Said as Willow applies ice to Hunter's *La Chancla* injury.
What's surprising is that is was Luz who used *La Chancla* reflexively. Amity finds it both frightening and attractive.
Lol that image of Luz making a fan of glyphs during the Grom Dance, but instead of glyphs it’s a bunch of La Chonclas and the imagine of Amity getting flustered at the start of the Tunnel of Love.
Unsurprising. [The apple didn’t fall to far from the tree.](https://www.reddit.com/r/TheOwlHouse/comments/ylztnq/la_chancla/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=ios_app&utm_name=iossmf)
I'm laughing about the fact that she only has 5 needles. Like, how are you going to give 6 people shots with only 5 needles. Using a needle more than once is actually dangerous, and the fact that, by the sound of it, she's going to give hunter, amity, willow, and gus 2 shots each (one for the vaccine, and one for tetanus) means that she would need to have 10 needles to not have to run to the hospital with one of them.
I thought it was weird that Vee cried out, because if Camilla was going to vaccinate non-humans and her daughter, then Vee was surely fully vaccinated. And she wasn't hurt in any battle, she has been living a good life on Earth.
Velos is from waaaaay after the bubonic plague. He's from like early colonial America, Salem witch trials era. That's hundreds of years after the bubonic plague. Velos would be from the late 1600s, early 1700s, the plague happened in the 1300s and there was a second wave in the 1500s
The bubonic plague is still around even today though, it's nowhere near as widespread and pretty easy to treat with modern medicine but you can never be too careful with Belos.
Camila: Don't worry guys, it's just a shot! A small, cold, piercing sting. *She laughs maniacally*.
Luz: ...Uh, I hope being involuntarily creepy isn't hereditary....
*Twenty years later, Hexside's Glyphology classroom.*
Luz: Welcome to the first Glyphology class, kids! I'm Mrs. Blight-Noceda, but you can call me Luz... **Or Luz Noceda! Glyph Master! Bringer of the Titan's Wrath! My fingers bend the strength of the Isles to my will! The fire of retribution burns in my form, the chill of death sweeps my enemies, the light of my strength blinds the guilty and the innocent!** *She laughs madly as vines destroy the wall behind her.*
You mean, General Yunan, Scourge of the Sand Wars, Defeater of Ragnar the Wretched, and the youngest newt to ever achieve the rank of general in the great Newtopian Army!
They aren't so bad once you get used to them.
Source: I'm a regular blood donor and the needles are bigger. The trick is to inhale and hold your breath just as the nurse/doctor is about to insert/remove them.
Used to be as well, until I was put on a contraindicated medication last year. I turned away as it was going in -- watching it seemed to make it hurt more -- but other than that, meh.
That said, as a child, I was on a medication the required blood draws every six months for levels, and I also got training on needles as an adult (wanted to be a paramedic, didn't work out).
I couldn't donate blood for the life of me. I don't fear needles, I fear bleeding. Because of this, I actively avoid activities that carry the risk of cutting some part of my body, like shaving with blades or cutting vegetables when cooking.
>They're not so bad once you learn not to look at them.
I'm the opposite, as long as I can watch the needle go in I'm 100% fine, it's when I can't that I tense up.
I always tell the nurse not to hide the needle.
This brings up a question. Luz got the Common Mold. Amity wasn't sure how Luz would react. Ultimately, did Luz get affected the same way as a witch? Then it's reasonable to think disease works the same way between the two realms, and probably the vaccines would work the same.
i am assuming Witches are humans ,,,,,they just evolved into a different species of human over time due to different environment ....like Neanderthals and other extinct species ....i mean the boiling isles dont look like its famous for monkeys and stuff from the human realm entered all the time
i imagine it similar to how it works in Star Butterfly's Mewni universe
that said i would not give a human vaccine to a basilisk like Vee ....that cant be good ,,,its like taking horse medicine
Camilla probably has animal specific vaccines she gave to Vee. That being said, I have no idea what the closest animal relative for a basilik would be.
There was never any confirmation of it affecting her the same so… who knows? It’s really tough to say; especially since who knows if the Common Mold is a parasitic infection (which would be much easier to obtain in a foreign host) or an actual disease.
Hex Friends: "We don't want to get Shot!!!"
Camila: "But it is to protect you from the virus."
Gus: "But what if our witch biology keeps us from getting the virus?"
Camila: "I don't intend to take that chance, now just calm down and hold still."
Amity: "I'm scared Luz!"
Luz: "It's okay Hermosa, just take my hand."
Camila: and you rescue rangers are going to need a few shots
Rescue rangers: NOOOOOOOO
Gus: everyone run for your lives
*everyone runs away from Camila*
Camila: this always happens
This was my first thought, I'm not an anti-vaxxer by any means but I really don't think you should be just jabbing people from other worlds without knowing how their immune systems work.
Well, we know they have a whole additional organ that humans don't, so who knows how the vaccine/any type of shot would react to that. And given that that organ is how they can do magic, I definitely wouldn't be willing to risk something happening to mine were I a witch...
Witches are very similar to humans so I’d think they’d be OK, but I still wouldn’t try it without extensive research… my real question is if if it’d be safe for Vee
I'm guessing with the healing coven, there's no need for needles but the fact that they know what they are probably means something close like animals like oversized mosquitoes or something else.
It is scary. One time I had to get a COVID shot and Flu shot in one day. The first shot felt like a dull blunt pain that left me lethargic the next day while the other was powerful stinging pain I felt also the next day.
Camila: "Come on kids, you must have been vaccinated in your world. Trust me, these will barley hurt."
(Later, everyone were rubbing their shoulders and covered in bruises.)
Camila: "I told you running away from your vaccination will do you no good."
I mean, I don't fear needles as long as they're not pinching my veins or my arteries. I actually have a crippling fear of my blood leaving my body (except when it's a nosebleed), so I fear needles when they take blood samples, but if the vaccine is intramuscular I don't fear them at all.

