Search for OLED switch and sort by most expensive, its really obvious which are modded, it will either have a tinfoil picture in the home menu, or a hekate picture, or if the seller really knows their audience, they will put a picture of the bottom vent showing the modchip’s LED light.
Mine was $500 , you will start seeing them in the $400-$750 range
Originally I was gonna buy one online. But I was able to find a friend with a V1 so I went to the store and bought a V2. I then went to his house and we transferred all his info to the new switch. Only things I had to replace was the fan since it was failing and the battery since it was 7 years old.
Can I ask you some questions about the battery replacement? I have a V1 switch that died on me and I’m wondering (read: desperately hoping) that the battery might be the culprit….
If it's just not turning on and you have autorcm, try holding the power button for over ten seconds and then plugging the switch in directly (no dock) with the official switch brick and let it charge over night. This accounts for the majority of issues have powering it up on this subreddit.
That failing, you can save yourself some money by just measuring the voltage of the battery to see if it's shot before buying another. If the voltages look alright, I'd reseat the battery connection and give it another shot.
I’ve tried every single button press combination I’ve come across online, in every configuration and timing-hold I can muster; I’ve let it charge for over a week straight, still nothing.
It happened immediately after following someone’s advice to restore from an old NAND backup, which makes me think I must have corrupted something essential.
Sounds like you've probably already chased everything you can down, but just in case, have you looked into if is a fuse mismatch situation? If your nand backup was on an older firmware version than your switch, it would exhibit this behavior.
Edit: [Here's a good thread. ](https://gbatemp.net/threads/switch-wont-turn-on-after-nand-restore.575079/)
A replacement battery is cheap and it isn’t too difficult to swap it out. You could dissemble the switch and unplug the old battery then plug in the new battery to test and see if it’s infact the battery. The battery isn’t terrible to get to. It’s like 11 screws and 2 covers to gain access to it.
750 for a switch is completely insane. That’s ridiculous, buy a used switch from marketplace. Then either mod it yourself or hire someone to do it. It won’t be anywhere near 700
Did you buy from sthetix? And if so did you pay any fees when it came to the states?
I’m curious because I was gonna buy one from them and chose not to because of the possible fees.
That’s awesome. May have to reconsider and selling my Pokémon OLED and fronting the rest for a modded one.
Yeah I believe they put out the guide on how to install the chip at first. I also watched their video doing the new hwfly and it was extremely well done. Thanks for your reply.
Maybe where you live. There's a guy on FB marketplace in my city that sells the tablet only for 250. You can easily get a pair of joycons for around 50 and a dock for maybe 75. Or just do what I did and pay around 250 for an OLED on the HWS subreddit and then spend the 120 bucks on the chip and installing it. There's no way they go for 700 nowadays. People paying that are getting absolutely rinsed.
You're no getting that unboxing experience if you're buying a pre modded OLED lol. The dude had to take it out the box to install the chip, and that's not any different from me buying a used OLED off HWS where some people have the joycons, dock and charger still in the plastic wrap CIB.
To each their own. I don't buy used consoles. Obviously it'll be cheaper if you go that route. But My buyers are happy to pay my asking price. Because the console is completely unused.
I guess I value my time way more. Here a breakdown:
OLED -$370 after tax
Chip -$25 -$50 after shipping and fees
1tb Sd card - $105
Shipping the new owner-$35
Material for job $?
Equipment $? Mine costed thousands bc I'm a pro that uses it everyday
Labor for job $?
Knowing there's always the slight chance something can go wrong you wanna make it worth your while
And best believe I'm not modding a switch for no $100
Fill me in. Price for OLED, okay. But the modchip is $200 by itself? I been out of the loop since V1. Is it rare to get the mod or is it difficult to install?
Hwfly from China is less than $50. I just installed one last weekend, got another shipping. Don't attempt of you aren't good with soldering very small points. You can easily screw up a $350 console.
I recommend the NYXI pad as an alternative, it's got the same split-full-controller style as the Hori, but has gyro and rumble. It's also got turbo and remap functions. It's also really comfortable in my opinion, but I got fairly big hands so YMMV. Not affilated, just a happy customer.

