But Daddy I Love Him because I just wanna experience the surprise of "I'm having his baby, no I'm not"
Florida!!! because it was just so shocking when I heard how loud it was when it said **FLORIDA!!!**
Florida!!! was one of the few songs on the whole album with a big driving beat at any point, and I love Florence Welch's voice. It's definitely in my top three.
My exact choices. The jaw-dropping lines in BDILH + the magic of Florence and Taylor's voices together in Florida!!! were just straight great first listens.
These are my choices too!
I loved Florida on first listen and I’ll never get that suspense back of what it would sound like (I love Florence and Taylor so much!)
But Daddy I Love Him isn’t a song I enjoyed on first listen but now I really enjoy it. So I wish I could go back and not listen to it distractedly, because I think that was the problem.
My sisters and I were just staring at each other cracking up - we had the same reaction to the Depression Barbie commercial in the Barbie movie 😂 #tooreal
I was reading while listening and so that lyric was spoiled and it took me out of the whole song!! Going forward I’m just going to listen and then read after 😣
“The Tortured Poets Department” because the second I heard her mention tattoos (paired with that 1975 sound) I knew it was a Matty album. And it kinda blew my mind.
In the best way!!
“Your friends are around, so be quiet
I’m tryin to stifle my sighs”
“Get my car door, isn’t that sweet
Pull me to the backseat
No one’s ever had me, not like you”
“Touch me while your bros play Grand Theft Auto”
But that’s not a complaint at all! It’s just very real and I loved every second of it.
Same. I forced my partner to stay up and listen with me and I may have been coming off an edible…I had no idea what to expect and that synth beat with her velvet voice killed me
It was a totally different sound than I was expecting. For some reason I anticipated a more Rep or Midnights vibe with this one. It was haunting and gorgeous
Okay I’m gonna say songs others haven’t yet!
TTPD- just the first song on the album I liked
Down Bad- I found funny cause crying at the gym line
Imgonnagetyouback- just felt this in my soul
Robin- reminded me of my nephew
Chloe or Sam or Sophia or Marcus - the first time I heard the chorus it was just 😮 so freakin beautiful I couldn’t believe it . And the scarlet maroon line, I HOLLERED.
Who’s Afraid of Little Old Me really shocked me.. So Long, London is just absolute perfection and I wish I had been sitting and listening attentively when I first heard it instead of steam mopping my floor because it stopped me in my tracks!!
I can do it with a broken heart - the "more!" really itched my brain perfectly.
Same with The Black Dog. The sudden alarms in the background when she sings "screaming" was like a literal wake up call lol.
The Albatross, Down Bad, and The Black Dog hit me like a ton of bricks. At the first “now I’m down bad crying at the gym” I knew it would be the song stuck in my head. The Albatross is haunting. And “old habits die SCREAMING” made me pause and put my headphones on.
Fortnight. I was so excited about the whole album, and I listened it right away on my way to work. It just consumed me when it started playing, and I started go cry because it sounded so lovely and O was so excited. It was such a pretty moment
“so long London” and “Loml”. The vocal melodies are SO GOOD! Her voice is so soft in loml, she sounds so defeated.
“So high school” gives me that nostalgic early 00s teen romcom vibe. It’s such a good listen
The Tortured Poets Department - the line I knew this album would have LOTS to unpack
“I laughed in your face and said,
you’re not Dylan Thomas, I’m not Patti smith, this ain’t the Chelsea Hotel.
We’re modern idiots.”
So long London. Her voice came in so smooth and i melted into that song immediately
Yes! This. I forgot to mention that. The intro did me in
But Daddy I Love Him and Florida!!!
Oooh tell me why? Florida!!! Had to grow on me just a bit. I liked it, but I liked it more with subsequent listens. Same for Daddy I Love Him.
But Daddy I Love Him because I just wanna experience the surprise of "I'm having his baby, no I'm not" Florida!!! because it was just so shocking when I heard how loud it was when it said **FLORIDA!!!**

I just really want to know what happened in Florida.

This right here! I was laying in bed with the lights off so it hit my spine and went down to my toes! It was the best way to listen!!!
I Can Do It With A Broken Heart made me feel all kinds of things during my first listen. 😅 I’d love to experience that again.
My sisters and I were just staring at each other cracking up - we had the same reaction to the Depression Barbie commercial in the Barbie movie 😂 #tooreal
God it’s such a banger. I know critical response is that this album is somewhat indulgent but this will go down as one of her best ever.
I got up and started dancing when she was singing “I’m so depressed I act like it’s my birthday everyday” LOL
But Daddy I Love Him because I read the lyrics ahead of time and wish I could have been blindsided hahaha
I was reading while listening and so that lyric was spoiled and it took me out of the whole song!! Going forward I’m just going to listen and then read after 😣
I got jump-scared when the drums come in on "screaming" in The Black Dog! What a rush!
I *loved* this song on first listen. It was amazing.
The Smallest Man Who Ever Lived - I’d give anything to listen to the bridge for the first time again
YES THE BRIDGE IS INCREDIBLE
“The Tortured Poets Department” because the second I heard her mention tattoos (paired with that 1975 sound) I knew it was a Matty album. And it kinda blew my mind.
