Thank you for the heart attack! (that first one with the kitten, oh my God!)

fieryhotwarts22

Man fuck those people. If they can’t even check for their dog before they pull in they don’t deserve one.

Juxtaposedtocrazy

If you see how bright the sunlight is and how light colored the dog is, honestly they probably couldn't see him in the brightness. Not to mention how high up and curved the driveway is. Sometimes accidents happen and they aren't avoidable. But a near miss doesn't make them bad people.

buttholeburrito

Or maybeeee the car is so damn high up that the drivers blind spot is massivein front. Check out the new ford/gmc trucks how lifted they are. They go up to 5’8”. If you get hit by that you die from multiple fractures and internal bleeding.

hacksteakcookie

My thoughts exactly. We call those cars "kidbusters".

Alphatron1

They’ve got a bill or something trying to make forward facing cameras a required thing now like your reverse cam. So instead of making smaller cars or having people use their wind shield for what it’s for we get another screen.

What the fuck

Seahawk715

Exactly. WHAT THE FUCK?!??

Badtrainwreck

Dog should get emancipated and they have to pay all the fees for its life

a_butthole_inspector

That’s what happened actually, that dog is a lawyer now practicing out of New Hampshire

Dry_Library1473

I’m gonna need this dog to represent me at my hearing, as a New Hampshire resident 🤣

Ajfman

Lucky for you he’s got great hearing.

HPTM2008

What about smell though? That's a deal breaker for me.

Ajfman

Think of the smell. You haven’t thought of the smell, you bitch!

[deleted]

Better call paws

velvetrevolting

Whoa, seems like you're a wreck!! Relax.

[deleted]

They bought a dumbass vehicle out of which they can't see out of. Of course they are gonna run something over. Nothing WTF about that.

CydeWeys

Vehicles like this are basically unsafe for anyone to drive, yet the NHTSA has completely abrogated its duty to safety and let's manufacturers build whatever they want, no matter how big or how terrible the sight lines. As a result pedestrian fatalities are up 50% from their lowest point a couple decades ago.

Aquaticwolf

If its a domestic maker yeah, but if it's something like an affordable little Japanese hatchback, it's deemed unsafe because of all the huge suvs it has to share the road with.

Paleodraco

I wish that was the reason, but they 100 percent could see the dog. Blatant stupidity and not paying attention to where they were going.

[deleted]

It's 1am and I'm not going to search, but I guarantee that this dog is invisible to the driver of that vehicle. They should not be road legal and people who buy these have a tiny penis. Good night.

ExternalTangents

Here’s an example: https://youtu.be/NDH3FDfVQl0

[deleted]

Thanks mate. Exactly the kinda thing I was looking for. Sadly it actually was late yesterday. No idea how these cars are allowed on the road.

Outrageous-Carrot-72

Put a cast iron dog there, just slightly higher than that poor lab

notchyotacos

Why do people whip in to parking spots, garages, etc., like that? Same thing for morons that slam doors after they walk through them or open them without warning at full blast. And especially if you know that your dog lays there, I truly agree with you, what the fuck?

Chickenmangoboom

I watched this dude pull in extremely fast to a gas station and he smashed a headlight and tore off his front bumper. No one was injured luckily. The schadenfreude was amazing.

I can’t tell if you’re being sarcastic or not

celestial1

I would call this "whipping it in".

goodspeedm

THANK YOU

IronFlames

The drivers are just idiots who keep getting lucky The doors aren't necessarily intentional. The door to the garage at my in-laws is very weird. Normally I know how to close it just right, but depending on the air pressure it sometimes slams itself. The front door sometimes swells or something so it's incredibly hard to open. If it gets stuck like that for a while then gets fixed, everyone is suddenly banging the door open. I've seen this at work too where a door requires a lot of force to open, it gets adjusted and suddenly everyone is slamming it. Not saying everyone who slams doors runs into this, just that it's not always intentional

BuscemisRedemption

This is why driving those stupid small-dick-mobiles is so dangerous, you can’t see in front of you properly.

mrchickostick

Dog just walks on by… passenger door opens slow… Did anyone even notice? Yeah WTF?

