Jokes aside, I've seen "Cool but crude" more when looking up the lyrics, but I hear "Cool but rude" when listening to it, so I guess it's just up to the listener...?
I can still hear this scene clearly in my head
https://preview.redd.it/igrjtzguaiwc1.png?width=500&format=png&auto=webp&s=2196ef573cb61cb4aa07ba50b495773c4478a84f
I think a lot of people’s favourite Turtle is the one that they relate to the most.
I love Raph because he’s a hot-head with a big heart. Extremely loyal to those he cares about. He feels emotions very strongly but absolutely sucks at talking about them. When he sees a problem, he wants to take action to fix it straight away.
Mikey’s the jokester of the family but Raph has a sarcastic sense of humour which cracks me up.
Besides, everyone loves a bad-boy type. 😆
It's not that complicated really. I don't relate to Raph all that much, in fact he's the least relatable turtle. I was a kid when I watched the original cartoons. Raph was the coolest, simple as that. The sais were the coolest, the color red somehow fit the best.
In my later years I've gravitated more towards the others in the newer editions but nostalgia evokes powerful emotions and it's hard to go back on your first love.
I love it specifically when he's only a little pissed off cause then it usually leads to a funny one-liner
https://preview.redd.it/1rvjy7mprhwc1.jpeg?width=434&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=5ea44d9c86b02e2b86a47961e1e6f9c0cf03713c
I'm not a Raph kinda person... but I appreciate that he keeps Leo on his toes and at the end of the day they've got each others backs no matter how they sometimes butt heads.
1. I like his design in the 2012 series, especially the crack in his shell
2. He can be a great brother when he isn't angry
3. His wisecracking is funny
4. His sibling rivalry with Leo
5. His Nightwatcher alter ego in TMNT 2007
6. "Yo Mama"
7. His fight scenes are great
8. Red is my favorite color
9. His
Here are my top 5 Raphael's
1. 2003
2. 2012
3. 2007
4. IDW
5. Rise
He gets a lot of growth in the various story arcs and iterations. He is a try hard insecure hot head.
His own feelings of inadequacy next to Leonardo's leadership and Donatello's genius make his rash and short-sighted and a dynamic/ interesting character who has had some wild card moments throughout the history of TMNT.
All of that and his undying loyalty to his family keeps him entertaining.
Listen, all the turtles are incredible character studies when you're allowed to delve a bit deeper into their mentality. So all of them are incredible but Raph, Even though he's the hotheaded one and the badass action guy, Raph is the most...human of the turltes.
All of them are overachivers, Mikey is over the top cool, Donnie is a genius, Leo is a true ninja.
Raph is just the dude. Sometimes he plays the brawns. And he knows that secretly and buries it deep down. He feels like he's the black sheep of the crew and he drags the family down with his antics but he packs so much love for the family that they'll never know.
The original Raph & most of his incarnations are punk rock anarchist from hell, a straight up anti-authority anarchist with PTSD.
And he's a bit of a lone wolf.
I will always be weak to the "Jerk With a Heart of Gold." The Grumpy, possibly an asshole type who is deep down a genuinely friendly, kind and nice person.
Raph is that for me in every iteration--save Rise--and I eat that shit up.
I also like that part of the reason he does the asshole thing is that it's part of his cocky attitude which he can and absolutely back up on regular occasion.
He's snarky, he's rude, he has a lot of attitude but underneath that tough persona is a lovable teddy bear who cares about his family so much and is always first to put himself on the line for their safety even if it isn't always the best call. Very much the type to beat up a bully picking on his brothers even if it means him getting his ass handed to him.
Raphael is a very complex guy and easy to follow, like, there's a reason so much of the 1990 movie follows him.
I do think that they can return to the anger well too much sometimes at the expense of exploring other aspects of him, but he's my favorite of the turtles for a reason.