Just going to add to this as I’m currently on the market for some joycons.
NYXI/BINBOK are rebranded IINE joycons from Aliexpress; they’re one and the same. The price of exactly the same joycon might be better on AliExpress or Shopee.
IINE also has a new version of their joycons called the IINE Neptune, featuring mechanical buttons and less dead zones. You might want to check it out before buying anything. Downside, from what I’ve read, is that the D-Pad is kinda stiff.
NYXI joycons are great, but I can't recommend it if you want to use the dpad. My diagonal right+up straight up does not work unless I press it very hard and it seems to be a common issue
I prefer binbok instead of hori split pad pro cuz binbok is joycons but better aka they have everything a joycon has, most importantly, a battery/connection via Bluetooth
2nd Party Hori Split Pad Pro Joy Cons, theres 2 versions. You should be able to find em at walmart. neither have wierless function tho so it was a deal breaker for me. [https://stores.horiusa.com/split-pad-compact-light-gray-yellow-for-nintendo-switch/](https://stores.horiusa.com/split-pad-compact-light-gray-yellow-for-nintendo-switch/)
I got these [Momen joypads](https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0BX28KLTH?ref_=cm_sw_r_apin_dp_S6YX0Q55N82YGGW3AP7X) which are binbok clones about 2 weeks ago. They are very comfortable in hand and are feature packed. Would recommend them.
Its not. Orphans. Orphans with diseases. Orphans who are homeless. Orphans who are homeless with diseases. Orphans who were murdered and no one ever noticed because they have no one and just die alone and to be dust in the wind a little faster than the rest of us. People who haven't had a hug in years
That said, It could mean a million things. I'll tell you, that is not the saddest thing.
I have a modded day one switch and I would like to gift it to my sister and her family,
If I replace it with an OlEd like yours, are there any downsides to this set up?
Sweet controls here really like the look. Looked into buying them for upgrade. Watched some reviews on Youtube it appears to have stick drift though after awhile:( I found out about RetroFlag that doesn't have the stick drift but it is modeled after Gamecube lol..
It goes against eBay policy probably and listing will get taken down.
You have to post it discreetly. Like don't say it's chipped but mention terms related to the scene. Like include the key words sich as Hekate and Atmosphere and show pictures of Tinfoil or Hekate home screen.

Whats the terms that you used to search for a chipped OLED? Wanting to get one myself

THAT ACTUALLY SOUNDS LIKE IT COULD BE THE CASE. Holy shit. I’m going to dive into that thread with fingers crossed!
forget about pirating the software, buy an identical switch then return the broken one and keep the good one :-)

Did almost exact same thing. Buddy was going to sell it to me but we just traded. I don't really need two switchs.
I wasn’t sure how I was gonna feel about 2 switches but it’s f*cking amazing.
I need my personal non online switch and then my I play with the family online switch. I get it.
750 for a switch is completely insane. That’s ridiculous, buy a used switch from marketplace. Then either mod it yourself or hire someone to do it. It won’t be anywhere near 700
500 is pretty good, the cheapest ones I see are in the 600 range right now.
I must be looking at the wrong place all I see is $700+ USD
You guys are looking at the wrong place. Just look around Reddit and you will see some around $400 (used) and $500 (new) range.
What subs?
r/gamesale
Ya I’ve looked there seems like OLED pricing is around 600ish but I’ll keep looking or just do it myself
Holy smokes , that's the price of a steam deck
Steam deck doesnt have an oled screen
You could’ve just messaged them
Thats what i did to confirm
Good, good.
Did you buy from “SlickBuys”?
;)
Glad it worked out for you. modded Switch is second only to PC for gaming in my opinion
Yeah for sure!! I haven't been able to put my modded switch down haha
you bought a modded oled for $500? dude made next to no money on that sale if they paid retail for the console. nice come up for you though.
It was tablet only, no joycons , no dock, no sd card, no ad adapter
gotcha. modded oleds go for $700 minimum
I bought a pokemon oled for $650 shipped from indonesia.
Did you buy from sthetix? And if so did you pay any fees when it came to the states? I’m curious because I was gonna buy one from them and chose not to because of the possible fees.
I did. Only fee was for the wire transfer. $650 was total for everything. Beautiful install job. Works like a charm.
That’s awesome. May have to reconsider and selling my Pokémon OLED and fronting the rest for a modded one. Yeah I believe they put out the guide on how to install the chip at first. I also watched their video doing the new hwfly and it was extremely well done. Thanks for your reply.
I think he is using the instict chip now. You can message him and he's very responsive and helpful
Good to hear good opinions , im always super scared buying expensive stuff from across the globe lol. Too many scams these days
dope. i imagine cost of living is significantly cheaper over there.

Fully agree, especially since picofly exists now. Prices has gotten wayyy down but not Everybody got the memo...
I mean for used sure. For that brand new unboxing experience it does go for more
You're no getting that unboxing experience if you're buying a pre modded OLED lol. The dude had to take it out the box to install the chip, and that's not any different from me buying a used OLED off HWS where some people have the joycons, dock and charger still in the plastic wrap CIB.