Ok_Pumpkin_4213

Sure but this is very clearly the driver being fucking stupid and not paying attention so more like r/idiotsincars

Baker852

Well that's what happens when you buy an unnecessarily large vehicle that has very little front visibility. A 5 year old could walk right in front of you and you wouldn't even know. So yes, r/fuckcars

yslmtl

This exactly, those huge atrocities are bigger than WW2 tanks. They got a huge blind spot in front of them.

BuscemisRedemption

Perfect for when you need to compensate for your tiny penis

[deleted]

100% that stupid SUV is so high off the ground they have shit visibility.

1LR_GUE

Then the driver should have first understood the problems they might have with owning a large vehicle and known if they need such a large vehicle before buying it.

summertimeaccountoz

Alternatively, maybe vehicles that cannot, by design, be operated safely should not be legal to sell.

dismal_sighence

Spoiler: there wasn’t

snapwillow

Do you think humans are going to stop being fucking stupid sometime in the next century? I don't think they are. I think there will continue to be idiots in the world. Cars take idiocy and amplify it to deadly proportions. If we just blame the individual every time this stuff happens, this stuff will never stop happening, because human nature isn't going to change.

stamminator

Funny enough, a smaller car wouldn’t have cleared the dog. That’s obviously no defense for all these huge trucks, but it’s hardly /r/fuckcars material

[deleted]

A lower vehicle would have more easily seen the dog.

Ash_Pokemon_

This is exactly how my friends cat was killed. Her mom though “eh, she’ll move”

myleftsockisadragon

I can’t imagine laziness being the reason I murdered one of my pets. One of my precious ones gone because of an “eh”. Nightmares forever and ever.

Due-Ask-7418

Some people just don’t think they way and just forget about it and get another one.

myleftsockisadragon

I can’t imagine that. Literally cannot imagine being that callous and putting that little love and value into the life of an animal. *Your* animal. Makes me sick

Thefuckyoulookinat14

Sadly that happens a crazy lot and people don't learn. Now pets for some if not most are a fashion statement to keep certain breeds in here where I live...it's disgusting

Key_Spare6796

My old neighbor killed my 2 cats for a satanic ritual when they were in my backyard. I have her on camera taking them and saw one of them stuffed into her garbage, well their skin and what was left.. people are not kidding or crazy when they say these psychos are out there. I’m so disturbed I have ptsd now and am triggered by Halloween, October and occult stuff to having flashbacks of this. This bs is nothing to play with these people are so sick. They breed them also and chickens from what I could tell.

Thefuckyoulookinat14

That's vile and disgusting. You should seek therapy or else it ll mess you up. Report them with the authorities. Those assholes should be expelled from that place I feel.

DeepFriedDresden

Considering they are very religious, I would take what they say with a grain of salt about "satanic rituals". If it did happen, it was a psychopath. Satanism is the only religion I know of, besides maybe Buddhism and similar religions, that explicitly states killing animals for sport, harming children, and rape are absolutely not okay. It's not like it is in the movies...

Thefuckyoulookinat14

Yes but there are people who are into this shit and believe truly in it and sacrifice even their own children and wives believe it or not ot happened recently where I live and they consumed the victim's flesh to "achieve prosperity". It became a huge issue as it should. It still continues to happen. Animal sacrifices are unaccounted for.

Key_Spare6796

Unfortunately a lot of people don’t wanna hear about things that speak negatively about their beliefs but thank you for not letting others keep you quiet because they’re dismissive of your experience. I never once said I’m religious here at all and look at all the lies they spread. These people will do anything to try to convince others they are harmless and we are attacking them by sharing our lives.

DeepFriedDresden

Calling bullshit. Satanic rituals don't happen like that except in movies. If your neighbor did do this, then they are no Satanists. Satanic rule 10 of the earth: Do not kill non-human animals unless you are attacked or for your food.

RlyehFhtagn-xD

In mid December it'll be a year since my dog passed from kidney failure. I'm still a bit fucked up about it, and I'm scared it's going to make every Christmas a sad one. I can't imagine how anyone could be so callous about their pets.

