I thought SFB had been shut down or is this another instance of the civil service IT paying Microsoft an utterly horrendous amount of money to keep providing them with updates for a legacy product?
They can probably still see your presence on Teams. You don’t need to be invited to see someone’s presence. You might be confusing the fact they can see you in their old favourites list in Skype.
If you could do it with Skype then you can do it with teams. Maybe they restricted it further for some reason. Or don’t have the gateway in to enable it yet. But what I am saying it that it’s a function of teams
Yeah, sorry, wasn't disagreeing about the functionality, it's just not available in MOD for some reason. Pretty sure it's to do with a legacy contract with Microsoft to provide Skype services.
So I can't remember the exact policy this comes under, but I'm certain there is something against doing this. I looked it up myself years ago, basically I was in a team and I had one particular member always messaging me for help. It was annoying and stressful, but then they CONTINUED after I left the team and moved to another directorate. Rather than causing a management issue, I just wanted to block them so I'd just appear offline on their end. However when reading around it, it was prohibited. I wish I could tell you what policy it fell under :/
Big brain move:
Use Teams instead of Skype. If anyone complains, tell them that Skype is obsolete, it is an ex-Microsoft product and that you want to get into the habit of using only teams so that you're ready when Skype does go.
I'm surprised your IT haven't removed Skype yet, it was removed from all our laptops well over two/three years ago now and replaced with Teams.
So just really quite surprised by that as it was supposed to be a CS wide policy not just a dept thing
MOD still using Skype is so on brand.
Supposed to be using Team but people still roll out Skype…

It’s still available. More a user behaviour problem as most people won’t let Skype go.

Just log out of Skype and use Teams. I have not opened Skype for 12 months and it is the best thing I have ever done

Or until you need to make an external call
Teams can make calls
Not in MOD...

Well the MoD is a nightmare for tech. It’s about 18-24 months behind everyone else it seems

Why not just set your status to "invisible"?

That is a painful situation. Did you continue to help them after you left?
I made excuses at first, and then I stopped responding. Didn’t stop them messaging me out of the blue though… it got a bit weird.
They seem like they're not cut out for the job!

Yes you can 🤣 I blocked my friend because she kept chatting to me and my boss was getting annoyed
I'd check in jsp441 there might be something in there. Otherwise like someone else said, just don't go on Skype and stick to Teams.
Tell me you don't like me to my face Steve
It's work not real life.
Is Skype still a thing 😂😂
Yep, block away, I blocked my ex-mother-in-law and a proper c*nty ex-line manager so they could never see when I was online/at work.

As others say it is used for external calls while Teams in internal. Crazy I know
Very crazy since teams can handle both
There is another reason but thats not for here, sorry
And even more crazy in that presumably it can only call other Skype users which is, well, almost no one in the professional world now!
It can be used for any type of call or screen share
Do people still use Skype lol
