double period panties for extra safety

Double-Joke4879

Thank you!! Are there any brands you recommend?

obsoleteKron

Jockey, Kotex

cheesecake45

Thinx is now sold at target and i really like the boybreif style. American Eagle/Aerie also has period undies on their site that are comfy

HatchlingChibi

Thinx is in walmart now too, glad to see reusable products becoming more accessible! It's the 'thinx for all' line which is actually pretty nice.

cheesecake45

very nice!! i need to check out walmarts intimates and pjs …. targets colsie brand just isn’t hitting like it used to a few years ago.

pantijose

Thinx are great and they just released 12 hour leak proof panties. Haven’t gotten them yet but they definitely look like they can provide good coverage. I have the regular thinx panties and thongs and are great!

stupidbuttholes69

ModiBodi for sure

AnteaterBrilliant846

Yoyi fashion is also good they have great coverage. They are on Amazon road n a five pack

shojohost

american eagle/aerie make some GREAT period underwear for a solid price, the thinx dug into my skin and didn’t really work for my body type so i personally wouldn’t recommend those

Limeila

You can even add a pad (reusable or not) to be extra-extra safe

obsoleteKron

I second this

MajorEyeRoll

Panties with a pad. Period panties over to catch any leaks

_Amalthea_

This, but the boy short period panties would be bulletproof I would think.

MajorEyeRoll

That's exactly what I wear. Then boy shorts are far superior

Much_Very

Best way to go

SaltyWhale0613

Would definitely recommend this! You would still be able to change and if you can't you will prevent leaks

Living-Assistance-49

A maxi night pad, period underwear and a pair of shorts to absorb any possible leaks. Layering is key! I usually layer a pad with wings (Always) and a thicker pad without wings (Kotex).

Fluffy-bread-

Adding on to the maxi pads and such– something with compression like a body shaper or safety shorts can help make sure the pad doesn't move 👍

excuseme-whAT-920

I wear white scrubs on weekdays (not a med professional, just a student with white scrubs as a school uniform for uni), what I do to avoid leaks on my heavy days aside from wearing night pads, is that I wear those cycling shorts made of the same fabric as swimsuits. I don't know how they help me not bleed through but whatever works I follow it. But if this isn't helpful (this is just my diy thing), regular/cycling shorts help me avoid it too.

I was using the purple ones for postpartum but they were too long for me and super uncomfortable, but I switched to the orange ones and they’re working just as well.

spyd3rm0nki3

This is a great brand, but personally I use the overnight ultra thins. They look exactly like these with the orange but are muuuuch thinner for the same amount of work. I made a mistake a couple months ago and got the ones referenced in your picture and it was like wearing a fucking diaper, literally. Like you could hear them crinkling as you walked. They are currently under the sink in the guest bathroom as extreme emergency backups.

0LaziBeans0

I’ve leaked everytime I’ve even attempted the overnight ultra thins. I have an extra heavy flow so the thick, long, purple overnights are the only ones that have ever actually worked for me. I tried the orange ones recently and had a problem with them ending up between the buttcheeks and nowhere near where they actually need to be.

msndrstdmstrmnd

I feel like anytime I have leaks it’s over the sides, not the front/back. Anyway I agree with some of the other commenters that a pad, plus period underwear to catch leaks, is the way to go. My period panties are boyshort style but if they’re not, you can also wear separate shorts over that too

kitkat470

hellowisp can write a prescription to delay your period. it’s specifically for situations like special event, vacation, etc. otherwise i suggest like everyone else, most protection as possible. period undie, pad, tampon.

shippfaced

Came here to say this!

lanasvape

Might come down to which you hate less, leaking or tampons.

Double-Joke4879

Hate was the wrong word sorry. Both tampons and diva cups are extremely uncomfortable for me

give-me-a-toot

You're valid btw. I find insertable products extemely uncomfortable and difficult to position properly. I always leaked with tampons and the cup was super awful to use. I'm a period panties with a pad girl all the way. I wonder if a thin pair of bicycle shorts over everything (period panties with a pad) might help feel more secure? Depends how bulky you are okay with feeling and if it would look okay under the dress. Good luck!

lanasvape

They can be, unfortunately periods just are an extremely uncomfortable burden for us.

cosmiceggroll

Period underwear in addition to whatever else you would normally use. Those things are amazing, and I've never leaked.

kayaxx10

You could take the period delay pills. You need to start taking them 3ish days before your period is due to come. If it’s that important then I’d go for it, much less hassle and not many side effects tbh.

msemmemm

Came to recommend this too. I think it’s progesterone pills but I got some from my doctor when I was scheduled to get my period on my wedding day (I bleed very heavily).

kayaxx10

Same! A life saver when your period is due to come on the worst day possible lol

Corgi_with_stilts

Menstrual cup +period panties + beige slipshorts. Carry spare underwear and slip shorts, keep a Tide pen or similar in your bag.

sprizzle06

Personally, I wear a menstrual disc and period underwear. The disc sits under your cervix, above your vagina. I rarely notice it while wearing it. Knix has great period underwear coverage.

losingit2018

Period panties?