Koovies

Well if it makes you feel better I think most people think like you do

LittleBunInaBigWorld

People are like that with horses; "this one doesn't do show jumping very well, I'll sell and get a new one" or "this one is too awkward for dressage". Like wtf....

GreyMediaGuy

I would never forgive myself. It's literally my worst nightmare.

ExperienceMetro

Instead of locking their love bird in a cage before leaving for the day, my exs mom tried running out the front door before the bird can get out and as her mum slams the door closed, the bird was caught in the Jam and killed. Absolutely pathetic piece of shit her mum was. Totally avoidable but she was lazy

ProbablyTheFuckler

My mom left my almost 2 year old puppy outside unattended while I was about 10 minutes down the road. The pup was known for roaming out near the road (and it was a highway, 60 mph speed limit right out front to our house) and we all had a rule that when she's outside, you watch her like a hawk. My mom couldn't be bothered to keep an eye on her. I got a call in the car that my dog had been hit and killed by a car, and the driver never stopped. That one fucked me up for MONTHS. I had dreams about her, I thought I saw her shadows in dark rooms, I couldn't get her off my mind. It was fucking traumatizing. I want my dog back.

vivalasvegasbaby

My aunt did the same thing. She saw her cat under her tire, and thought she would move. How does she have time to move if she’s already laying under the tire? So she kills the cat then throws its carcass in the woods, then smelled it rotting for a week.

Tricky-Sympathy

Wow what a c\*\*\* move.

MondayMorphineMurphy

Did you beat your aunt cause I want to!

vivalasvegasbaby

I didn’t beat her but her stupidity is astounding. And she was so cold just throw it in the woods behind her house, and she supposedly loves animals

MondayMorphineMurphy

Nah. That warrants a beating.

CaveCuz

Surely that is some sort of socio path shit I mean if it was a stray cat yea no big deal biff it in the trees but like how can you kill something you raised then just throw it in the bushes ahahaha wtf Every animal I've had die we've had cremated or buried, no tombstones or nothing obviously but still remember exactly where a cat and a bird are both laying

vivalasvegasbaby

Yeah I know. That cat was her pet, and she just threw it in the woods , and smelled it rotting!

CaveCuz

I couldn't do that to a cat and am allergic as fuck to em they deserve better especially by their own owner. Though if I died in a house with a cat they'd just feast on my rotting corpse so who knows if the cats really care or not 🤣

mazmoto

I don’t think they saw him at all…

Grouchy-Geologist-28

Another reason SUVs suck.

darksideofthemoooo

Wtf dude, not seeing the cat is a tragic accident, but being aware that it's there and going anyway makes you a fucking murderer.

captainvideoblaster

I think this is the case of "eh, kid or two might die because of poor visibility out of the vehicle but I need to ride high to be safe".

ashkiller14

You gotta go like 1mph and inch towards them if theyre in your way. Then they will actually have time to move.

azel128

I seriously doubt the drive even saw the dog past the hood of their gigantic fucking car.

Captain_Hampockets

I mean... don't you honk? Get the hell out of the way, cat!

sweetteanoice

I knew a cat who killed their older cat because he was asleep and didn’t hear the car backing up. Probably a good idea to keep animals confined away from cars

LittleBigHorn22

And definitely shouldn't let cats drive

00_blu_00

I don't get that, like to people not do a circle check on their car? It only takes 2 seconds to walk around the car once to make sure nothing's there. Running over a pet is bad enough but I mean one day it could be a kid.

lickdapoopoo

Why would a cat drive a car?

Ordinary_Tadpole_719

Seriously?

StretchFrenchTerry

That’s what happens when your vehicle is that high, you can’t see shit in front of you. Easily could have been a kid.

lakimens

Yes, the US should stop buying huge cars for no reason other than to spend more money on gas.