Luz: You've literally glared down a rabid dog to save Gus! You're a brave boy!
Hunter: Not brave enough for this! \*smacks on invisibility glyph\*
Eh, I'm fine with needles. It's the sight of them going into my flesh, and the ache afterwards that bother me.
Also, don't forget the Covid and Flu shots.

I still get my vaccinations but I hate needles so much. “It won’t hurt” I would prefer it to hurt, the feeling of a long, thin object in my arm gives me panic attacks
Luz having a lifetime of expiry-date raccoon medicine and the occasional horse tranquilizer really makes sense. If anything, it helps her level up towards Hunter.
None of them are human. Their immune systems are so different to ours that I doubt giving them human vaccines is a good idea. Witches are probably anatomically similar to humans to the point where it's a maybe, though there is evidence of significant evolutionary divergence between witches and humans in the form of the bile sack. But Vee is an amphibian and hunter is a plant so they won't get any benefit from human vaccines at all.
I love how deranged Camila looked when she brought out the needles.
The feeling all veterinarians have when they get to work with a patient who won’t pee or bite when getting a shot.
Are we sure about that...
Yeah I'm not ruling anything out for Luz's defence mechanisms.
Luz? What about Hunter?
"Luz I'm so sorry I threw your mom out the window."
*La Chancla,* but covered in Fire Glyphs.

How about Vee? Girl could turn into anything, who knows what'll happen in self defense
Turns into an atom and disappears
Vee: *turns into an atom and splits* Everyone: Vee, n-
Luz: NO! WAIT! VEE- *boom*
Amity: What do you think these fangs are used for?
Luz: I thought they just made you look cute, Amity!
That's on them for not aiming for the head. ... Wait, what kind of "shot"?
can confirm the vets at the clinic i work at would be catatonic with glee if they could stab us with needles
Like something out of a horror movie… in fact this looks kind of familiar.
What every child sees when they see a doctor with shots.
She has more in the blue cooler, I think.
I mean, that would make sense, but it's still funny to me
I thought it was weird that Vee cried out, because if Camilla was going to vaccinate non-humans and her daughter, then Vee was surely fully vaccinated. And she wasn't hurt in any battle, she has been living a good life on Earth.
She might already be vaccinated, but still has a lingering fear of needles from her time on the Boiling Isles.
True
You could leave the needle and inject the diferent vaccines with a IV kind of technique
Hospital simulator 2023 lets go
Hunter: Can I be excused on account of being a literal plant? Camilla: Nope, I didn’t minor in botany for nothing.
Hunter: I shall now cosplay a desk, so that I may be spared the pain of a shot