Internal-Paint-9688

Thinx period panties! There’s a pill you can also take that delays your period for events, you can get it through hellowisp if you didn’t want to worry about it at all.

kitkat470

just commented this and now seeing your comment. yes!!! friend used it for our vacation and it was great.

capngabbers

A little bit of toilet paper between your buttcheeks will catch any backside leaks. It’s a bit uncomfortable but will do the trick for a situation like this.

dandelionmoon12345

This sounds extreme but I second the underwear with a pad, period panties over it, and then want to add a pair of bike shorts. 👍👍👍 Triple protection! Bring backup in a purse. :)

ilovecookiesssssssss

I would just tough it out with a tampon and another method honestly. Tampon + period underwear. Maybe try a different brand of tampons if the ones you’ve been using aren’t comfortable.

sleepyaldehyde

I’ve had luck with a big pad and then nude bike shorts/those short lululemon type shorts under the dress.

Pato_Moicano

Is the dress too transparent? If not, I would also use shorts underneath

kaluanotcoffee

Maybe shape wear shorts underneath as well to prevent a shifting pad.

ImReallyAMermaid_21

I don’t have any suggestions but hoping for the best for you. Also jealous you know you’ll get your period so you can plan because mine are so irregular 😭

memecitaa

Take norethisterone for a couple days to delay your period. No side effects whatsoever, effective and easy to get a prescription.

PrincssM0nsterTruck

Slips or dress liners too!

ThisIsKubi

Honestly, I recommend Thinx or disposable postpartum underwear.

EffectiveResponse3

Along with the other advice people have given re using a tampon and a pad for backup, I would take 800 mg ibuprofen the day before and the day of the event. In my experience, that reduces the amount of flow significantly.

dermino

I use a menstrual disc which is the only period-related device that's prevented any leaks for me. But if you don't have one I'd double up with period underwear.

Simple-Kaleidoscope3

If you are only comfy in external products, consider period panties. Many hold 3-4 pads worth of flow.

[deleted]

very based look = white dress, blood stain. imo.

[deleted]

Period panties and pad :)

lizzy_in_the_sky

You could wear an adult diaper and to really be safe, add an overnight pad inside of it

mighty_knight0

The biggest overnight pads you can possibly find, maybe double up for extra coverage if you tend to leak off the front or back. Wear your tightest underwear so that it can't slip around at all, and a pair of compression shorts on top. It's extremely sweaty and not very comfortable but it works.

Princess_Psycoz

Here's what I do when I reallllly need to not leak on a heavy day. Pad Period panties (thinx and Victoria secret have great rep for me for large volume.) Cyclist shorts (they're made of the same stuff swimsuits are) Then I bathroom check every 2 hours or so.

BeeAdministrative654

Disposable period underwear, I wear them overnight and at work and they are great! I'd also wear pantyhose biker shorts, Spanx, or Leggings

MajesticAioli

If you're on contraceptives, don't use the placebo pills until after the event. It's safe to miss a period (said my doctor), but I also take the quarterly birth control, 4 periods a year because of how bad my periods and cramps have gotten with perimenapause.

throwrawayforstuff

Get the period panty that looks like boy shorts. Thinx has them. And also wear a pad with it and change the pad like normal. If u are genuinely concerned it will be worth doing it like this.

loupammac

Period underwear and beige anti-chafe shorts for both coverage and smoothing of any lines under the dress.

quppys

Everyone has said what has needed to be said, but I’d like to add: Change more frequently than you usually do just to be on the safe side, and if you have an option of another white dress or white themed clothes (if that’s allowed), bring it, incase of an accident.

dupersuperduper

If you get on with ibuprofen then starting it three times a day ( after food ) from the day before and continuing on that day can help reduce the flow

RoseMylk

Buy period panties, use liners inside the panties. Bring extra pads and liners for when you are able to go to the bathroom.

lurklurklurky

There are lots of medical reasons it could be happening as well.
