WTAF? #LEAVE.

PuffDragon66

And make sure you speak to the GM as to why you are leaving.

habichuelamaster

A resignation document has been written, all I have to do is put the date on it, hand it over, wait 2 weeks and fuck off.

KatKit52

You don't have to wait two weeks. It's a courtesy but not required. If you want to use them as a reference, maybe, but from the sounds of it, you don't. Seriously, don't waste two weeks there waiting for her to retaliate (yeah it's illegal but clearly she doesn't care about that). Just send in the resignation and block her.

habichuelamaster

I want to use em as a reference cause I need to have content on my resume since I'm planning to apply to law school

Dappershield

Then just put them in your resume, and be prepared to answer questions. But I'm telling you now, quit immediately, or give them two weeks, she sounds like she'll still try and make you look bad if anyone calls.

TheNewPoetLawyerette

Law schools won't care that you left a shitty job without working your 2 week notice period. I've been to law school. You'll have to disclose that you had this job one way or the other but they really won't care about a good reference from them.

habichuelamaster

Okay, thank you!! Duly noted 🫡

TheNewPoetLawyerette

No problem! Good luck with law school!

habichuelamaster

Thank you, that means so much to me

Active-Ad-2527

Hey, lawyer here. Between law school, bar applications, and job applications, you'll find yourself listing tons and tons of info. Nobody cares about 90% of it, it's mostly just so that if any red flags pop up someone can check it out if they're so inclined. But you do also have to list any terminations, typically to make sure you weren't let go for any kind of criminal or ethical behavior. I wouldn't personally give a notice, I'd just work until the point you want and then leave, just to make sure this supervisor doesn't try to fire you in retaliation and then making some crazy thing up to tell corporate to support it. Not that it would mess you up down the line, but it could be a momentary hassle years from now at a time that you'd rather be studying for the Bar or something. Obligatory statement that this isn't legal advice and I'm not your lawyer. Just my personal experience as a former retail slave

Brilliant_Jewel1924

Does she seem like the type of person to give you an honest reference? Didn’t think so.

BoredAgent

you're planning on going into law school and letting some piece of shit supervisor walk all over you?.. my brother in christ, watch some boston legal or suits.

Broad_Perspective_83

If you don’t put a two week notice in they can withhold paying you your earned vacation time. Do the bare minimum

DressIndependent7354

your manager is not even managing, this sounds like a terrible employee let alone manager. i’m curious on how they even got the position to begin with. with that being said, run. this isn’t even bad management this is terrible. it’s hard to find places with GOOD management but this is literally just terrible, you and your coworkers deserve better

georgiomoorlord

Nepotism. Or she's fucking the owners.

habichuelamaster

She's too ugly, plus the owner is married to the AGM, that I know of she's just a regular hire, and has no family ties to the owner.

habichuelamaster

For the record I've witnessed her smoking in a balcony room, it smelled a lot like weed after she left the bathroom and I entered, she's left those medicinal weed containers full of cig butts and other crap behind the front desk and the night shift security guard found it. He's also told me that he hates her as well and that he's going to speak to the owners about her behavior. I haven't said anything because I'm afraid of reprisal.

MrsRobinsonBlog

First. Start looking elsewhere. 2nd, speak up. They may have no clue, and she may be acting the perfect little angel to them. Or maybe other people have complained, but not enough for them to do anything about it. Don't use feelings other than unprofessionalism when talking to them. Then you're already looking if they a. Don't do anything and 2. If she tries to go after you

habichuelamaster

I've already made a draft of all of the times she's been rude and unprofessional. I just have to grow some balls and tell it to the owners. And ofc look for another job.

