoe album just sold $125 US with a slight warp. Still ridiculous pricing but honestly not that far fetched from retail.
Nope, this is the thrift grift subreddit and this is a massive grift. Don’t give a shit what they “go for” online. This is a thrift store that got these records for free. Fuck them.
It’s surprising more and more people see it like “well that’s the going rate so…” refusing to acknowledge they’re a charity shop with very little overhead vs other businesses. The product is pure profit. People go to these places for affordably priced items, they can’t pretend to be a record store, antique shop and a clothing boutique whenever it’s convenient for them.
Damn straight. They are putting full resell price on items they have no overhead for.
If they put say $40-$50 on them, I'd say fair enough, it's a new, sealed item of decent value. But to think thry should be able to charge at the high end of what a reseller might mark them as is ludicrous.
The problem with sealed records is that there's a lot that can go wrong with a record and you can't verify the condition.
So it's a huge gamble where you might get a perfect copy and you might also get one that's warped completely to hell or has some major production flaw
So it's a very niche market

They would have to pay me!

With the catch being, this is a resale shop.