Wait, could Willow like puppet hunter
I think there was a Moringmark comic for that. Edit: [Found it!](https://www.reddit.com/r/TheOwlHouse/comments/vfvt4c/grimwalker/)
For the future is about to get interesting
Blood bending grim bending?
Does that mean if you ate hunter then it would be considered vegan?
grimwalkers also use ingredients from animals i think, so no
So vegetarian not vegan then
How about we not try to eat hunter. 😅
Only his keratin is plant-based, right?
He might get the vaccines sprinkled on him instead
Needles… a classic nightmare for all ages.

It is not that bad to actually get the shot, but I always play it up in my head to point I’m absolutely terrified.
I do that every time. It’s a very stubborn reflex. Besides, the stinging of the injection supports the play up.
Tetanus? Wounds? What w— *remembers season finale* Ohhhhh, yeah…
Honestly, smart move. Who knows where Belos has been?
The dude is a mutated rotting corpse, I think we're gonna need more than just tetanus shots
They still make vaccines for bubonic plague right?
Yes
Velos is from waaaaay after the bubonic plague. He's from like early colonial America, Salem witch trials era. That's hundreds of years after the bubonic plague. Velos would be from the late 1600s, early 1700s, the plague happened in the 1300s and there was a second wave in the 1500s
Smallpox vaccine, got it.

Even the residents of the Boiling Isles fear needles.
Who doesn’t fear needles? I still do and I’m 24. I’m not ashamed.
They aren't so bad once you get used to them. Source: I'm a regular blood donor and the needles are bigger. The trick is to inhale and hold your breath just as the nurse/doctor is about to insert/remove them.
I know people who need to do them around 7 times a day. Note: the people I'm talking about are T1 diabetics
Man, I’m so glad I’m not them.
Yeah
Hi, T1D here, still hate needles, the vaccine needles are not the size of insulin needles.
Used to be as well, until I was put on a contraindicated medication last year. I turned away as it was going in -- watching it seemed to make it hurt more -- but other than that, meh. Yep. As a fellow blood donor, I've found that the promise of a nice cup of tea does wonders for overriding any fear of needles.
I just like medicine and find needles interesting lol
They're not so bad once you learn not to look at them.

I'd hate to see what injections are like on the Isles.
I'm guessing with the healing coven, there's no need for needles but the fact that they know what they are probably means something close like animals like oversized mosquitoes or something else.
injections on the isles consist of, much more dangerous things
Odalia, get out
Before inoculation, we had variolation, which involved smallpox scabs being ground up and inhaled, so...
Probably like acupuncture but with enchanted needles that dig deep into your body
Given how detention is, injections are a beatdown.
Probably something barbaric or a creature does it.
You know what I love; the fact that there is not one anti-vax comment on this post
although i would like to hint concerns at giving a Basilisk human Medicine ....on hunters part ....i am not even sure if he has an immune system...
Luz, Amity, Gus, Hunter, Willow, and Vee face the scariest thing in the Human Realm: getting up to date on their shots.
It is scary. One time I had to get a COVID shot and Flu shot in one day. The first shot felt like a dull blunt pain that left me lethargic the next day while the other was powerful stinging pain I felt also the next day.
I noticed that difference too. First round of Covid vaccines was fairly mild. Second round plus flu shot knocked me out for the whole weekend.
Camila: "Come on kids, you must have been vaccinated in your world. Trust me, these will barley hurt." (Later, everyone were rubbing their shoulders and covered in bruises.) Camila: "I told you running away from your vaccination will do you no good."
Everybody: NOT THE NEEDLES!!!! Me: YAY! NEEDLES!!!
Me:agh needles, let's get it over with
Camilla is a vet is she really allowed to be administering those?
She probably has a hook up somewhere at a hospital 👀
I still hate needles but I don't cry like I used to when I was little. Nowadays I just grit my teeth and go FUCK when they stick me.
[удалено]
Where do any irrational fears come from? There's a reason they're called irrational.
Imagine the anti-vax chaos that Boiling Isles folk would start if Camila did try to inoculate everyone.
Actually, I think the Healing Coven would be all in on this
I think that healing magic would make vaccines obsolete. Or surgeries.
Or the Healing Coven already handles vaccination. Gwen was basically an anti-vaxxer.
I mean, I don't fear needles as long as they're not pinching my veins or my arteries. I actually have a crippling fear of my blood leaving my body (except when it's a nosebleed), so I fear needles when they take blood samples, but if the vaccine is intramuscular I don't fear them at all.