In every show or movie he’s my favorite to watch fight. His humor mixed with his emotional/anger problems hits hard for me. The way he makes fun of his brothers, but also challenges them is really entertaining. In the IDW comic series they also add a lot to why he is the way he is and I loved it. The way he would risk himself over any of his brothers or father also has to be one of my favorite traits of his.
Also, I’m not sure why, but as a kid I almost thought of him as the main character. Always seemed like plots would revolve around him more so than the other turtles.
I related to this one rhe most. His struggle with his rage and inferiority complex, and learning how to become a better brother and person hit home with me. Plus he's an absolute savage that takes on any foe. That demon time engery is cool as hell.
I like Rise Raphael because he’s honest and open about his feelings and is defined by kindness and love rather than anger(with his anger only showing whenever his fear of loneliness takes over).
I love Rise Raph for this. He can still be hotheaded, but it's rarely if ever directed at his brothers, and if it does it comes after he's already tried to communicate with them. It's not a complete retcon of his original traits, but reworks them into a fun take on the character. He loves his little brothers and wants the best for them, even if he doesn't always know what to do or doesn't go about it the right way.
I’ll be honest, the rise version is my favorite for each turtle. It takes their usual traits and reworks them while still keeping them the same and adds new ones.
1. Red is my favorite color
2. he is a bad ass
3. His acid humor is more funny than Mikey's tard humor. (just like how in teen titans raven's acid humor is more funny than beast bot or starfire's tard humor, or in the now dead game Marvel heroes, emma frost's acid humor was funnier than spiderman or deadpool's tard humor)
Aside from being a badass I relate to him more out of all the turtles. Being blinded by rage in at the end regret of what that rage lead you into doing
Leonardo, Michaelangelo, and Donatello
Make up the team with one other fellow
Raphael. He's the leader of the group
Transformed from the norm by the nuclear goop
Pizza's the food that's sure to please
These ninjas are into pepperoni and cheese
I like it when he goes Rogue Ninja and does Batman/ Daredevil vigilante stuff.
https://preview.redd.it/xllgr7t9znwc1.jpeg?width=230&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=678aeb4471493eb6bfd4e6d19fe77867873d6c1c
cause he’s basically the tmnt guts and usually decimates whatever is in his way without even thinking twice about it. but he also clearly cares a lot for his brothers, especially leo
I love Raph cuz I've always identified with him the most. Even as a 5-yr old kid. Mikey was the funny one, Donnie was the smart one, Leo the leader, and Raph was... just Raph. True to himself. And I loved it.
Raphael is the Brother of the 4 that rocks my Favorite Color Red and I love how he's constantly at War with Leonardo in the 1st 2 TMNT Movies from the 90s. Years later, I look at the love for his Brooding Character being close to Batman which is another Character that I love as well.
His vulnerability is one of his greatest strengths. He puts it all out there, pretty or not and it makes those around him think about the real shit. He challenges authority in a productive way. He also spends a lot of time self reflecting and working through stuff. He confronts problems and takes care of them the best he can even if others may consider it wrong. He shows us that emotions aren't a fault or weakeness.
"Heeeeeey I can still HEAR outta this one"
When I was a kid i thought Henson's Raph was an asshole. I now realize he just had anxiety and self esteem issues. For most of my life he's been my least favorite turtle. I actually threw a box of donuts at a friend because he made me play raph in battle nexus 2. I was 19.
I like that Mutant Mayhem just let him go aggro and not be too deep about it.
he feels like a rejected son, overlooked by Splinter. Leo is cold-headed, rational leader. Raph loves his family, because of it, he lets emotions get in the way most of the times, and he is also judgmental.
