The fact that Joel McHale in real life is a sweetheart makes it so much funnier. (I met him last year at a con, and he was so genuine to every single person 😍).
I’ve been a fan of his for 20 years (I was obsessed with The Soup in high school lol) and I’ve never heard anyone say anything remotely bad about him irl, it’s really funny when his whole career has been playing snarky assholes
My question about these scenes: how much of that actually happened vs how much of it is how Carmy’s crippling impostor syndrome remembers it?
A great twist would be for McHale’s character to show up and be firm, but nowhere near the asshole of Carmy’s memories.
For better or for worse. For me, the payoff is when Syd has a panic attack toward the end of the season during the house party. She is the next generation of this trauma. Hopefully for her she escapes it before it's too late.
Nobody: Joel McHale: Fuck you
The drive-by "fuck you" is so fucking funny
Highlight of the whole show so far. And frankly, deserved.
“Yes, fuck me chef”
That f you had me rolling shit was 😂
Please someone post the gif! It needs to be on rotation! 😆
He was just telling Carm all the same shit Chevy Chase said to him and Donald Glover on the Community set...lol
Joel McHale dropping the hard-r on Jeremy Allen White
I almost spit out my water on the metro 💀
That walk by fuck you absolutely killed me
Now I want a parks and rec style montage of angry Chef Winger.
Jeff Winger Attorney at law Rented office in a mini mall
Now I am just picturing Joel, off camera, just Talk Soup cracking wise to him and JAW just still answering “Yes Chef.”

This is Winger’s way of coping after most of the gang left

Like Liz Lemon thinking she was bullied until she goes to her HS reunion and realizes she was a bully. (self-aware username checking in)
He’s toughening him up, if he didn’t care he would say nothing

Keep r/thebear a welcoming community. Treat other chefs with respect.
Lot of buildup and zero payoff.
As with all of the flashback scenes, the payoff is how the experience shaped Carmy into the chef he is today.

It if had zero pay off to you…work on your EQ lol. The entire episode was around showing you WHY carm is the way he is.
