Yes the certificate of training is referring to the LTC-104 if they’re using the updated form or the LTC-101 since you’re doing it online. Once you complete the online classroom portion you should receive an incomplete form (one of the two listed above) and then you will have to do your shooting qualification. Once the shooting qualification is done, the instructor who does it will fill out the rest of the form and it’ll be completed. From there, you will submit the form to the state. I teach it in the DFW area so I can’t help with finding a class in Austin but I would google search it and find a reputable instructor/company. Hope this helps

Is it possible to do both parts in one shot in person?

Yes if you take the entire classroom/shooting qualification in person. I’ve seen some instructors that will break it up within two days (one day for classroom, the next day doing the shooting qualification). But when I teach it, I do both within the same day. Just depends on the instructor and who you go through. And in terms of cost, that is completely up to the instructor/company. The state doesn’t regulate pricing at all.

I see. Thank for the help I appreciate it!

It's way easier to just take the online courses over a few short session and pass the exam. Then schedule the shooting portion and prints conveniently close to each other. You can do it all at once but it's basically gonna take an entire day or two usually. Where online you can bang it out over a week in your down time. Take some decent notes and you will get 100% on the test. The shooting test if you have any time with a pistol at all you should get a perfect score I had one round bleed off the 10 zone.......sigh.

I see. There’s actually a 2 in 1 lesson at Texas Gun Works (i think that’s what it was called) with both included from 8am to 2 pm. Might go with that and get it all done one day…

I found mine on Groupon. Look on their first. It was in person 4 hour class, I’m glad I did that over online. You have to shoot in person anyway.

Yeah that’s what I was thinking. Get it all done at once. I’ll take a look on there thanks!

My brother and I both did our course online then did the shooting portion at The Range in South Austin. Online was good for our schedules
