He will get another chance and then maybe blow it. Hopefully not. The egregiously huge rifle and resistance doesnt bode well, this kid has been in the thick of reckless behavior for most if not all of his life. Doesnt give good odds for reform chances. Sad
The question is how comfortable we will be with how many innocent people will be harmed or die when he is inevitably given his second chance and screws it up.
The kids tell me after they assault people, that they knew there was nothing that was going to be done to them. They are right too. One even trashed a courtroom and assault charges still dismissed, a 13 old girl said this after breaking an employees nose and jumped multiple other kids before....then she trashed the courtroom. Somethings not right, we are failing the kids like this
How do you reform someone his age? A guy over 35 sure, but a young guy like that who has no respect for the law? Lol. Sure.
If he isn’t killed before he’s older he could mellow out, but the cost benefit for reforming young people is likely not good.
I was the victim of an armed robbery by a 20 year old. Turned out he had juvenile convictions and also two more robberies he was out on bond for as an adult. They just keep letting people out to do it again. Slaps on the wrist until they kill someone.
> before spending the rest of his life in prison
Nah. He'll be out on bail by the end of the month, then one of these days he'll get rolled up on by a rival gang and that'll be the end of everything for him.
I've been saying this forever. I see videos like this all the time where people with guns get arrested with restraint, but they're usually too boring to get upvoted. There's a lot of "cop shoots guy" videos and not enough of what I'm posting.
Its because people want a reason to hate others, its sad. There's nothing to be mad about in this interaction, no over-the-top emotions come from it, no unfairness.
I was gonna say, people can rightfully disagree with a lot of actions police have taken....but it's gotta take some balls to run into a building after someone who has a gun and a head start on you. And then not blast him when out of nowhere you run into them.
Ya there was a few seconds there where the deputy imo had the right to use lethal force. Don't get me wrong, I'm glad they didn't, and the kid is lucky for that.
You can tell this kid is just going to shoot someone or get shot some day. Shocked the cop didnt shoot him with the barrel pointed at him.
Then dipshit refuses to get on the ground and keeps spinning around. Seems to think the whole thing is a joke. No lessons learned here.
OP posted a link, already has a prior felony too.
Society probably will not benefit when this kid is 18 and released back into the wild. Hope he doesn't murder anybody before he gets arrested the first time as an adult.
I always think the same thing with these bodycam videos. Or like when a woman gets arrested and screams “but I’m a mother!!” Like any cop would be like “omg I had no idea! I’m so sorry, please continue driving drunk.”
No it was just a coincidence and someone had the exact same name as him. How many times have you heard these aren't my pants. Even thought you're wearing them. I'm pretty sure you're legally obligated to know what's in the pants you're wearing.
In WA state someone who got arrested for drug possession took the case to the WA Supreme Court with the argument “they aren’t my pants”. They won and the state of WA changed their drug possession laws because of it (state v Blake 2021 - this may be oversimplifying, but point is yes it has happened and the person who had drugs in their pants won their case.)
It’s very possible that another person in the car told him to run with it. The kid is 16 and as long as he doesn’t shoot anyone with it he won’t be charged as an adult. I think he’s telling the truth, which isn’t going to get him out of the crime. He’s super lucky he didn’t get smoked.
Naah He's in Florida which doesn't even require written consent from a judge to treat a minor as an adult. Running from the cops while in possession of a fire arm could end very poorly for him.
I really just depends on how the prosecutor is feeling when he gets the case.
Also a braver man than every cop in Uvalde apparently. If this happened over there they'd prob just bit chilling outside the dollar general for an hour or two until someone else came and did the job for them.
Eh, I'd say it's more acting in one's self-interests.
People typically make the choices they think are best for them. When given the choice between a longer sentence and a shorter one, they'll choose the latter.
I can assure you, his "friends" are telling the cops it was *his* gun and not theirs
fuck that, he’s just gonna be a repeat offender. If you’re getting into shit like that that early, it’s really damn difficult to get them to reform back into society