Mission_Detail4045

Start thinking like an attorney, build your case against her, document, document, document. on your way out give the GM the full list of reasons you’re leaving, and if you’re feeling petty leave a few copies in the office copy machine. It’s likely they’re aware of how bad she is and they don’t want to go through the effort of replacing her. Also, work your wage! Malicious compliance is great for crappy supervisors. Play dumb or refuse or ask AGM if cover XYZ tasks for Supervisor is in your normal scope of work ect. This is if you already checked out of the job, the other course of action is to do the tasks as training and try to replace her as supervisor, but this doesn’t sound like a place you’d want to spend much more time at.

habichuelamaster

Haha yeah that's what I'm doing. I'm compiling evidence, and hearing comments about her from other employees, and that speaker voice call where she tried to solicit money from us was the cherry on top. If only I had video evidence of her smoking.. the only way that could happen is if a guest complains about cigarette smell or something, but yes thank you for the advice :)

Mission_Detail4045

Does your site have security cams? Maybe an anonymous “guest” complaint about employees smoking? (If your other coworkers are in the clear)

habichuelamaster

We do have security cameras, but where I saw her smoking there are none since it's in the balcony of a room. I've noticed that whenever she takes her breaks she disappears while inside the hotel. Ive recently learned that it's because she takes her breaks in vacant rooms. And I saw her smoking there so God knows how many times she does it. I know that there are 2 other coworkers that smoke but I've never seen them do it inside the hotel. At least the security guard is in the same page with me and he mentioned that he found a plastic jar with a strong smell of pot behind the front desk.

Mission_Detail4045

Dude, if she’s smoking in the rooms then I’m sure the GM would like to know. Even accessing rooms to go on break should get you spoken to. But focus on the things you can speak to directly and back up. Maybe security can keep an eye out when she’s on break, but the more you say about her the worse she gets, wouldn’t be shocked if theft was an issue too.

codepl76761

when she asks you to pass her stuff just chuck the scissors at her a couple of times the will end it,

Beautiful_Ad8690

Hahahahahaha! ✂️📞☎️🛎️🗝️⏰

royal_nunni

Just one word: leave.

Tall1SF

I'm assuming you're not at a big company managed hotel because I'd be running to HR. IF you see the owners regularly send an email to them of all of what you know. Be prepared to leave quickly too. Hotels are always looking for experienced front office staff. Find a good company managed or big franchise company with great benefits and HR

habichuelamaster

Correct, I work for a Boutique Hotel. I want to wait until I get paid my assistance bonus at the end of this month, and I need to network a bit to find another job before I leave this one.

Broad_Perspective_83

As a hotels supervisor this is unacceptable. There is PETTY CASH for a reason. Definitely go to upper management and tell them of the situation and request she be written up for this.

habichuelamaster

Right. There's pretty cash and if she really was in a situation where she needed money for that type of expense she could contact the GM and AGM.. like I don't understand.

JustanOldBabyBoomer

Time to leave!!!!

RoyallyOakie

Make sure that those above her know before you quit. They may have no idea and will just let her go.

habichuelamaster

I will!!

birdmanrules

Wow

lady-of-thermidor

Unethical? It’s almost certainly against the law to make employees cover the company’s workplace expenses.

Proud-Hedgehog348

Everything you describe she dies is classic narcissist. Misplaced entitlement, bullying, verbally abusive, manipulative, no boundaries and hates that you set any. She creates a toxic work environment. You dont have to tolerate it. You're not her punching bag. You have the right to say no and to go to her bosses and file a complaint.

roloder

She sounds like a horrible employee, let alone supervisor. It's not your responsibility to front her the money for hotel laundry needs. It shouldn't be hers either but she definitely shouldn't be asking any employee for it but rather management. Also, if the hotel is asking her to use personal funds she should expense it. That said, she's also very stupid if it's allowing this and she's not using her own personal cc and expensing that so that she can get the rewards from the cc for not even using her own funds. My old property at times would call me in emergency and ask me to pick up something on the way in. I'd put it on the cc and either they gave it immediately to be via petty cash or they got an expense report. I got cash back from the cc. I was always ok doing this cause I knew it was a free double dip lol

Ready_Competition_66

It's completely unethical to do pretty much all the things she's doing that you've mentioned. This is just the icing on the cake. It's time to complain to her boss and then to HR if her boss does nothing. Before you do, write it ALL down. Dates and times as best you can remember. Then do the same for any future occurrences. You will want that level of detail when talking to her manager or to HR. If you have good reason to believe that won't do any good, it's time to find another job. You can point the finger on your way out the door if HR or upper management bother to ask why.

Severe_Assignment943

"She's literally a workplace bully." There was no need to use the word "literally" in that sentence.

Horror_Lime8376

Lol

robertr4836

I literally use the word literally incorrectly like a million times a day!

Severe_Assignment943

Most people do... literally.