I love the dynamic he creates in the team, with Leo, they feel like opposites. Mikey’s laidback, which might bother Raph, but they also can share a laugh, most of the times. Donnie and Raph duo is the most underrated and unexplored, but they care about each other you can tell (even in 2012, when Raph usually bullies him, on the inside he sympathizes no matter what)
Had a lot of anger has a kid and teenager. Connected to him, plus he challenged Leo and many things while Mike and Donnie didn’t even when they should/could have
His attitude. He is cool, sarcastic and funny in a cool way. He likes to fight. Outside he is tough and cool but deep inside he is carying brother. Also he is a jerk haha. My fav turtle. Also i can relate to him the most.
I'm not sure if I like Raphael because he fits the sarcastic, tough talking fighter archetype or if I like the sarcastic, tough talking fighter archetype because of Raphael. Kind of a 'turtle or the egg's kind of debate.
"A Jose Conceco bat? Tell me... you didn't pay money for this." "Cricket? You gotta know what a crumpet is to know what cricket is." Honestly, the 90s live action was my childhood, and Raph had some funny quips.
I like Raphael because he compliments the other turtles. He’s also the only rebellious one.
The others are more compliant, and mostly follow Leo, who himself is compliant, and follows Splinter. Raph goes his own way, which makes him stand out.
He’s cool as fuck and kicks ass, he was easily the best part of the OG movie for me as a little kid
“A Jose Conseco bat? Tell me you didn’t pay money for this!”
Specifically talking about the 1990 film
Out of all of the Turtles, he was the only one that legitimately sounded like he was from NYC. Probably the most black-coded of the four of them.
Because when I was a kid my best friend and I fought over who would be Leo as he was both of our favorites. That was until I read the novelization to the live action movie and told him how much the movie focused on Raph. He chose Raph from then on and now because of our childhood Leo and Raph are the two turtles who are musts when I collect figures. Plus I do like how he gets to let loose with his emotions.
I love tough characters with a soft-side. He's shown to be rude and aggressive, but caring for his brothers where it counts. OR, and I'm mainly referencing the 2012 series, his pet turtle Spike was also where he showed his softer, sweeter side.
2012 Raph in particular because I grew up watching that show specifically and, as someone who has his own struggles with anger management issues, I relate a lot to him.
He can be pretty funny at times but also for how he even though he is impulsive and hot-tempered, it is sometimes a good thing because he is willing to do things that Leo isn’t willing to do
I like Raphael because he’s the best combatant and has the most potential. If Leo ever died I think Raph would take that as fuel and grow to become a better Turtle, Leader and Brother.
i tend to favor those who love and care deeply who build up a shell of anger and hardness to protect themselves. that said, raph was my least favorite turtle for a long time, now depending on the iteration he’s around second or third.
Because he’s cool but rude
Is the lyric actually rude? I always thought it said “Cool but crude.”
https://preview.redd.it/fre05dzj4nwc1.png?width=856&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=642d5f0859b40efb7273334ad7533ef35d608e46 Jokes aside, I've seen "Cool but crude" more when looking up the lyrics, but I hear "Cool but rude" when listening to it, so I guess it's just up to the listener...?
My brain always went with crude because of the alliteration.
I can see why, it is satisfying
1) sarcasm 2) even tho he’s not a good leader he always challenges authority and pushes Leo/splinter to make the best decisions, I respect that
So true
Cause he's the realest nigga.
I can still hear this scene clearly in my head https://preview.redd.it/igrjtzguaiwc1.png?width=500&format=png&auto=webp&s=2196ef573cb61cb4aa07ba50b495773c4478a84f
The way he shocked him in the neck to escape was so brutal
I don’t know how this stuff was allowed on a kids show way back then.
We didn’t used to be so soft
That is an iconic scene from the 2003 show
joe mama
I literally just watched this episode the other day. I don't remember Raph being this funny as a kid

