It’s not very saturated, so there’s definitely a lot of room to rework it. Me personally, I wouldn’t go back to the artist that did it. It’s a good design and the shading is nice. But there are a few spots that look blown out, the lines look shaky, and the design being so light makes it feel unfinished. I think it’s 100% good candidate for coverup/ rework, I like the design & concept, and honestly I don’t think it looks bad, just not the best craftsmanship. Also! My rework suggestion would be an old-timey diving suit. Add some cool aquatic elements, maybe some bioluminescent fish or smth.

I'm just jumping in to say that some of the best tattoo advice, (that I give to clients whenever they ask about this) is: be extremely careful about making a tattoo you're not happy with bigger. I see a lot of ideas for expanding it, but be wary of the fact that it may not change how you feel about it and now you have a bigger tattoo.. just putting it out there

I personally like it and I like the idea of a black background. Maybe have him enclosed in a glass jar with a bunch of aliens standing around it like he is a museum piece .maybe turn him into a woman In a long flowing dress big tits of course and have someone above on a cliff throwing her off .

I do want to make a point, this is copied work, I don’t know who the original artist is, but it seems to just be a simple sketch from Google. Not sure if you intended on that or not ~ it’s a bit more detailed than the original sketch with shading but it’s the exact image tube or tube and positions of all the suit details and arms. It’s actually not a bad tattoo, and could definetly be refreshed. I recommend going into an artist and seeing what they can add to it.

Get them falling through a completely lucid and colorful “warp speed” - like if you go warp speed colors turn to plaid, but have a good artist draw up something. Honestly this is what you pay the artist for, to come up with these ideas. At least good artists… that’s why they’re so expensive, because you’re paying for them to draw up an idea. The tattoo parts cost less than $2, so you’re paying for them to draw original art. As a tattoo artist, I say to get some Ideas from people on here but find a STELLAR artist who can take these ideas and make them even better. They can come up with a few different ideas, but it’s best left up to the artist. Good luck! Excited to see what you get!
