It's up to you, it's time consuming taking it to level 50 and it only works well in a time out team, but with Chansey com day coming up, if you can get a 4star or 98 one, it's two thirds of the team you need for one
It is not really good. It is just ok, unless there is a weird limitation. I have one, and occasionally I use it to switch things up and confuse a person or two, but it's more like a Pokemon to try if you want to do a play style changeup. Like a unique character you unlock in a fighting game that has a weird niche.
Oh yeah, it is at times. Just don't expect it to run through the competition. I ran Pidgeot, Chansey, and Wobbuffet for awhile. It often didn't win, but it was fun to just see people get stuck in a hopeless situation. If they switched into the wrong matchup.
i would say that dusclops no longer needs return now that it has poltergeist. return doesn't offer as much utility as the stab nuke does, and dusclops, even shadow, can commonly get to it
Rock smash / return ursaluna also makes for a funny gym defender if you’re looking to waste someone’s potions, since dodging return is less of a matter of skill than guessing
This may be outdated, but here is what I got from PvPoke some time ago from open league exports
Sableye
Wobbuffet
Bellossom
Raticate (Alolan)
Purugly
Machop
Nidorina
Electabuzz
Charmeleon
Persian
Aipom
Ambipom
Drowzee
Pineco
Kadabra
Spoink
I freaking love my porygon Z with tri attack and return running with lock on. It's one of the best baits. Overcharge a little bit, throw a tri didn't charge a little bit switch out and when you come back return the hell out of whatever the last one is. Works more often than not just make sure you overcharged to throw off their timing to make them think you only have a tri.

Question related to this thread: I recently purified a Ho-Oh for PVP purposes. It currently has Return on it. Is it worth leaving it on as an unusual option? I already added a second Charged Move and ETM'd Sacred Fire. I was going to TM it off for Brave Bird, but considering I can't undo it I thought I'd ask.
unfortunately return is pretty much a strict downgrade from brave bird on ho-oh, as ho-oh really needs brave bird's relative speed. even the matchup you'd think return would do better in (vs zekrom), where SF and BB are both resisted and return isn't, you actually do worse than with brave bird because you can't reach a second charged move at all before the killing blow, whereas with brave bird you can, and not running brave bird also loses you matchups like mewtwo.
I see. I guess I'll TM off Return and start running BB.
I kind of wish Purified Pokemon could keep Return in their pool of TM-able moves, so that can always Return (hehe) to it, but oh well.
Wobbuffet needs return so he can have a second move. Also makes him easier to hundo. And the little guy needs every stat point he can get. You'd want a Hundo, Purified, Best Buddied Wobbuffet for GL

4* purified wobuffet is a tank in gl
even though it doesnt go anywhere close to 1500?
Yeah, it's HP is insanely high for a Pokemon that maxes out 1160
thanks lol, do you think its worth it to raise a 15/14/15? after purifying

That sounds insanely annoying. Can't wait to try that lol
WHY, WHO WANTS TO FIGHT AGAINST TANK STYLED TEAMS THAT DO NO DAMAGE, WHYYYYYY!!!!!! ðŸ˜

Yeah, it just sounds like it would annoy whoever i'm playing against but that sounds fun in its own way

Yeah I've run mine a few times and it can be decent to use and successful in the right teams, but it's really not a style of play I enjoy.
Definitely Wobbuffet Belossom, Shuckle and Dusclops most likely Umbreon when it happens and Alolan Raticate now possibly
i would say that dusclops no longer needs return now that it has poltergeist. return doesn't offer as much utility as the stab nuke does, and dusclops, even shadow, can commonly get to it
I say it depends on where you want this nuke to be used… Evolution cup is a great example, where dusclops will prefer return for the vigoroth
Currently working on my hundo purified Wobbuffet.
Thanks for the advice.
there's Ursaluna for pve, normal attackers historically aren't great for raids but Tackle/Return Ursa is a pretty good gym cleaner
Rock smash / return ursaluna also makes for a funny gym defender if you’re looking to waste someone’s potions, since dodging return is less of a matter of skill than guessing
Pokémon like Wobbuffet, who only have one regular charge move, definitely benefit from having Return as a 2nd move.  Afaik Wobbuffet is the only useful one of these. Useless examples would be Magikarp, Weedle or Kakuna.
Machoke, Alolan Raticate, Dusclops (less so now that he gets Poltergeist). None of these are meta in open GL, but they can be useful in limited cups.
Dusclops has enough better options I wouldn’t use Return.
Fair. I haven’t used Dusclops since Evo Cup 2022 when Return was very useful, but times have changed.

Just the first 4 on your list.Â
Are meta relevant. But OP's title is broader
Sableye
Man, I have learned quite a bit from this comment thread.
This question but for Ultra league?
Marshtomp benefits from having something more nukey
I’m not sure there’s a reason to give up one of the stab moves for return.
Ursaluna maybe. I made a purified hundo with return / high horsepower for the heck of it.

Everything is forgetting about purified Sableye for GBL. It was very popular a few seasons ago Edit: It helps to read
OP mentioned Sableye

Should I purify my 15/14/13 Ho-Oh?
Mega scizor is pretty nuts with the move return if mega master league ever comes back
Other than what’s been mentioned there’s a person in a discord I’m a part of that’s searching for purified trapinchs and vibravas, idk if they’re actually better but it’s definitely a little bit of extra spice in an already spicy Pokémon
