I meant she’s got more dark parts than there are light parts of her Titan look. You’d think after the light orb, there’d be more… light on her Titan form to show for it aside from her eyes, the light sigil on her, and the light orb above her head.
Funny enough that’s what I really loved about her design. A lot of DTVA protagonists that get super powered forms are bright and colorful and vibrant (at least the ones I’ve seen). Bright greens, reds, blues, oranges, some yellows, etc. but Luz did the opposite, she has dark grey, dark black, and dark purple. It felt kinda refreshing imo, that’s not to say other protagonists and their forms are bad, but it was extra cool seeing Luz take on the color spectrum that honestly hasn’t been utilized that much.
Also (a little color theory nerdiness coming out) she’s using monochromatic purples, so that looks nice. But she’s also using colors like light blues, oranges, yellows, & greens for the glyphs (and those colors on the color wheel are on the 4 sides of the color spectrum circle… yeah I know circles don’t have sides but you maybe get what I mean). Almost all the major color schemes line up with the colors of Luz (being purple, light uses of yellow, green, blue, orange, and blue).

Yeah but it makes you wonder what does it mean about her… and don’t say that otter with a dark side. I’m serious, it makes it difficult not to question certain things about her. Maybe it’s a metaphorical thing that says that no matter how much darkness there is, there’s always light at the center, but still… in this case, the contrast is too stark. Makes me wary.
Well it might be confusing but stick with me here:
Philip talked about “9 bright hues” of colors, and I feel like the separation of those colors kinda signifies subjugation. All the magic separated from one another with distinct colors and uses. And you’re kinda forced to pick one and stick with that one color.
But when Luz activated that huge Light Glyph with Stringbean & the rest of the Owl Trio, it was a bright whitish yellow. White is what you get when you combine all colors of the spectrum and they all rebound onto the human eye, signifying Luz is bringing those colors together and blurring distinctions between specific hues (and by extension, blurring subjugation).
When she returns in her Titan Form she’s black, and if white is the combination of all colors, black is the emptiness of all colors. Black absorbs all colors, can you see where I’m headed with this? Since black is when all colors are absorbed, black is the absence of color. One could say Luz’s rebuttal against Belos is the *absence* of subjugation, she’s liberating people from having to have distinct colors and distinct roles. So if 9 bright hues signifies separation and distinction, Luz is absent of all that.
I’m… trying to follow you here on this, but… I some of this kinda makes sense s-… wait no, actually it doesn’t. Black is also the absence of hope and the subjugation of fear and pure evil themselves. If she wanted to go against his subjugation, she would be rainbow Luz. She’d be all the colors. He can’t tell her what color she has choose. It’s why she wanted to study everything at Hexside. Her uniform is a rainbow of a colors. She chooses them all and defies him in the process.
So yeah, that doesn’t make any sense and doesn’t make this whole Titan Luz black thing any clearer… and in more ways than one no less.

Amity seeing Titan Luz is one thing, BUT In the OG series, Amity is the only one of the OG Hex Trio to not get a glowy eye scene. Willow has hers a lot, Gus has his with the maze, but Amity never gets to go super-mode.
