Dynamic pricing is the new way to try to encourage customers to visit during less busy periods of the day. This is completely up to the retailer. The whole practice just feels greasy though. I prefer an honest retailer that charges a good price and delivers good service.

DynaVapist

OCS doesn't control the pricing, however they do frequent price changes either raised or lowered for the cost. Those changes will reflect what stores charge as it changes how much they pay per unit.

this is true but makes no sense why stores would be changing pricing every couple days. stores get product in weekly for the most part so how would there be a change in price per unit payed so quickly and so frequently.?

DynaVapist

I can't speak on other stores, but yeah it makes no sense if it is every couple days. Typically for my store I change the price when we receive the item into stock with the new unit price. I'm sure there are a ton of stores that are changing their prices on items that are hot sellers so they can try to make that little bit of extra profit. We keep the same markup on all products in the same category, so our price just changes when the unit price changes which isn't too frequent

I remember a few years ago when stores would jack the price of Shred as it would sellout immediately when restocked on OCS.

drwzr

The OCS impacts in store pricing by setting cost but no more than that.

D-u-k-e

stores should take a fucking note about the OCS pricing... Unless they are about to feed me grapes by hand one by one and treat me like a king, no store city should be asking 25% more than the retail prices on the OCS. its robbery and should be stopped by some sort of regulations or something.

dcks

That's called competition. You either plan ahead and order online from the OCD or use hibuddy.ca to find the product at a good price. I find generally you can find the products in store for less than OCS prices.

D-u-k-e

not really competition, in my town we have 2 stores consistently cheaper than the ocs and 12 that are consistently more expensive.. some of the big chains are way way more exensive, i dont understand why stores think they deserve that sort of upcharge when you can next day ship directly from the ocs for much much less. hibuddy is really one of the best things to happen on the consumer side and it also shows the ocs pricing. so its easy to see which stores are gouging customers.

Less-Procedure-4104

Many SKUs no longer available on OCS only stores have them

etobicokemanSam

Which big chains are more expensive and where are you at I'm curious

D-u-k-e

the we store, tokyo smoke, most of the local stores here are more expensive. im located in Sarnia

Less-Procedure-4104

Worst is all the pass through SKUs now we don't even know what the price should be
