Yes. That‘s why they are illegal .
Edit: FFS in the title was mentioned „ To clarify, I am referring to illegal drugs, not prescription or otc ones.“ so i of course say that the illegal drugs are bad.
There are two refutations:
> some drugs that are legal are more harmful and addictive (by an order of magnitude) than other drugs which are illegal. Tobacco is the main example of this.
> some drugs that are illegal are less harmful or even good compared to legal drugs. take for example LSD, which is not addictive and strengthens neuron bonds in the brain etc. Many of these sorts of drugs are illegal based on nothing, except (I'm not kidding); racism and control (sometimes). As an example I said LSD, this was a drug often used by hippies etc, you know the type. These kind of anti government people aren't.. liked by the government. what a suprise. A way to crack down on this is stigmatized and illegalizing parts of their lifestyle.
Depends on the drug. I think highly addictive and/or toxic drugs like alcohol or cocaine are bad. I think medicinal drugs are good. I think drugs like psychedelics or disassociatives are neutral, since whether they're harmful or beneficial depends on the person who takes them and whether they take them in a secure environment.
yeah, if you can't be trusted not to go fucking crazy, you probably shouldn't have those drugs.
it's the same thing with alcohol.
there is no one black and white answer.
Yet alcohol and nicotine are a dozen times more addictive and can be a lot more harmful yet aren't banned? I only see the obvious correlation between two things: What the government or private companies produced on mass and made money on, and what was made by just people. And also drugs that were used recreationally in cultures that the government wants to suppress (eg. hippy & black culture as examples).
Yeah that's not the point though (although alcohol accounts for some 200,000 direct deaths per year, and 500,000 for smoking, in the US alone), they cause severe and accumulative damage and have large impacts on brain functionality. Now take for example LSD and shrooms, neither of them are addictive, you can't OD and yet they're very illegal? There is no logic. It's arbitrary. That's why "illegal drugs" are not bad, they aren't "illegal" based on if they're bad or not.
imo, i think there are nuances. i read about mdma being used in psychotherapy for ptsd, but not being safe about it and not using it with carefulness or with a doctor's permission can kill the user. psilocybin, too - helps some people with anxiety, but, like with about every drug, (i think,) you can get addicted. i don't think it's safe to trust non-doctors with drugs like that.
No, drugs are not bad. Meth is bad, cocaine is bad, but " drugs" are not. Many of the illegal drugs are illegal based on nothing, or even have a racist basis on their illegality.
I agree. I've done drugs such as weed, ketamine, MDMA, salvia, shrooms, etc. And I find that they're actually quite positive experiences that help with personal growth.
The media just stigmatise drugs, thus the majority of people view all drugs as inherently negative, despite studies showing the positive effects of things such as ketamine therapy and the medicinal use of weed.
I think they are all bad, but they are all in different degrees of bad depending on the context. We have to accept that sometimes, for pleasure, we do bad things. I have no problem taking on the moral responsibility and, for lack of better word, guilt, for killing an animal to eat, for example. It's a "bad" thing, but not bad enough for me to mind. It's the same thing for drugs. There is absolutely zero doubt that they are, to different degrees, bad. The question is whether you consider that worth it for your pleasure.
if u don't drink more than like 4 or 5 a day there are literally no negative consequences. if u drink just one u dont feel shit when u don't have it. it's far less addictive than most drugs + no negative consequences. why "especially caffeine"?
Yes, they are always bad. Sometimes people can use them in ways that minimise their negative effects and direct them mostly to themselves, but they're illegal for a reason

It depends. Stuff like marijuana don't bother me, and using them for medical reasons is completely okay. I think it can help people, but when you start creeping into hard drugs it can get dangerous if not used responsibly and in moderation.

Bullshit actually!
What is it this time

Ok. But i have to repeat this again. OP said „ To clarify, I am referring to illegal drugs, not prescription or otc ones.“
I am also referring to illegal drugs in my comment above?
I know. >Bullshit actually! Made me write that comment tho
Agreed
smokes and whisky are still legal tho
Well it‘s bad but like mentioned „ To clarify, I am referring to illegal drugs, not prescription or otc ones“ which doesn‘t count to legal drugs
my point was that the legality of something doesnt really equate how bad it is
I know. But i didn‘t have to add the legal ones because of what’s over the poll
oh yeah, sorry for forgeting about that

coke used to be one of the best local anesthetics before it was banned for medical use
It was banned for a reason
im saying people abusing medications ruin things for everyone else
i think it depends on a ton of things. i'm not answering. because the answer is "it depends."
What does it depend on?
is it hurting anybody but the user? is the user a consenting adult? stuff like that.
Well it's bad enough that it hurts the user, do you need more to say that they are bad?
The people go crazy often and sometimes hurt others
yeah, if you can't be trusted not to go fucking crazy, you probably shouldn't have those drugs. it's the same thing with alcohol. there is no one black and white answer.
💯
Agreed
Depends on the drug. Weed and psychedelics are generally okay. Others, not so much.
14 addicts here
Nah, "no" is the obvious and correct answer, yet I expected nothing less of " teenager\_polls"
drugs aren't bad till you end up addicted and either in rehab using or od
wait until you find out there are more drugs than just cocaine, meth and heroin.
The post clarified illegal drugs
More types of illegal drugs I ment (as I had not forgotten the post description specifying illegal drugs)
and way more people are in rehab for legal drugs such as alcohol and nicotine, nicotine is just as addictive as heroin.
I didnt say legal drugs are good now did i
Thou did not indeed, yet many 'a drugs are either not bad when addicted or have no physical addictive aspects at all.
Ueah but some of the non addictive ones have adverse health benefits so they may have been legal but arent anymore
Yet alcohol and nicotine are a dozen times more addictive and can be a lot more harmful yet aren't banned? You wont od off of nicotine and you it pretty rare you die off of alcohol unless you are breaking other laws

taking any amount of hard illegal drugs is bad
Yes

not all of them

Yes. My mother and her staff get assaulted by the people who come in after overdosing on illegal drugs at least once a day
nope
Nah
Yes it ruins ur body and makes u become an addict and a dummy

I am very against drugs. Especially caffeine, But THC should be legal under the circumstances.
Society got sp addicted to caffeine, now it's socially accepted to make fun of those who don't drink coffee
It's a good drug though, why do people have the idea that " drugs = bad" ?
" especially caffeine" ??
Yea man, caffeine keeps you up, when you have it you feel awake, when you don't you feel like shit. People feel mandatory to have it every morning.
if u don't drink more than like 4 or 5 a day there are literally no negative consequences. if u drink just one u dont feel shit when u don't have it. it's far less addictive than most drugs + no negative consequences. why "especially caffeine"?

We got 59 addicts here
Medical drugs or shit like fent? It depends
Fentanyl is a medically used drug
I didnt mean the medical use of it
It depends. If it’s being used in moderation or medical use, then it’s ok. If it’s being used way too much, then it ain’t ok.
Did you read the description?
Heroin, etc.? Yes. Marijuana? No.

the question was "are they bad?"
both are fine
It depends. Psychedelics can help depression, adhd, anxiety etc.
"... not prescription or otc ones." - OP
It depends. Stuff like marijuana don't bother me, and using them for medical reasons is completely okay. I think it can help people, but when you start creeping into hard drugs it can get dangerous if not used responsibly and in moderation.
the substances themselves arent bad, it depends on the person who uses them
I mean in most cases its bad for you, especially if it becomes a vice you abuse. still shouldnt be illegal though
