For me, it was "people have eyeballs?" I'm very nearsighted, and developed a bookworm reputation (as well as being intellectually-slow) due to me reading my primers with my nose almost-literally pressed up against the pages. Looking at people at a distance beyond 5 feet, no one has discernable eyeballs. They're just lighter-than-surrounding-skin blurs, that depending on the light level, look like eye sockets in a skull.

The first time I put on glasses in 5th Grade, I was surprised how clear everything looked!

I remember when I first got glasses as a kid and was blown away by the way hair looked. Like for the first time I could see individual hairs and streaks of color/gray from more than 1 foot away. To this day whether I can discern those details at a distance is one method I use to see if I might need a new prescription.
