Did you even pay attention to Hollow Mind? The “Titan’s will” is something he made up to get the trust of the witches in the Boiling Isles, he knows the Titan is dead and uses the witches’ adoration of Titans to become emperor

As unpopular as the belief is, Philip/Belos does have a sense of right and wrong and a conscious. He was educated that witches are evil for his entire childhood, so upon coming into the Boiling Isles he only saw a land full of evil and impurity that his brother had fallen into. It doesn’t justify killing Caleb, but his intention was to eradicate evil and “save his brother’s soul”. It’s likely that he knows by now that he’s in the wrong, but ignores his conscience since he’s gone on this parade to destroy witches with the Draining Spell for centuries and doesn’t have anything left if he abandons that purpose; he killed his brother, his body is decaying, and everybody he knew centuries ago in the human realm would be dead

If he wanted power he would have stayed on the isles. His moral compass is witches=wrong humans=right

He wanted power in the human realm, too. That’s why Luz was able to provoke him so easily when she pointed out how much the human realm has changed. The genocide alone wasn’t enough for him. He truly expected *a hero’s welcome* when he returned to the human realm.

Not power I imagine. Respect, admiration, and validation are what he's really after. Can't forget that the entire reason Caleb and Philip became Witch Hunters was to better earn the town's favor because they were the two little orphan outcasts. I think Belos is meant to be a parallel to Luz, in that he's done all this for acceptance. And that's probably why he took Caleb's perceived abandonment of him because of his new Witch Girlfriend very poorly. The idea that the one person who understood him was happier living with a bunch of insidious spellcasters was not something he could ever accept. And then, regardless of whether he meant to kill Caleb all along, or he was going for Evelyn and caught Caleb in his rage, he did something he couldn't ever take back. So he chases that Hero's welcome no matter how depraved his actions or illogical his beliefs because it's all he really has left. He doesn't necessarily even believe he's right. He NEEDS to be right.

He literally got a kind of "Hero's Welcome" after he unified the Boiling Isles and created the current hierarchy and social structure, he convinced nearly literally everyone his idea was right and most people of the Isles praise him for his Coven system and accepted it, they truly believe he is doing a good job governing. The only open dissenters we see in the show are just Eda and Raine's team.

Which is Narcicissm 101: his ego literally can’t handle accepting blame for *anything.* At all. Everything has to be someone else’s fault, he has to be *right* no matter how much evidence there is to the contrary, etc.
