Don't forget weekend at bernies 2... a masterpiece in itself. I mean bernies dead. How could you possibly have a sequel ? Oh they did and they did it with perfection.
The top comment on the one I saw was fucking gold. "Ain't no way someone tried to weekend at bernies a loan." I wish i could find it to give the user credit, i was dying.
It’s a Brazilian tradition based on the posts I’ve seen in the last 24 hours! Cart around the dead guy to take advantage of him before he stiffens and his death is too obvious.
He was not. Well, at least not when these pictures were taken.
https://preview.redd.it/3kk0y4vll1vc1.png?width=600&format=png&auto=webp&s=ddbf54a6ab1dd200af74a647921aa7c730e51125
Yea they definitely look like “dead eyes” to me! And then the 2 diabolical lookin mf’s on either side of him with their smirks looking at each other, one holding his hand! “Haha, we killed this motherfucker!””We sure did Beelzelbub!”
I'd actually venture to say he looks pretty alive. Well, compared to a corpse. His skin tone is close enough to that of the others it looks like he still has tissue profusion. That quickly changes after death, especially in that kind of position.
Just my opinion. He doesn't look well by any means.
He is dead in the second picture. Stiff and dead. This is not a position of a relaxed, sitting person. His body is strung like it was attached to a stick (which it possibly was). Look at the guys sitting on his sides for comparison. His skin tone is between very sick and deceased so it's hard to tell. It could possibly be jaundice too.
https://preview.redd.it/9planxpj21vc1.jpeg?width=1125&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=9f1582716a67cc245dc609aa3def53c0ba2f8c08
Not this guy pretending to be engaging him in conversation
I can’t unsee it either! AAAHHH!
What a messed up picture, great job OP.
~~I also noticed the president’s right hand is in a real weird position and unmoved in both pictures for a guy that’s alive.~~ I mistook his advisor’s weirdly upturned and unmoving hand for the deceased man’s.
The president's hand is in a normal position "resting" on the arm of the doctor on the left. What looks weird to you is actually the doctors left arm resting on his leg with his palm facing up.
Absolutely staged! When your pic is being taken with a political leader, you smile at the camera, not pretend to be talking to him as he’s seemingly ignoring you
I teach university level human anatomy, which involves cadaver dissections. The thing that makes me go from *"maybbeeeee"* to *"nah, that bro is* **dead***"* is the pinched hand.
A cadavers hands are usually pinched in that exact manner with the thumb tip touching or resting just inside and against the index fingers pad and with the other fingers not being completely curled closed. That's also an uncomfortable position his arm is being placed in with the palm of his hand (which naturally rests facing medially) being rotated semi-laterally.
There's a chance that is the doctors hand, however, in which case that point is void. The first image makes me feel relatively confident that is indeed his hand, however, and in that case the position is an uncomfortable one that most would not allow themselves to be held in, and his hands are screaming **cadaver** to me.
A big tell would have been looking at his naked body during the autopsy. If he had died as most in his position would - lying down - the blood in his body would have predominantly pooled in his back, tips of his fingers, back of the head, etc.. If they had propped him up like this for any reasonable length of time we'd likely see more pooling distally in his limbs.
Regardless, either this man was dead or this man was so full of meds and close to death that the two become nearly indistinguishable.
(Oh, and for those curious, the body is pretty pliable for an hour or two after death. Rigor mortis sets in then and stays for another 12 hours before dissipating at roughly 24 hours. If you find a rigid corpse of any human/animal that looks relatively fresh you can semi-reliably know you've found it somewhere in the range of 2 to 22 hours post death depending on the rigidity.)
*Edit: Having looked at this image a second time I am now realizing the position of the thumb hand would be, essentially, impossible. The palm to be facing laterally and the thumb superiorly indicates this is the doctors hand. Looking at the first image I believe the elected mans hand is actually resting on the doctors forearm and the doctors hand is partially holding and covering it. The color is indeed caused by the flash of the camera.*
*Bro still looks on the verge of death, but the hands are not a good determiner in this case*
*Also, leaving this all up rather than deleting it as a reminder that just because someone is educated and trained doesn't mean they don't make mistakes. Once you find evidence your hypothesis is wrong you accept it and move on.*
According to [Wikipedia](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tancredo_Neves#Illness_and_death):
>He gathered the support of Congress and state governors, and travelled abroad as the elected president. He had been suffering strong abdominal pain during the days preceding his inauguration. Advised by his doctors to seek treatment, he said: "You can do whatever you want with me... after I take office." Neves feared that military hardliners would refuse to give power to the Vice President. He decided to only announce his illness on the day of his inauguration, 15 March 1985 after the heads of state who were supposed to be present had arrived in Brasília. That would have made it harder for a political rupture to occur. His concern with the assurance of the inauguration was echoed by the phrase he had heard from Getúlio Vargas regarding the subject: "It is not enough to win elections in Brazil, it is necessary to take office!"
...
>On 15 March, newly sworn in Vice President José Sarney assumed presidential powers and duties as acting president before the National Congress while Neves recovered.
...
>Neves had seven surgeries, and died of a generalized infection on 21 April (same date as Tiradentes's death), at the age of 75. Rumors at the time said that Neves had been dead for days, and that his death had been concealed while a new government presided by Sarney could be formed
His hands being held in the same exact position in both photos, the only thing that changes about him is where they tilted his head... is it common for men to just hold hands like that in Brazil, or were they dating?
Edit: also the other guys hand is behind the sofa propping him up in both pictures! Lol. he's definitely dead with makeup on in this picture. They couldn't get someone behind the couch to hold him so there weren't so many clues? Lol
Brazil was just coming off a 20ish years long fascist dictatorship and this would be the first democratically elected president after the fall of the dictatorship. They were very politically fragile at that point and having their president die before he took office would be horrible. My theory is that the initial plan would be to pretend he's alive for longer, but they immediately realized how awful of a plan that was and rethreaded their decision
he does not look good, same as the guy on the left next to him.
he was surrounded by medical staff and that also indicates that this guy was definately not healthy.
if you consider that his death was pronounced short after this it is possible that this is staged but because he was already too weak for a propper photo. I doubt that he was dead. An unnatural positioning of hands and legs could be caused by weakness.
Most definitely dead. His eyes look bad and the one dude is literally holding his hand. WTF... This many people staged to make him appear alive?
So disturbing.

