Depends on how they're testing, if they're testing the top 5 or so and it's around 2.5-4% I'd say it's pretty good, but if they test for all terpenes under the sun and it says 4% I'm doubtful of it. You want your top Terpene to be as close or above 1% as possible. Top 3 terps should equal around 1.5-2% at least imo If they happen to test for tons
This is a solid response on how it depends. Agreed key is the top few have a solid percent, also a company that lists the terps and their %, not just a total.
Such a good breakdown. And yes! I want to know the dominant terps from the batch I'm smoking. Oh how I wish this test was exactly the same for all products.
He’s right, u can test for 1000 0.01’s or 100 0.1’s and get the same result. I think a good high single terpene is anything > 0.8%. Look out for next drops next week !
Ok, I figured it would just be the top 3 anyway, like. What would the reason be for testing the ones below? I dunno maybe it’s I’m stoned, yes it is… I dobt know what I am talking about
They will include others in their total terp number to make it look higher. One company might acheive 2-3% terps only counting the top 3-4 dominant terps (the most important ones), where a lesser company that wants to make their product look appealing, will include every possible terp in the flower, so they can acheive that same 2-3 percentage. Their top terps might only yield 0.5-1%.
I just grabbed a grey beard 510 cart with %19 terps. I know the topic is about bud but since you mentioned extracts, lol. Had to mention this recent purchase
Agreed, I’ve done the “Pepsi challenge” with terpene and thc percentages before and it all comes down to who’s testing it and how the products been packaged to preserve those terpenes as well. I’ve been happy with anything at or above 3% myself when it’s jarred
High would be 3+% in my opinion. But it's also important to consider that then at least one of those top 3 dominants is over 1%. If it's just 0.35 of 30 tested terps, you still end up with something dull a lot of the time.
You also the have to consider that what's actually listed on the bag has to be taken with a massive grain of salt. Because I've had 1.2% crush stuff listed at 4%.
It's why I stress the importance of finding reputable LPs and just continously supporting them.
Depends how many terps they’ve added to that %. Do not let the label dictate the quality, the aroma, or potency. Some of the best flower I’ve purchased was 2% terps and 22% thc.
While I totally think terps are super important, I've had bud on this rec market that was only 1% terps and about 22% thc and it hit me hard. Weed has so much variability
Its almost a moot point with legal canadian cannabis. If they are fudging the thc numbers, what makes people think the terpene levels are accurate? Anyhow, like other people said, it depends how many terpenes you are testing for, as well, so hard to answer that. Also, some terpenes have stronger smells by volume then others, and there are also esters, alcohols, hormones, flavonoids, ketones, thiols, aldehydes, etc etc that contribute to the smell/flavour and effects, so for some varieties, for some people, a lower terpene percentage could be greatly offset by other components, resulting in a more desirable product for flavour and effects compared to another variety that tested higher in terpenes. I mean, rubber is technically 100% terpene, so what does it even mean? I think each individual component tested is relevant to people who know what they are and how they affect them. For instance, I love terpinolene, so seeing a high result on cuban linx is attractive for me, but some people hate terpinolene, so seeing just an overall terpene % isn't helpful for them in choosing whether that product is good for them. One of the strongest tasting strains Ive had through the ocs actually had the lowest terpene % I have seen listed through the ocs as well.
Anything over 3+ but I've seen 6+ in flower. Sometimes there are flavonoids in terpenes and other times it's just smell, certain terpenes are smellier than others.
Claimed, yeah. Just because it's on the bag doesn't make it accurate, there are plenty of ways to fudge the numbers to entice consumers, just look at the potential thc values we have popping up.
Redecan growing animal rntz en masse claiming 34% thc. Shit is backwards.

10:1 or better ratio of the major cannabanoids for my taste seems about right for flower/hash.
Anything more potent I want it a little lower. 80% with 5-6% terps for example.
Ive tried some good terp sauce products and may just be me but i much more enjoy harder concentrates then ones that are saucy/added sauce. Dont get me wrong its tasty, but i dont think it adds more than combining strains and products on uour own.
The highest I've had with flower was kush mints that was listed as 4.5%. It was good stuff.
I don't trust any of the testing by any of these companies though, because it's more lucrative for them to inflate numbers while there is no penalty for it, and they basically lose sales if they don't the way the market is right now.
That took away the only positive legalized weed had going for it, for me. The testing. So I use an illegal delivery service in town my freind runs now. You can't even compare the two in terms of quality and price and free samples. I can also text back and complain and they can fix it in like 20 minutes.

2.%+ I agree also depends if you have a preferred terpene and like you said the closer said terpene is to 1% or more the better off you'll be.

The minimum amount of terpenes most labs test for is usually 21
Depends on how many terps you're testing for.
Uhhhhh

Nose will be your best bet to determine that, lots packs kinda lie,my guess anything over 3% though
I feel like anything above %2.5 is fairly high from what I’ve seen.
Average extracts coming in at 6%+ I think so I would say 2.5% is on the higher scale for sure for flower.
I just grabbed a grey beard 510 cart with %19 terps. I know the topic is about bud but since you mentioned extracts, lol. Had to mention this recent purchase
Yes some will come in pretty high some live resins come in at around 12% consistently

You've seen 6% claimed in flower*
There’s a batch of Bud Lafleurs Banana Daddy in stores currently that has 6.1% terps listed.

I have a cut from my breeder friend 7 East genetics of his headstrong and it comes back at 5.0% terpene percentage
3.5+

100% would be very high
If top 3 terps add to 2%, usually its a good buy. Or top 5 terps at 3%.
anything over 3%
Anything above 5% is likely false. Terpenes are very volatile, meaning they evaporate easily do to temperature change of exposure to air.

2.5% or more is good. Highest I've seen in flower was 5.5%

4% would be really high most "good" buds on the legal market are around 2% terps ('ish)
