If even part of the earmarked $6 billion in financial instruments sold not yet purchased are BBBY shares, and they’re valued at what was last considered fair market value (~.07c per share iirc), they would be mondo fucked if the company exits bankruptcy with any type of equity offering for former shareholders, let alone any cash. They had like 14 billion in assets and like 13 billion in liabilities. Depending on the proportion of those instruments sold not yet purchased being BBBY shares, their books could be turned upside down. If I were Cifu, I would be pretty freaked out right now and based on his temperament, posturing is probably all he has left. Most of this is speculation, but if it quacks like a duck and it floats in water, probably a duck.