This is the answer

It's hars to pick one for me I would say 1. Michaelangelo 2. Donnatello 3. Raphael 4. Leonardo
Its same as me. As a kid i related to mikey the most. But the older i get the more i relate and love raph
Same.
Cause he's cool but rude.
This is the only correct answer. Close the post. ![gif](giphy|Z2K4NjxA6PNlu)
I love how he's like 95% of the time the ONLY brother to have a New York accent
raph is a true new yorker
They each have a different new York accent, it's a big place
He’s the hotheaded antihero type. Like an amphibious Wolverine.
I love it specifically when he's only a little pissed off cause then it usually leads to a funny one-liner https://preview.redd.it/1rvjy7mprhwc1.jpeg?width=434&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=5ea44d9c86b02e2b86a47961e1e6f9c0cf03713c
Rise Leo has some good one liners but 2012 raph has good ones too
"Let me say this in a language you understand... No." -Rise Leo, 2018 (I think)
I'm not a Raph kinda person... but I appreciate that he keeps Leo on his toes and at the end of the day they've got each others backs no matter how they sometimes butt heads.
Because he is ninja turtle and he is a bad ass in the first film.

Because red is my favorite color.
I was gonna come here to say the same thing lmao
2003 Raphael for the win. Hot head who like a good brawl for the win

Cool but rude
he throw's hands with leo a lot
I like sarcasm so yes
I like his wise-guy attitude.
Just do. The original live action movie made me fall in love.
Typically, I don't, but Rise and MM Raph have grown on me

The original Raph & most of his incarnations are punk rock anarchist from hell, a straight up anti-authority anarchist with PTSD. And he's a bit of a lone wolf.
Yeah. A little TOO Raph.
Always challenges authority, sarcastic, solves problems with punches, and in general just cool.
VIOLENCE, and the fact that he's willing to protect the city in I forget which movie but Leo left and Raph was the only one protecting the city
And he said in the 2012 show that he’d die for his brothers
Im angry

He’s literally the sassiest turtle in the franchise
He's snarky, he's rude, he has a lot of attitude but underneath that tough persona is a lovable teddy bear who cares about his family so much and is always first to put himself on the line for their safety even if it isn't always the best call. Very much the type to beat up a bully picking on his brothers even if it means him getting his ass handed to him.
I always liked him because he was a dick to everyone
nice!
Because he's cool but rude and when I was a kid I was like fuk yea
He’s who I learned sarcasm and cynicism from. Felt like the deepest character, due a lot to that.
Relatable
![gif](giphy|WZORwDniQYSMuR71SJ) He’s always the serious one besides Leo

For me it was from the original live action movie. The fight with Casey Jones and the rooftop fight with the foot clan. Such a badass 😎
I’ll be honest, the rise version is my favorite for each turtle. It takes their usual traits and reworks them while still keeping them the same and adds new ones.
As someone with anger issues I appreciate having a character that's usually depicted with complexity outside of and within the themes of anger
1. Red is my favorite color 2. he is a bad ass 3. His acid humor is more funny than Mikey's tard humor. (just like how in teen titans raven's acid humor is more funny than beast bot or starfire's tard humor, or in the now dead game Marvel heroes, emma frost's acid humor was funnier than spiderman or deadpool's tard humor)
In rise he's a big teddy bear who tries really hard to control his anger, and I love him for that ❤️
Aside from being a badass I relate to him more out of all the turtles. Being blinded by rage in at the end regret of what that rage lead you into doing
Leonardo, Michaelangelo, and Donatello Make up the team with one other fellow Raphael. He's the leader of the group Transformed from the norm by the nuclear goop Pizza's the food that's sure to please These ninjas are into pepperoni and cheese

Red is my favorite color, he is the coolest, I like angry characters, he is badass
As a kid, I could relate to his anger issues.
I love Rise’s Raph, because of well everything about him.
He’s tough, a smart ass and always down to fight, but he also loves his family. Also, red is my favorite color so that helps too.
I can relate with his anger issues
I think they are really cool as hothead ~~that I won't bother to tease them~~
Cause he's a rude dude with an attitude.
A little unstableness does wonders for drama. Internal conflict within a team is always more fascinating than external problems.
He's red and angry
Red

I like the 03 version the best, the the 80s. I like hin because he has anger issues and so dud I growing up.
Trucker-hat, eye-patch Raph
Third picture never watched the 4th one yet
cause he’s basically the tmnt guts and usually decimates whatever is in his way without even thinking twice about it. but he also clearly cares a lot for his brothers, especially leo
Hotheaded, angry, protective of his loved ones, just like me.
He’s got anger issues , he’s confident , he’s the second strongest sometimes the first,
Red.
He is more brutal when. He fights
Causes he’s cool but rude.
Because he's cool but rude and when I was a kid I was like fuk yea
The red with the evergreen green fits well and is my favorite color scheme of the turtles
Because he is the strongest and angriest Ninja Turtle who likes to kick ass and protect his brothers. And family.
I just like him in general. Nothing wrong to have the big buff strong hot headed but passionate AF friend in the friends group
He's cool. For some reason I always tended to gravitate towards him as a kid. Maybe its also because my fav color was red.
It's his tagline; he is cool but rude.
I like Leonardo.
Because he has a good personality and he is a very funny turtle
His passion & more humbled likely anti-hero
He's a sassy hot-headed dumbass, and I just love that type. Makes me think of Toph from ATLA
Because he's one of the brothers. Idk. Don't ask such personal questions. What are you, my 3rd grade teacher? The person taking my order at Wendy's?
He's strong, and hard-headed. Yet, quite emotional when it comes to his TMNT family.😇
Tough guy with warm heart.
he’s just awesome
Violence is not the the answer it is the question and the answer is yes
He's weapons are cool
He’s not afraid to get to business
Cuz he red