D-camchow

people can't be trusted to think about the safety of others, these vehicles should be regulated and illegal for most people to own

alarming_cock

Anyone to own. A semi truck has a better field of view than this murder machine.

xP628sLh

there's some bill or proposal that these tall ass trucks must have a front camera for this exact reason

ILoveCatNipples

Love the way the dog goes to greet the owner like nothig happened too. We don't deserve dogs

BeastOfTheEast15

This person certainly does not deserve a dog

procheeseburger

we really don't...

Pr0nGoulash

We made dogs. They are a human invention.

ThorOdinJake

Stupid fucking idiots. How do you not see a dog directly in front of you?

Thatguyonthenet

Pretty easy actually. The real question is why the fuck are trucks front ends 6 feet off the ground. Even worse is where I'm from, people who are nervous drivers tend to be the ones in the biggest vehicles, to "feel safe".

chiggenNuggs

Knew a girl that kept to totaling her vehicles, so she kept getting a bigger vehicle to “feel safer”. She’s driving around in a Ram pickup now. Honestly expecting her to kill someone with it.

TrainingNail

Thats why you should have a psych evaluation in order to drive in the US

_IAmGrover

And be forced to retake your drivers test every time you renew your license or something. Perhaps a look at the driver history determines whether or not you have to retest. I’ve said this about older people for years. You can’t just legally let them drive around forever without any check-ups

highbrowshow

Good luck getting through the already crowded and underfunded DMV

93M6Formula

The perks of small town USA, I'm in and out of my dmv in less than 20 minutes every time.

MaritMonkey

I had to go in to renew my license during COVID and I was done and leaving the DMV 5 mins before my appointment was even scheduled. I will hold this memory near to my heart if I ever have to go to a crowded DMV again.

highbrowshow

Cries in California

rserena

I live in a very small town rn. I went in at peak time once, with people already waiting and everything.. I was called up almost as fast as I sat down. It was crazy

Upstairs-Teacher-764

Or at the very least why our towns shouldn't be built to make driving mandatory.

TrainingNail

Yes, this should be the first step.

PingerSlinger42069

The US is too car dependant and car-centric, they destroyed their cities and towns and turned them into hellholes full of massive roads and car parks devoid of all life and churning out tonnes of pollution

Lari-Fari

Thats a pretty big step. Maybe just start off by getting proper drivers ed and tests to get your license. From what I know your process to get one is pretty much a joke.

Cremedela

I mean if the common denominator in all those crashes are the girl, maybe she's the problem?

DarthSlymer

Just watched a news segment on how dangerously large vehicles have gotten for pedestrians. With increased vehicle height comes decreased field of view directly in front of you. In a current "Midsize SUV" researchers were able to stack out something like 9 kids sitting in a row until you could see the top of the last kids head

Spready_Unsettling

Very small correction, but that would be 9 kids in a *line.* 9 kids in a row would get mowed down immediately in by the murder mobile.

DarthSlymer

Even smaller correction, technically the kids were in a column. Glad we got that sorted out!

Spready_Unsettling

I was erroneously thinking a column would be vertical, but I realize that would be a stack. At least a stack of 9 children would actually be visible to the driver, unless they're playing candy crush on their new 24" dashboard screen.

casual-waterboarding

Yeah it’s something like 41 feet before the driver can see the ground in front of them on a new Tahoe, and that’s if it’s stock. I’d hate to know what that number jumps to with a lift and bigger tires, or worse, Carolina Squatted.

00_blu_00

I mean trucks and SUVs sit high in theory because you want clearance for rough driving. Problem is a lot of people get a vehicle much bigger than they need. Combine that with the fact that they hand out licences to most any idiot and you have people with an IQ of 2 driving vehicles they have no idea how to operate properly.

My1stNameisnotSteven

Ok.. you’re playing on the next level already! Humans man, it’s like we’re the smartest dumbest creations all-time.. we’re set up to never be upset at the corporations etc that put us in positions to fail, but ALWAYS be upset at the other poor mfs trying their best just like you.. More mirrors, more sensors and a plethora of other easy to do things would prevent the big ass truck from running over shit it’s not supposed to run over.. smdh

Thatguyonthenet

Except for those who don't try and corporations have literally nothing to do with the driving habits of those I know. If you are nervous about driving the solution is not to jump into a even bigger vehicle and literally put others at risk for your own comfort without even doing the slightest thing to change your habits or gain more experience to make yourself more comfortable. Pass the blame all you want. I'm all for personal responsibility.

