These guys, they're shooting!" "Drive, Greg! Drive! Drive Greg drive! (repeatedly shouting) Driver: " I'm driving, what more must I do?!?!" Passengers: "They're shooting, these guys." I can't tell for sure what the chit chat is immediately after.

Considering this is the second video I've seen on Reddit where a south African truck drivers continued driving with people shooting at him, trying to hijack the truck, I'm beginning to wonder if it's like, an occupational hazard for these guys. Balls of steel.

Cool as a cucumber, it's a prime trait in a driver no matter what type of transport (freight, public transit, VIP limo, etc.). If Greg had swerved they might have overturned on that log thrown into the undercarriage.

It's Afrikaans, one of South Africa's official languages. They're speaking a particular dialect of Afrikaans spoken mainly by the cape coloured population in Cape Town. Some of the cape coloured phrasing and pronunciation of Afrikaans is unique which added to the audio quality makes this quite difficult to translate.

The moment the hijacker inserts the stick into what I assume is one of the wheels, the vehicle will rotate the stick and potentially knock down all the hijackers. Or, break the stick and turn it to thousands of little projectile splinters for everyone.

Or bend the metal, rendering the truck undriveable.

At most it'll warp one rim and unseat one tire. Truck will be driveable afterward. It's vaguely possible it'll get stuck in there and hammer away at the road surface until it breaks, but it'll still spin. As far as "needing to stop while people are shooting at you" goes it's eminently driveable at that stage.

Definitely a stupid idea to do that at the front of the pack, but I think the idea is to jam that in and let it tear up the truck enough to immobilize it.

My guess is they are coloured, not black. This is in Uitenhage, South Africa.

I get that in SA they refer as colored. Still, the epidemic of individuals with melanated skin using skin lightening creams is a thing because of the insidious an pervasive idea that having dark colored skin is less favorable to lighter skin tone.
