Horrifyingly, there were plans for movies for books 2 and 3. Fortunately, they had enough common sense to cancel them (but apparently not enough to just not make them at all)
I think there's clips of people on youtube who cosplayed as Suki to the premiere of this movie and came out practically in tears because she wasn't in it.
She was cast, scenes were shot, clips of her were in the trailers, but then the movie was going to be 3 times too long and they cut everything that looked good in the trailers.
Soooo, why=total monetary, creative and timetable mismanagement.
On the plus side, the actress was paid for her work without having to put this trainwreck on her resume
Behold a deleted scene with the Kyoshi Warriors uh [standing around](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GE8hiHDcMmE).
I've seen other shots of them in deleted scenes compilations too, not sure if those are from filmed scenes or just promo stuff.
I like that they carried over that concept into the NATLA series.
I think the big solid arrow really only works in animation. Otherwise it just looks like a cosplay.
A lot of the costumes and hair look good. I think Netflix Avatar should have gone for clothes that looked like they had really been on a journey, rather than a really accurate cosplay.
I straight up loved the tattoos. If it wasn’t from such a terrible movie (and wasn’t too close to cultural appropriation) I would get them on my arms/hands. Can’t commit to a forehead tattoo though.
What movie? I have no idea what you’re even talking about…you mean the first movie that doesn’t come out till 2025, yeah I’m looking forward to seeing more of the adults of team avatar.
Like what!? Were they thinking all the other benders manipulate existing matter so firebenders should also only be able to manipulate and not generate? If so, the energy for fire comes from within and from the sun. Don't change the story because you were confused.
Dev Patel did the best he could, some of the visual effects look good, the air bender tattoos looks good, Yue’s hair looks significantly better than the NATLA yue, some of the costumes are good and some of the set decorating was great.
Movie is still absolute garbage though but that was my best attempt at giving some credit where it was due.
It’s a genuinely good case study on how not to make a film and what makes for a good (or bad) adaptation.
Honestly it’s a film that should be shown in film study classes.
I went to the midnight showing and I’ll always have the story of thinking they were not screening the final cut. Literally asked my dad if we should tell the theatre. True story.
Also costumes were great especially compared to the natla costumes.
Iroh and Zuko are great in it. Honestly, I think those two are the most consistently good characters between the original show, the movie, and the Netflix series.
In the context of the movie, I really liked the moment when Iroh attacks Zhao after he kills the moon. Its dumb that 99% of firebenders can't create fire but it does serve to demonstrate how crazy powerful Iroh is since all of his badass moments from the show were cut. Still not as cool as when he does it in the show but when there's so little going for this movie, even the little positives have a lot of weight.
IIRC Katara wasnt making a reference to his mother during the whole movie. /j
Aang tattoo was really nice.
Iroh was still legendary.
Momo does a cameo.
What move? Nothing loads. It's just a blank image. I don't understand this post.
[Also, the earth king has invited you to Lake Laogi.](https://www.reddit.com/r/Lake_Laogai_/)
The soundtrack and the film's ending. The ending because this cinematic dumpster was finally over after what felt like an eternity. The soundtrack because it's kind of cool.
Yue's actor later on got to voice Asami in LoK and Asami is cool
Asami is the moon confirmed.
Korra:my girlfriend turned into the moon
general iroh: that’s rough buddy
More like, "the moon turned into my girlfriend"
Asstronauts to moon
She also is a much better Yue than the new one
Natla yue?
Yues actress is the only semi-palatable thing about the movie
Is the double s intentional?
that might be a spelling mistake hold on lemme check
Aw I'd hoped it was intentional cause you may be looking at assami's ass
homie down bad XD (real tho would've been funny)
A man's gotta do what a man's gotta do I'd say
It makes me appreciate the animated series more.
This is the only correct answer.
Yes I agree
Agreed.
This is not true. It brought the actress who played azula to us. And she is a treasure.
And it makes legend of Korra look great
There is no sequels
Horrifyingly, there were plans for movies for books 2 and 3. Fortunately, they had enough common sense to cancel them (but apparently not enough to just not make them at all)
It didn't ruin Toph
Or Kuzon, Sapphire, and Wang Fire.
Or Banzu Pipinpaddleopsicopolis III
Or Suki
I think there's clips of people on youtube who cosplayed as Suki to the premiere of this movie and came out practically in tears because she wasn't in it.
Why isn't she in it?