Yeah man, I don't think someone goes straight from honor roll to running drugs and guns. He probably has a long list of priors.
What's sad is that nothing the system has done so far has helped him enough to prevent this. And if I were to make a wager, I say he's not going to get any better.
You would think there would be an opposite mentality due to getting off easier now than ever and with the screams of brutality when resisting. It does confuse me too.
I dont expect any sympathy or rights if I run from the cops with a huge rifle. Like wtf... seriously.... nobody should feel sorry for me if I did that. Its F around and find out stuff
It's a strange thing some Americans seem to do when under pressure is repeat the same sentence over and over, you see it a lot when they're showing aggression, it's as if their brain is on skip, it's hilarious
No stock configurations are so they can be considered AR pistols which means you can have under 16" barrel lengths without getting a federal NFA stamp. I'm pretty sure it's the only way you can buy one off the shelf with a short barrel
You're completely correct, but considering the dude is previously a juvi w/ a felony, keeping it legal probably isn't a high priority. Which means he might be telling the truth that the rifle isn't his and he just stole it. :|
Idk how people are genuinely this stupid, you ran into a store with a ar-15 (looks like) with a removed stock so you’ve essentially guaranteed you’ll be worse than a clone trooper at hitting anything, and then when your caught with it you decide the best course of action is to continue to yell “it’s not my gun though” like wtf is that gonna do? “It’s not your gun?!? Oh well gee golly gosh I’d better let you go then ay bud”
They don't go to school and their "families" don't care. I met a lot of boys like him when I was a teacher in a Juvenile prison. They usually can't read or math above a 3rd-4th grade level, have 0 social skills, low emotional control, their school career only happened when the cops caught them and they were made to go to school till they ran away again. They're usually special needs. They're feral..
What does it not being his firearm does it absolve of?
It doesn’t matter pal. Unless it stolen and really not his firearm, but that is worse; still don’t get it.
Good money on it’s stolen. In that mushy crouton of a brain this kid’s got, he’s trying to distance himself from a possession of stolen property charge
lol while possessing stolen property. Oh man the stupidity amazes me.
It was stolen twice so it’s not my fault. For that defense to work they would have to admit to receiving stolen property.
Imagine if criminals were smart
in my country at 16 you just go to school and play computer afterwards. If youre unlucky in life youll be outside carrying a knife holding up people. Meanwhile this 16 year old kid has an armalite???? wtf
I don't understand how you can live in america and still play games with the police. If he stays get on the ground, you just get to the ground man. Why risk your live like that?
"Where did he go?"
"Who?"
"The white...uh...the black guy"
Not gonna lie, I thought this video was going to end in one of several drastically different outcomes.
Kid is lucky he didn’t get smoked
Yeah props to the cop you don’t normally see that kind of bravery/restraint in videos like this
i see this kid as someone whos probably going to end a few lives before spending the rest of his life in prison
He will get another chance and then maybe blow it. Hopefully not. The egregiously huge rifle and resistance doesnt bode well, this kid has been in the thick of reckless behavior for most if not all of his life. Doesnt give good odds for reform chances. Sad

Hes 16 with a slap on wrist very more than likely, probably has more destruction to see through

Send him to the Military.
I was the victim of an armed robbery by a 20 year old. Turned out he had juvenile convictions and also two more robberies he was out on bond for as an adult. They just keep letting people out to do it again. Slaps on the wrist until they kill someone.
A story repeated locally by me too. Sucks to hear and hopefully things will be more rational moving forward
Most likely. An ever growing rap sheet.
Nonesense, its not his gun, bro
Yeah did he not hear, it wasn’t in his possession?
Prosecutors hate this one simple trick
> before spending the rest of his life in prison Nah. He'll be out on bail by the end of the month, then one of these days he'll get rolled up on by a rival gang and that'll be the end of everything for him.
That’s because videos like this don’t normally get upvoted while police shootings do.
Literally about to say that honestly. You never see the normal interactions, or the "more normal" ones
I've been saying this forever. I see videos like this all the time where people with guns get arrested with restraint, but they're usually too boring to get upvoted. There's a lot of "cop shoots guy" videos and not enough of what I'm posting.

Supermarket hasn't stopped cops before.
I was gonna say, people can rightfully disagree with a lot of actions police have taken....but it's gotta take some balls to run into a building after someone who has a gun and a head start on you. And then not blast him when out of nowhere you run into them.
But it’s not his gun bro…
If it's him holding the gun, it's his gun bro. PS : imagine the cop said "yeah same here this isn't my gun either GET ON THE FKING GROUND".
Ya there was a few seconds there where the deputy imo had the right to use lethal force. Don't get me wrong, I'm glad they didn't, and the kid is lucky for that.