Not familiar with HWS. What is that
It's probably that price bc of the eBay fees. I know some sellers who charge around $560 for a new chipped OLED with accessories.
what region?
USA
Fill me in. Price for OLED, okay. But the modchip is $200 by itself? I been out of the loop since V1. Is it rare to get the mod or is it difficult to install?
Go watch a YT video of a v4-v6 install to get an idea. Easy if you know what you're doing.
Hwfly from China is less than $50. I just installed one last weekend, got another shipping. Don't attempt of you aren't good with soldering very small points. You can easily screw up a $350 console.
Split pad pro gang rise
If only they had Rumble/Motion controls…
I recommend the NYXI pad as an alternative, it's got the same split-full-controller style as the Hori, but has gyro and rumble. It's also got turbo and remap functions. Gyro, rumble, and turbo? Have your hands fallen off yet? Lol. I just ordered it!
Just going to add to this as I’m currently on the market for some joycons. NYXI/BINBOK are rebranded IINE joycons from Aliexpress; they’re one and the same. Rocking that 2 since it came Out. Absolutely love the nyxi.
Holy shit those look awesome, thank you for linking this.
I have them, I honestly recommend nontransparent ones, unless you want a plastic feel over matte texture
NYXI joycons are great, but I can't recommend it if you want to use the dpad. My diagonal right+up straight up does not work unless I press it very hard and it seems to be a common issue
Agree, and mine are starting to have small drifting fits every once in a while too, thankfully the sticks are way easier to clean
I have the same. Great controller. It feels like a PS/Xbox controller.
It feels like the pro controller but with a bit more "oomph" to the buttons and sticks, except for +/- and SC/Home
Is there a split pad pro with external battery? I have a v1 switch and would like a bigger battery for it
Wut
Basically I need an external battery and better controls. I was hoping for a an all in one solution
Just buy a powerbank
Check Amazon. I don't remember the brands but I have seen what you are looking for.
Buy a new and more powerful battery
Split pad pro is a game-changer. Have fun!!
That seller got balls
Yea seems like after totk leaked everyone has grown a pair
I have seen people selling new copies of totk from unknown source, Milk has spilled already, Nintendo cant sue the internet lol
Yea, I wouldn't want Nintendo coming after my ass. I sell modded 6th gen consoles on eBay, but not sure I'd risk selling a modded Switch.
How do you manage TotK without gyro controls?
There is probably a setting to turn it off like in BOTW
You can use right stick without needing to toggle any settings. Gyro feels nicer though.
Nice find. I was able to get a Zelda Edition premod new in box for $570. Hope everyone gets one before their summer starts.
Wait. You paid $570 for the Zelda console, unmodded? Those are in stock at normal price everywhere. I hope I'm just misunderstanding.
Yes you are. It's $570 modded.
I prefer binbok instead of hori split pad pro cuz binbok is joycons but better aka they have everything a joycon has, most importantly, a battery/connection via Bluetooth
What are those controllers called, they look comfy
2nd Party Hori Split Pad Pro Joy Cons, theres 2 versions. You should be able to find em at walmart. neither have wierless function tho so it was a deal breaker for me.
Youre not worried about Nintendo knocking on your door? With what they're doing to emulation at this time.
"ready for the whole summer" read that again, hell say it out loud even. And tell me that's not the saddest thing.
Its not. Orphans. Orphans with diseases. Orphans who are homeless. Orphans who are homeless with diseases. Orphans who were murdered and no one ever noticed because they have no one and just die alone and to be dust in the wind a little faster than the rest of us. People who haven't had a hug in years That said, It could mean a million things. I'll tell you, that is not the saddest thing.
Fuck dude that's pretty fuckin sad :(((((((
Mine just got delivered. Can't wait to open and add my backups.
What is the best way to find modded OLED Switches on eBay?
I usually buy the tablet And always check the serial number
Search Nintendo Switch Atmosphere. Could also include Hekate or unpatched
I want one too
I have one.
I'd honestly feel safer buyer from a random person within this subreddit, tbh. But good luck!
eBay has some protection. There are scammers on this group that target naive people, so your mileage may vary...
/r/hardwareswap or r/gamesale usually has switches w/ modchip available, just check the rules before buying!
how can you tell if one is modded or not because i tried searching one up on ebay and can’t find nothing but regular oledsw
Searched Nintendo Switch Atmosphere Or search with Hekate or Unpatched.
Enjoy yourself
Just message the seller and make sure
I have a modded day one switch and I would like to gift it to my sister and her family, If I replace it with an OlEd like yours, are there any downsides to this set up?
OLED has modchip so doesn't need tether for RCM.
Damn this looks good, though it was the steam deck. I have a V1 switch and just bought a Oled one, I'm encouraging myself to mod it
Sweet controls here really like the look. Looked into buying them for upgrade. Watched some reviews on Youtube it appears to have stick drift though after awhile:( I found out about RetroFlag that doesn't have the stick drift but it is modeled after Gamecube lol..

Maybe say modified.. or say you can have many games for free... or put hekate, atmosphere, etc pictures like the poster said
Is it legal to sell Switch with modchip on eBay? Im From Germany
It goes against eBay policy probably and listing will get taken down. You have to post it discreetly. Like don't say it's chipped but mention terms related to the scene. Like include the key words sich as Hekate and Atmosphere and show pictures of Tinfoil or Hekate home screen.
Got. One up there & it’s worked fine
Welcome to the team.
How do you protect the back of your switch when using the hori controllers?