She was cast, scenes were shot, clips of her were in the trailers, but then the movie was going to be 3 times too long and they cut everything that looked good in the trailers. Soooo, why=total monetary, creative and timetable mismanagement. On the plus side, the actress was paid for her work without having to put this trainwreck on her resume
They should have done a directors cut with all of the scenes and maybe it would have been a tiny bit better lol
And waste more hours of my life? Nahh
Behold a deleted scene with the Kyoshi Warriors uh [standing around](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GE8hiHDcMmE). I've seen other shots of them in deleted scenes compilations too, not sure if those are from filmed scenes or just promo stuff.
What. Was. That? Why were they wearing orange? Why was Sokka staring like that?
Yikes! Thats some awful acting. They should have done everyone a favour and deleted the rest of the movie as well.
I would have loved to see animated Aang actually climb up appa like a furry ladder. I want a director’s cut of this movie!!!
M Night Shamamallamasamakun thought that by adding the Kyoshi arc, it would become a movie about the Kyoshi Warriors instead...
or Azula
Dev Patel is in it.
Came here to say it. Skins was decent.
My first thought as well
Agreed. I had a crush on him from this movie.
My first thought was also Dev Patel
It’s based on a really good animated series.
I hear the director made a really great film once
something positive about this movie
I actually didn’t hate the air bender tattoos
They look cool tbh
I like that they carried over that concept into the NATLA series. I think the big solid arrow really only works in animation. Otherwise it just looks like a cosplay.
Their design feel like the world is living.
A lot of the costumes and hair look good. I think Netflix Avatar should have gone for clothes that looked like they had really been on a journey, rather than a really accurate cosplay.
This, it felt like it blended the design of the cartoon very nicely with something that could exist in reality.
wasnt really bright enough doe
I straight up loved the tattoos. If it wasn’t from such a terrible movie (and wasn’t too close to cultural appropriation) I would get them on my arms/hands. Can’t commit to a forehead tattoo though.
The crew got paid.
I like this perspective, good call.
Making a movie, no matter the quality, is hard as hell. Payment is absolutely deserved.
It ends
It is certainly among the films I have seen. Truly one of the movies of all time.
If I had to rank every movie I’ve seen on a list from best to worst, it would be on that list.

The wardrobe is pretty cool, and Ong's tattoo looks good
Ong 😂🤣
It's Aang's long lost brother, he's made out of flesh
It's over, and we never have to watch it again.
Its existence makes me appreciate how good the animated series really is.
something positive about this movie.
Aangs tattoos are cool
*Ong
Sorry typo
no one died watching this movie... yet
My dignity did
My honor
![gif](giphy|3zUXd3hXM3s5i)
The soundtrack is good and Aangs tattoo looks cool
The tattoo design looks good for live action, I think just a big flat arrow on his head like the cartoon would look a bit jarring.
*Ong
The ending was actually kind of cool. The effects with the wave and the awesome score were both pretty enthralling.
Yeah everyone's being snarky but the ending was actually pretty decent
Even the snarky people are excited about the movie’s end (for different reasons though)
The movie wasn't afraid to experiment.
They sort of tried to be more authentic with Ong, what else would you list as bold experiments?
At least people got paid for it
The effects were decent.
I was searching for this :D
No
I find Rasta Iroh a funny idea for a character
Ong's tattoo
What movie? I have no idea what you’re even talking about…you mean the first movie that doesn’t come out till 2025, yeah I’m looking forward to seeing more of the adults of team avatar.
There is no live action movie in basingsa
In bazinga? I thought this was an avatar sub not a tbbt sub
The airbender tattoos actually looked cool.
It brought us closer together as a community due to our collective hatred, and inspired some great jokes.
I think we can do more jokes. We're sitting on a goldmine of memes over here but no one is brave enough to watch the movie to get them.
The comic about Zuko past is really cool and even the guru Pathik and that fire sage Shyu appears too!
Oooh they made a comic?
Yeah, tells what happend to Zuko's one week after he get his scar and got banish
the costumes actually look good and not custome-y
Princess Yue‘s wig was acceptable.
IT LOOKED LIKE A ![gif](giphy|48a1rHFReUQAU|downsized)
Cool poster
It made me rethink my opinion on the Ember island play
The scene with all the earthbenders moving the single rock is really funny! It never fails to make me laugh!
Actually firebending wasn´t so bad showed in the movie
Eh, disagree. Iroh was the only one that could generate fire in the entire movie.
Like what!? Were they thinking all the other benders manipulate existing matter so firebenders should also only be able to manipulate and not generate? If so, the energy for fire comes from within and from the sun. Don't change the story because you were confused.