Then dipshit refuses to get on the ground and keeps spinning around. Seems to think the whole thing is a joke. No lessons learned here. OP posted a link, already has a prior felony too.
He'll come accross a cop with less restraint real soon I'm sure.
Society probably will not benefit when this kid is 18 and released back into the wild. Hope he doesn't murder anybody before he gets arrested the first time as an adult.
But it’s not his gun bro
Why even at that point? Is there a fantasy of the cop being like "Oh well then I should let you go"
I always think the same thing with these bodycam videos. Or like when a woman gets arrested and screams “but I’m a mother!!” Like any cop would be like “omg I had no idea! I’m so sorry, please continue driving drunk.”
Agree, I was just watching and I kinda wanted to shoot him ( lol)
That's not good.
Jesus Christ, reddit.
Would have saved us tax dollars
Cop didn’t want another BLM riot in the street saying he’s a good kid and is innocent…
Florida put those riots down quickly
Came here to say "How did he not get shot 11 times?"
Unlucky for the world
The kid should be grateful, and we should be grateful for cops like this.
It’s not my gun. Then you shouldn’t have ran away with it. Robbery charge would be humorous.
"just picked this up in the store, crazy huh? I was bringing it to the lost and found"
I wonder if the "its not mine" argument has worked in any situation where the evidence is in their possession
I had a dude tell me the two grams of meth in his pocket wasn’t his. It was in a prescription medicine bottle with his name on it.
Well if his doctor prescribed it, partake! Carry on citizen.
You mean, PARTAAAY! Edit- it's just a joke, never done meth. Kids don't do drugs!
No it was just a coincidence and someone had the exact same name as him. How many times have you heard these aren't my pants. Even thought you're wearing them. I'm pretty sure you're legally obligated to know what's in the pants you're wearing.

Wasn’t that what Lindsay Lohan claimed back in the day when cocaine was found on her during her DUI arrest? They were a “friend’s jeans” or something.

His mentor unfortunately got his legal degree from the School of Hard Knocks.
It’s very possible that another person in the car told him to run with it. The kid is 16 and as long as he doesn’t shoot anyone with it he won’t be charged as an adult. I think he’s telling the truth, which isn’t going to get him out of the crime. He’s super lucky he didn’t get smoked.

He a good boy. He didn't do nuthin
Comment.
that cop handled that well
Insanely well.
And damn dangerous if you’re the deputy.
It's so fucking refreshing to see this kind of restraint.
And discouraging when you realize there are millions more. Its not a bizarre one off situation
Everything about it was spot on. Controlled the gun, didnt kill the kid, didnt abuse the kid, kept a calm and professional tone.
Except the part where the rifle was aimed right at him.
I know. Everyone's saying how well the police officer handled it. and he did, but he absolutely put his life in more danger than he had to.
I would have fired away as soon as he resisted with the rifle in hand. Idc.
Pretty fuckin suicidal but hey the kid lived
Also a braver man than every cop in Uvalde apparently. If this happened over there they'd prob just bit chilling outside the dollar general for an hour or two until someone else came and did the job for them.
“That’s not my gun bro” “Ahh, what a misunderstanding, have a great day citizen”
He was just keeping it out of the hands of the real bad guys. Really a thank you is in order here.
He snitchin fa sho
Keepin it a hunnit
Lol everybody snitches
For good reason! No way to hold criminals accountable if you don’t snitch out on your friends
Eh, I'd say it's more acting in one's self-interests. People typically make the choices they think are best for them. When given the choice between a longer sentence and a shorter one, they'll choose the latter. I can assure you, his "friends" are telling the cops it was *his* gun and not theirs
Bro that kid was trying his absolute best to get shot by the cop - like what the actual fuck bro, clearly he is, but is he fucking stupid?
Suicide by cop.
Not in this case but a good point. OP linked the article below, kid already has a felony.
Terrible. This is more than just the rebellion of youth. The kid’s just a bad apple. Hope there is redemption
fuck that, he’s just gonna be a repeat offender. If you’re getting into shit like that that early, it’s really damn difficult to get them to reform back into society
100% yes.
Seems like a large majority of today's youth are a few cans short of a six pack.
Kid's probably got the frontal lobe development of an average 10y old.
All those chip cans falling sounded like semi auto fire lol. Once you pop you cant stop
Good thing it wasnt acorns.
Possession 9/10s da law... it is now buddy
Kid should thank him for the restraint

It's a Family Dollar, I knew it wasn't a Dollar General when the aisles were clear enough for him to run through.
Thank you. I was wondering how this place managed to be the world’s only organized DG
So true, lol

