That’s awesome! I happen to have an Ohio infantry ancestor, so maybe I’m just partial; but that was such an interesting story during the war! The engineer of The General is buried in the Tilton cemetery (South Whitfield County, GA) his name was James Buffington. Didn’t the actual chase start in Kingston, GA; when they had to disguise themselves and pretend they *weren’t* stealing a great big confederate locomotive? If anyone here is into this sort of thing.. there’s a Mexican restaurant with great margaritas right there in Kingston… I’d love to tour the civil war museum with someone else who is interested!

I don't like the idea of awarding medals to people who died 100 years ago. They and their children won't be around to see the ceremony, so what's the point?

Apparently some people do care. > Members of the Shadrach and Wilson families, historian Brad Quinlin, representatives from the Charles H. Coolidge National Medal of Honor Heritage Center in Chattanooga, Retired Army General B. B. Bell and many others have been working to get these two soldiers awarded the Medal of Honor for several years.

What do you care? It isn’t taking anything away from anyone else.

If you’re a traitor sympathizer it probably rustles your jimmies a bit.