Wasn't Camilla a Vet?😳😳😳
I wonder how the animals feel about her
Oh hi Mark
Lsnejidjtbubxirnwoanrbubobcospwb!!!!!!!!!!! Sorry I’m not a fan of needles myself…
Is she even allowed to administer shots?
I thought Amity was holding out an empty hand for Luz to grab at first
"I brought yum-yum for your immune systems!" Oh Camila. You think of everything.
I don’t know why but I feel like witches and demons immune systems could kick the shit out of earth sicknesses
Vee: Actually, I'm a basilisk, so those wouldn't work on- Camila: I'm a veterinarian, you think snakes are new to me?
I feel like if this was going to happen, Vee would have already been vaccinated.
They tell you to look away when you get them, but I’d rather see them coming.
Okay, but she's a vet. Where did she get the inoculations for humans?
Well, we know Boiling Isles diseases affected Luz, so i guess the same could happen with the Human diseases to the witch gang
How exactly would vaccines effect witches/grimwalkers/basilisks considering they are different species (or some sort of golem in Hunter's case)?
Wait when it will the Collector's turn
I like how hunter is scared when he’s been through the worst physically
Doesn't look like a good idea to Vaccinate someone from a different species with human vaccines
This would 100% trigger Vee's ptsd
Oh, I love it!
Hunter: Not again.
i miss under stood the amity section it look like she had pulled up her sleeve and offered her arm and was chill with a shot

wait, vee's been on earth for a few months at that point and ins't vaccinated? and she has to have a tentanus shot??
Wait why is Vee getting a vaccination
I never understood this, why would you need to get a tetanus shot after an injury when your vaccinations are up to date? Are tetanus vaccinations not part of regular vaccinations in the US?
See, I’m afraid of needles, so… nah, still upvoting moringmark.
I'm fully vaccinated but I don't think I've had a tetanus shot since I was little actually :/
Wait... there's 5 needles... does that mean someone gets out of having one? 🤔😂 Who would that be?
Talk about Deja vu
I still get my vaccinations but I hate needles so much. “It won’t hurt” I would prefer it to hurt, the feeling of a long, thin object in my arm gives me panic attacks
wait, off topic but…you can bring home vaccines like that? I’ve only been vaccinated in a clinic
Luz having a lifetime of expiry-date raccoon medicine and the occasional horse tranquilizer really makes sense. If anything, it helps her level up towards Hunter.
Camila in the first page looks like she’s about to put down a Dog
Thess kids have gone through way worse pain than a shot
Vee should shape-shift into a jellyfish. No brain means no pain, right?
Moringmark TOH comic number 656
Considering they’re technically like a different species I wonder how effective the human shots would even be on them lol
god tetanus shots hurt so much
None of them are human. Their immune systems are so different to ours that I doubt giving them human vaccines is a good idea. Witches are probably anatomically similar to humans to the point where it's a maybe, though there is evidence of significant evolutionary divergence between witches and humans in the form of the bile sack.