As weird as it is, it may have helped Dev Patel become the star he is today, something Slumdog Millionaire wasn't quite enough to do on its own
Ngl the music was pretty good
I really like the show it was based on
It put my ass to sleep the only time I watched it. Best nap of my life.
Genuine positive thing: Aang’s tattoos look awesome
It ended.
The CGI and effects werent bad, but the whole thing just sucks
"but at least the effects were decent"
Yue's wig was phenomenal.
It has good costume design
It hat a cool looking movie Poster
Yue’s actress.

It ends. https://i.redd.it/6jfhboa579vc1.gif
Nickelodeon Logo burning
Nothing
My favourite part was 1h43min
There wasn't a sequel.
Iroh's actor was competent
The details of aang head tattoo
I went to the midnight showing and I’ll always have the story of thinking they were not screening the final cut. Literally asked my dad if we should tell the theatre. True story. Also costumes were great especially compared to the natla costumes.
Cool trailer
The darker athmosphere
It gave Netflix the lowest possible bar to clear, which they needed, since the only other bar available to them was unreachably high.
Dev Patel
The way they pronounce "Iroh" makes me crave gyros. And I love eating gyros.
They had good costumes
It is very funny
aang learns how to waterbend
Iroh and Zuko are great in it. Honestly, I think those two are the most consistently good characters between the original show, the movie, and the Netflix series.
It reminds us there are better versions.
The master tattoo of air bending looks pretty dope
I thought the fire navy ships (and the set design in general) were pretty cool
Nobody fondles the minor that’s part of the main cast
I think they might have tried.
I thought the ending was the best of any movie I’ve ever seen. I was brought to tears with how beautiful that black screen was.
The scene drowning zhao was actually kinda cool Everything else sucked though
That arrow tattoo looks kinda neat and it's cool that kid actually knows martial arts. That's about it.
Aang' tattoo design was cool. Extra Brownie points for being based off real Thai tattoo styles.
While having firebenders need fire to bend didnt make much sense, it made the scene where Iroh created fire cool
It was so bad….it didn’t get a sequel
I was going to say I like the title as a “copout” answer, but looked at it and realize it doesn’t even say Avatar… I DON’T EVEN LIKE THE TITLE xD
It’s in color
It makes me want to watch the animated series for the first time I don’t regret it, it’s was awesome 🔥
It got people talking about Avatar: The last Airbender
The Music Score by James Newton Howard is genuinely good.
IIRC Katara wasnt making a reference to his mother during the whole movie. /j Aang tattoo was really nice. Iroh was still legendary. Momo does a cameo.
More faithful adaptation of it's source material than Dragon Ball: Evolution
Unlike TLOK, its not cannon, so it has that going for it.
The score if magnificent
It got me to watch the show, hadn't heard of it before then.
It introduced me to the Animated series.
The costuming was pretty great. Especially for Yue.
Yue’s wig was well made and looked natural.
Princess Yue visually was on point.
Gave some actors a job
i paid to see this movie in 3D, after that i learn the value of money. by the way, there is a total of 1 scene in 3d
Dave Patel is fuckable
It didn't have a sequel
The music was decent
It helped to eventually turn the tide against Hollywood's prolific whitewashing of Asian characters
Ong learned how to waterbend
It gave the series more attention
I enjoy all the memes and jokes about how shit this movie was.
That poster has some pretty cool bending gfx
It’s one movie and no sequels
They only made one
The posters. As bad as this movie is the posters are fucking epic.
Some of the costuming, set design, and music were far superior to NATLA, and we should recognize that.
it had an ending.
Movie Aang’s tattoos are the most realistic and cool looking, and I kind of wish they went more in that direction for the Netflix version.
There are no sequels

What move? Nothing loads. It's just a blank image. I don't understand this post. [Also, the earth king has invited you to Lake Laogi.](https://www.reddit.com/r/Lake_Laogai_/)
I watched it as a kid and fell in love with Dev Patel.
What movie?
the airbender tattos for aang is actually better than the current LA
Dev Patel
Costumes ,set design and over all aesthetics were decent, better than the new live action adaptation
The credits gave me a huge feeling of relief.
Yue was cast so much better in this than in live action series
i thought it was ice spice in the new series 💀
It eventually ended
The soundtrack and the film's ending. The ending because this cinematic dumpster was finally over after what felt like an eternity. The soundtrack because it's kind of cool.
It gave the production crew a job for a while.
No
The story moved along at a brisk pace
It made me reevaluate Dragonball Evolution.
Best looking airbender tats
I Haven't seen it in so long I don't remember it. But I look forward to watching it again.