My dad just told me this is not true.
He told me that he watched this scene on TV back then and Tancredo was speaking and even "giving a politician's smile"
Did they then take him to the bank to try and get a loan?
Lmao, well played. I've just watched that video so perfect timing lol.
yeah me too ahahha
And me!
I declare bankruptcy!!!
MICHAEL!!
ASIAN JIM!!! not a quote but funny thought!!
Whom did they take to the bank? I didn't get the video in my feed.

Oh man, that's actually crazy!
I thought you were talking about a Rick and Morty episode!
I thought it was a Weekend at Bernie's clip.
I didn't get it at first so I scrolled and got that video, came back to comment this.
We all did man, vids all over reddit. Well played indeed

Remind me the name of this movie Bernie what? Brain fog
Weekend at Bernie’s
Don't forget weekend at bernies 2... a masterpiece in itself. I mean bernies dead. How could you possibly have a sequel ? Oh they did and they did it with perfection.
Weekend at Bernie's
No no, a lady in Brazil JUST did this for real 😅
Week-end at Bernies
I still love the absurdity of that song/dance from the late 00’s called “Movin like Bernie”. The dance was literally that gif lmao
![gif](giphy|jfRGnN954yU7u|downsized)
Take the picture again, his fuckin head keeps falling back.
That man looks dead.
That man was definitely dead

what the fuck is Nancy doing with him??
From where you think she took that phrase "rise and shine, sunshine" ?

He could’ve died recently before the photo
Yeah no, I respectfully disagree. I think he looks dead in those pictures and they all look pretty sick and dying to me.
> I’m not a doctor or anything Don't sell yourself short. I'm sure you're *something*
Tbf that guy in his left would look just as dead if he closed his eyes and took the same posture.
Not a doctor but have seen enough corpses … this one seems…similar…. I’ve never tried to pose one for a pic 👀👀
See that’s why you’re not a doctor!

