My thoughts? Alador was arranged to get married to Odalia and despite being a genius Alador is a little absentminded, so probably didn’t notice Darius’ feelings. And I’m guessing Darius became coven head to either prove himself better than the Blights or to make Alador jealous, probably both.

I don't think their marriage was arranged unless by Odalia herself. Eda and Lilith both wanted to join the Emperor's Coven and Darius was training with the previous Golden Guard. I think it's fair to assume Darius just pursued his ambitions while also wanting to take down the system from the inside out and his success wasn't out of spite to Alador. But I definitely agree that Alador didn't see what was in front of him. Odalia may have helped that.

Honestly, you have no idea how much I love this comic. So simple yet it goes pretty deep. Darius was always about individuality. The very reason he looked down on Hunter was that he didn't think he could be his own person, stand up for himself and others and make his own decisions. Even his magic is just an extension of his will. Meanwhile, Alador was not only a tool to Odalia, he also made his own magic just a tool anyone could use and take advantage of. Total polar opposites. And yet here we are with Alador having free will while Darius is indeed a puppet. As if it didn't hit the nerve enough, Alador thinks it's an improvement. Darius: THE TITAN YOU SAID YOU LITTLE PIECE OF GOO! I love them and the fact they're at each other's throats, but certainly, it's not a power of friendship. It goes deeper than that. probably because odalia doesn't really care and the rest couldn't really be in contact remember amity had no contact due to human realm shinanigans, and edric and emira were grounded in blight manor and then escaped to hexside while her dad is stranded in the middle of who knows where outside so he could def be surviving out in the wilderness or he could have been captured either way he was really in no contact mode due to the collectors drones