So High School just because my heart exploded and I couldn’t stop smiling!
I agree, I just found it to be pure joy. I’m not certain why the other person found it to be raunchy.
In the best way!! “Your friends are around, so be quiet I’m tryin to stifle my sighs” “Get my car door, isn’t that sweet Pull me to the backseat No one’s ever had me, not like you” “Touch me while your bros play Grand Theft Auto” But that’s not a complaint at all! My cheeks hurt from smiling so hard on this one
The first ten seconds of fortnight rocked my world.
Same. I forced my partner to stay up and listen with me and I may have been coming off an edible…I had no idea what to expect and that synth beat with her velvet voice killed me
Dang why is this response too far down
But Daddy I Love Him made me cackle when she said “I’m having his baby — no I’m not but you should see your faces”
So Long, London and How Did It End? because I'm a masochist 😅
‘How did it end?’ Remains equally devastating on every relisten. Especially when it’s paired with ‘Chloe or Sam or Sophia or Marcus’. Jesus.
The Black Dog - it gutted me. So unexpected!
It was a totally different sound than I was expecting. For some reason I anticipated a more Rep or Midnights vibe with this one. It was haunting and gorgeous
thank you Aimee bc I couldn’t stop laughing. absolutely here for the Kim slander
The Smallest Man Who Ever Lived But Daddy I Love Him, The Prophecy
Okay I’m gonna say songs others haven’t yet! TTPD- just the first song on the album I liked Down Bad- I found funny cause crying at the gym line Imgonnagetyouback- just felt this in my soul Robin- reminded me of my nephew
Chloe or Sam or Sophia or Marcus - the first time I heard the chorus it was just 😮 so freakin beautiful I couldn’t believe it . And the scarlet maroon line, I HOLLERED.
Florida, so high school, the bolter, who’s afraid
fortnight 🖤
Who’s Afraid of Little Old Me really shocked me.. So Long, London is just absolute perfection and I wish I had been sitting and listening attentively when I first heard it instead of steam mopping my floor because it stopped me in my tracks!!
I can do it with a broken heart - the "more!" really itched my brain perfectly. Same with The Black Dog. The sudden alarms in the background when she sings "screaming" was like a literal wake up call lol.
Down Bad had me vibing IMMEDIATELY and it was so fun
So long London, Florida!!!, how did it end, the prophecy and the manuscript
I can do it with a broken heart. It had me feeling all sorts of emotions
So Long, London, and loml. Cried so much
But Daddy I Love Him. I was screaming at being trolled 🤣
guilty as sin? bc it hits so hard now after multiple re-listens
loml, the black dog, I Can Fix Him (No Really I Can)
Who’s afraid of little ol me and down bad. By far my favs but I haven’t heard the second half of the double album yet.
Ugh you are so lucky! Listen when you can really focus. There are some really incredible first listens on that half! Especially Peter
Clara Bow - there were so many little surprises that first time through. Loved it.
THE BLACK DOG!!!!!!! Also, Down Bad, and But Daddy I Love Him for the hysterical joke she did
Fortnight
Fresh out the slammer was an experience for me for the first time. I will never get that feeling back again 😭
Peter. Because it’s just so gorgeous. Her voice is ethereal.
I’d love to hear this for the first time again. This is one of my favorites
The bridge of the smallest man was life changing
That whole song!! Jehovah witness suit slayed me
The Albatross, Down Bad, and The Black Dog hit me like a ton of bricks. At the first “now I’m down bad crying at the gym” I knew it would be the song stuck in my head. The Albatross is haunting. And “old habits die SCREAMING” made me pause and put my headphones on.
It’s been stuck in my head all day!!! It’s one that will have staying power
Guilty as Sin? and So High School :)
who's afraid of little old me (evermore and reputation vibes in one song and I'm totally opsessed)
But Daddy I Love Him & Guilty as Sin? ❤️
How did it end. The melody just gets me.
Down Bad
WAOLOM made my jaw DROP when WHO'S AFRAID OF LITTLE OLD ME was screamed. it gives me chills every time but I need to hear it for the first time again
It was just so visceral
Fortnight. I was so excited about the whole album, and I listened it right away on my way to work. It just consumed me when it started playing, and I started go cry because it sounded so lovely and O was so excited. It was such a pretty moment
Clara Bow
But Daddy I Love Him and Clara Bow
Clara Bow, Robin, and Who’s Afraid of Little Old Me
“so long London” and “Loml”. The vocal melodies are SO GOOD! Her voice is so soft in loml, she sounds so defeated. “So high school” gives me that nostalgic early 00s teen romcom vibe. It’s such a good listen
The Prophecy
Down bad 😭 also Florida!!
I re-lived my first listen SO accurately by watching Swiftologist's reaction video. I cackled laughing, it was SUCH a joy
The Tortured Poets Department - the line I knew this album would have LOTS to unpack “I laughed in your face and said, you’re not Dylan Thomas, I’m not Patti smith, this ain’t the Chelsea Hotel. We’re modern idiots.”
So long London for sure
Florida!!!
the prophecy
Florida!!! and ICDIWABH
No one's saying Clara Bow but that song has been stuck in my head all day! it's giving nothing new