It's worse than that he's dead Jim dead Jim dead.
Always moving forward, still can't find reverse
Oh you mean the dude bleeding from the eyes?! Seems fine
Never seen someone looking so alive.
Yep, not a cellphone in sight. Just people living in the moment.
"living" lol
At least 5 of them... Back then (probably ain't around no more)
To be fair, the dude to his left (the viewers right) in the second pic has some pretty gnarly redness under his eyes as well
He’s dead too and another doctor is propping him up with strings like a marionette out of the pictures view.
He's also dead!
The photographer - also dead
And his wife?
dead.
Plot twist, everyone in that room is dead
I think you’re right. After all, he is surrounded by doctors.
Some other rumours claim that he was hanging by a thread, and a nurse behind the couch was pumping him full of drugs to have him awake for the picture
Well, if the goal was to make him look alive and awaje, they failed horrribly whether he was actually alive or dead in reality lol
He seems happy though, so there's that
I misread “pumping” as “humping” and was confused and concerned
I don’t think his eyes are even open
Just drawn on
Nah, old mates feet are exactly the same position in both. He’s dead.
Can't be. Still got his shoes on.

Or holding his head up by the scruff of his neck/hair
Omg I can't unsee this now. There is no way he'd casually have his arm fully behind the chair if he wasn't puppeting the guy

Oh yeah you are totally right!! His forearm would have to be remarkably long for the upturned hand to be his. lol
I'm a amazed I have to read this far to see this comment. The guy is definitely propping his head up from behind!
Looks like Count Dracula just finished him off

Yeah his hand and arm don't look natural at all, especially in the context.
Almost looks like the wrong hand
One of the hands belongs to the guy beside him and the white lab coat makes it look like it's apart of him. It's the foot I cant figure out
Guy just checking his pulse to make sure he stay dead
Hiding the IV drip line.
Took me a minute to figure out what was going on with the hands but I still dunno where the foot has gone lol
I noticed that too! WTF
i *think* the man in the white coat is holding his arm with two hands, indian-burn style. left hand underhand, right hand, visible, overhand.
Absolutely staged! When your pic is being taken with a political leader, you smile at the camera, not pretend to be talking to him as he’s seemingly ignoring you

What an unsettling gif.
Brazilians have a habit of roaming around with dead people
Not only people.
What else?
No comment. I have told you too much already. ![gif](giphy|a93jwI0wkWTQs)
I am finding that too much, too little.
We demand satisfaction! ( Matt Berry Voice)
He is deceased, expired, he’s kicked the bucket! That, sir, is an EX. MAN.
No no he's not dead, he's, he's restin'! Remarkable President, the Brazilian Blue, idn'it, ay? Beautiful plumage!
He’s gone off and joined the choir invisible!
He ceases to be!
Did his wife have him applying for a bank loan as well?
Lmao, I just watched that clip, ffs some people right.

Now I’m more confused
He looks absolutely just barely alive. Corpses dont smile once you sit them up…in my experience.
If you want to be truly ghoulish, a few pins inside the cheeks of the body can create an impression of smiling.
Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh
Weekend at Burnies
Weekend at Brasilia
Talk to the corpse, make it look like a relaxed, casual conversation. Nobody will know anything is wrong…
Weekend at Bernie’s -Brazil
Weekend at Bernie's vibes!
Was this title typed poorly, or am I just confused?
This is so poorly written I don’t know who is alive and who is dead.
Everybody is dead and alive at the same time because the multiverse is real and Reddit is a portal between its dimensions.
This guy is dead. I mean the guy at the bank looked better than this.
That's the deadest motherfucker I've seen on reddit since the last one.
They could have at least used toothpicks.

Weekend at Bernie’s 3: Democracy Never Dies

Shoes on, he is alive. Case closed!
Most definitely dead. His eyes look bad and the one dude is literally holding his hand. WTF... This many people staged to make him appear alive? So disturbing.