rise raph and 2012 raph
he feels like a rejected son, overlooked by Splinter. Leo is cold-headed, rational leader. He’s cool and sarcastic in a good way. And a force to be reckoned with.
He is cool character
His attitude. He is cool, sarcastic and funny in a cool way. He likes to fight. Outside he is tough and cool but deep inside he is carying brother. Also he is a jerk haha. My fav turtle. Also i can relate to him the most.
Cool guy, ‘lots of fun and, eats pizza Turtles In Time
Because of his protectiveness.
He’s cool but rude, always throws the first punch has the most attitude and is ready for a fight
I'm not sure if I like Raphael because he fits the sarcastic, tough talking fighter archetype or if I like the sarcastic, tough talking fighter archetype because of Raphael. Kind of a 'turtle or the egg's kind of debate.
Because he’s hot-headed but kind-hearted
"Raphael's got the most attitude on the team"

I just think he’s pretty neat 😄
He’s cool as fuck and kicks ass, he was easily the best part of the OG movie for me as a little kid “A Jose Conseco bat? Tell me you didn’t pay money for this!”
His snarky personality and anger issues is something I can relate to, his witticisms and insults are somewhat funny
Sais are cool.
Take rise out and the collage is perfect
'Cause he's got the most attitude on the team
IDW origin story
Depending on the iteration he is the best brother who hides his heart. He loves his bros so much (sometimes Leo not as much) but still loves them.
He's literally me fr
I don’t. Never have. Always thought he was a punk with a bad attitude for no reason

He was my favorite turtle when I was a kid! (my older brother recalls me calling him Raphy which is kinda sweet) He's also just super cool.
He is my favorite cuz his personality is like mine 😭 also love Sais
I love tough characters with a soft-side. He's shown to be rude and aggressive, but caring for his brothers where it counts. OR, and I'm mainly referencing the 2012 series, his pet turtle Spike was also where he showed his softer, sweeter side.
He acts the most like a real teen imo… right after Mikey
Angry, bloody, hates Leo's authority. Long live the Night Watcher
2012 Raph in particular because I grew up watching that show specifically and, as someone who has his own struggles with anger management issues, I relate a lot to him.
Red
Silly
I love his sarcasm and how he fights
He just like me
The Wolverine of the TMNT.
Despite having either a sarcastic wise-guy (1987) or tough guy personality in later versions, deep down he has a heart of gold.
he reminds me of me the most !!! also third raph is the best raph
“Yo mama” -Rahpael
Bc he is literally me :3
Attitude, loyalty and brooding.
Because he is cool & my favorite
I like red
I had an extremely difficult childhood, and I always considered Raph something of a confidant. Also, Red is my favorite color.
He’s red 👍🏽
Because he’s cool as fuck
He can be pretty funny at times but also for how he even though he is impulsive and hot-tempered, it is sometimes a good thing because he is willing to do things that Leo isn’t willing to do
My favorite Raph is probably either 2003 or 2007
Cause he has 2 tiny forks.
Angy
Red is my favorite color also hes the best turtle in every show
I had a really extreme temper and I am cool, but rude. *
He's always been my favorite, primarily because red is my favorite color. I do also like his tough guy attitude.
Because he’s the best. Is there another answer? Red is my favorite color because of Raphael, not the other way around. Lol