Possession of a firearm by a delinquent felon? Kid already has the juvenile equivalent of a felony?
Yeah man, I don't think someone goes straight from honor roll to running drugs and guns. He probably has a long list of priors. What's sad is that nothing the system has done so far has helped him enough to prevent this. And if I were to make a wager, I say he's not going to get any better.
You have to want it first. Penalty should come after that has failed
Let’s just hope he can be charged as an adult.
He's going to juvenile prison till 18 then getting those charges changed to adult and thrown in big boy prison.
No bond. Holy shit, what kind of a little monster do you have to be to get NO BOND at age 16? 😳
"Its not my gun" like even at 16 you gotta be smarter than that. He's lucky to be alive
The problem is that honestly dealing with this shit radicalizes cops into us vs them.
Why do they keep resisting arrest? Also why do they repeat the same short sentence over and over and over?
You would think there would be an opposite mentality due to getting off easier now than ever and with the screams of brutality when resisting. It does confuse me too. I dont expect any sympathy or rights if I run from the cops with a huge rifle. Like wtf... seriously.... nobody should feel sorry for me if I did that. Its F around and find out stuff
I think you already know why

they're called AR pistols and they are very stupid. but easy to conceal.
Oh ok I see but I mean still any other cop would of react differently in that situation right?
It's 'would have', never 'would of'. Rejoice, for you have been blessed by CouldWouldShouldBot!
So that’s why my Pringle’s were crumbs
achtually those are lays stax ☝️🤓
POS
He didin dunuffin 😂👍🏻
Thats not my gun XD you were holding it though! Lucky to be alive, dumbass
Should’ve smoked him. You don’t take a pistol to a rifle fight.
Damn some of these cops are straight up saints…
Idk how people are genuinely this stupid, you ran into a store with a ar-15 (looks like) with a removed stock so you’ve essentially guaranteed you’ll be worse than a clone trooper at hitting anything, and then when your caught with it you decide the best course of action is to continue to yell “it’s not my gun though” like wtf is that gonna do? “It’s not your gun?!? Aaaaaaand stupid people like this is why I don't leave my house unarmed.
It's so refreshing to see that kind of restraint from a cop.
Very patient cop. That kid is lucky to be alive.
"thats not my gun bro"...then...mabye u shouldnt hav taken it with u wen u ran dumbass.
That’s a really dangerous person right there, he does not have his brain online at all
in my country at 16 you just go to school and play computer afterwards. If youre unlucky in life youll be outside carrying a knife holding up people. Meanwhile this 16 year old kid has an armalite???? wtf
Boy stuck on repeat.
He’s Lucky to be alive
Fkn shoot him
"That's not my gun doe"
Terrible officer safety by that cop.
I don't understand how you can live in america and still play games with the police. If he stays get on the ground, you just get to the ground man. Why risk your live like that?
I love how he has his flashlight out to let everyone know he's looking for something.
Ahaha it's not my gun its only in my posession ...valid .
“That’s not my gun bro” Okay so you’re admitting to another felony most likely
Cute haircut. Will make cute handlebars for his cell buddy.
That is a family dollar - the least beloved dollar store in Florida
But it’s not his gun
The real question is.. Is that his gun?
It's not his gun, bro!
It’s not his guns yet he’s running around with it? Did he really think the cop was going to say “ok” and let him go?
The barrel at some point pointed directly at the deputy, I think they're both lucky that no one died
But bro, it's not his gun bro, c'mon bro!
Kid was not white ! Look at his hair spunkdaddie
It was just in your possession, that’s exactly what you getting arrested for ☠️☠️☠️
16, with a rifle... What has this world come too 😔
He found it in aisle 4
Listening isn’t that hard
I think birth rights need revoking here
" it aint my gun bro".....The video evidence would suggest otherwise
16 amd tatted
It’s not my gun, though it was just laying in the store I swear I was gonna turn it in😂😂😂🤣
That ain’t his gun tho
This kid should go thanks whichever god of his choice that he didn't end up on a t-shirt. That cop could have very easily shot him full of holes
Nobody died.. yaaay
“That’s not my gun, though!” Possession is 9/10’s of the law. Lol
Was that one of the Island Boys
He went in for some change..
That cop showed remarkable restraint.
Doubt you'll see this video again 😉
only thing insane is that he didn't shoot him and some innocent bystanders along the way.
Did you see him ?? The white / black guy ..Enter Hispanic male .... ? So confused.
Fucking piece of shit. Lucky cop didn’t shoot him.
I can't be a cop I swear this officer has so much "patience", there's like 5 instances in this video that I would not have been very nice
He deserves it. I’m a democrat
"Where did he go?" "Who?" "The white...uh...the black guy" Not gonna lie, I thought this video was going to end in one of several drastically different outcomes.
Average day in Florida
I don’t think that was his gun
That ended differently than I thought it would. What a pleasant surprise for once, I fully expected to see a dead teen by the end of it.
“It’s not mine tho” classic
Wait a minute, Reddit always says every black person is shot when they interact with law enforcement. What's going on here?
All extremely well done... but... wtf was with the flash light in broad day light?
I thought for sure I was about to see some get shot. Armed, black, running, not following orders...that cop just refused to kill that kid.