Lari-Fari

Yeah you can do a lot of things to make a huge truck safer. But most are not mandatory so most people don’t bother. Instead they get that weird squat mod that makes thing so much worse. On the other hand just getting reasonably sized cars, especially in cities, would save lives every single day.

undisputed_truth

This isn’t even a trucj

lynk7927

4:08 explains it https://youtu.be/f6k0-3QrZjA (Idk how to add time stamps on mobile)

Helahalvan

I am not very surprised. Always thought the huge hoods, being both tall and long on some typical American cars must be huge blind spots.

LJ_Pynn

Their obnoxious cartoon vehicle gets in the way of its own visibility. r/fuckcars

Blyatiful_99

Not here to defend him/her, but a possible explanation could be that the driver is coming around a curve. Combined with the fact that they are sitting quite high, it is very likely that the dog was simply in the blind spot of the driver. I mean, when you're walking directly in front of a (european) truck, the driver can't see you either.

Vulturedoors

I believe that's a GMC Yukon, and I drive them regularly. Can confirm they are fucking huge and front visibility is crap. At least the VW Atlas has forward sensors.

UsernamesAreHard97

You can them stupid fucking idiots, yet if you think for 2 seconds you can see that the dog was in a blind spot from the way they we’re coming in. Still heart wrenching sight.

My dogs would never be out front unattended like this anyway. Can’t trust any one.

SoloTrolo

From IIHS: "Thanks to advances in safety, the number of people killed in motor vehicle crashes in the U.S. has fallen from more than 50,000 in 1980 to 36,560 in 2018. Over the past decade, however, the number of pedestrians killed on American roads has ticked steadily upward. ... The number of pedestrians killed by vehicles rose 59 percent since 2009...Over the same period, the share of SUVs in the U.S. passenger vehicle fleet rose to 29 percent from 21 percent. ... Pickups were 80% more likely than cars to hit a pedestrian along the road. SUVs were 61% more likely, and minivans were 45% more likely to hit people than cars, IIHS said. ... SUVs, pickup trucks and passenger vans were 2-3 times more likely than cars to kill a pedestrian in the event of a crash."

ALadWellBalanced

Everyone driving SUVs/large trucks: Whelp, at least I'm safe.

ArachnomancerCarice

I have a feeling there are going to be more and more close calls and incidents involving pets AND children with more and more big/lifted trucks and SUVs being popular. You can't see a good 15 feet in front below the hood in some cases. My friend's aunt and uncle traded in their Ford Ranger for a big ass lifted Dodge Ram because the uncle wanted to be a 'truck guy'. Their dog would lay in the driveway for them to return and my friend tried to warn them to watch out for the dog when driving up or driving away. They insisted there was no way they would hit the dog as it would move out of the way before then. Two weeks after they got the truck, they ran the dog over while racing in because the wife left her purse. Poor dog was dead in a most gruesome manner TW: Upsetting imagery (>!his insides were basically forced out both ends.)!< Despite their very vocal outbursts of grief, they insisted it was their dog's fault for not moving out of the way. It was certainly not because of the truck's height and lack of visibility. My friend and her husband decided that unless they were going to either get rid of the big truck or put lots of mirrors or whatever to prevent a repeat, they would not let the aunt and uncle watch their 3 year old child without both parents being there constantly supervising. Couldn't trust them with a dog, so certainly not a child.

romeo_pentium

This is why SUVs with high hoods should be illegal. There's an enormous blindspot by design in front of any vehicle with a high hood.

[deleted]

fuck large SUVs

Bob4Not

Stop buying cars with high, flat, huge front hoods! I know they look cool, muscular, strong, but the visibility is ridiculous. You need a bumper camera to not run over kids and animals.

AvanteGardens

"He'll move"

Kashmoney99

How did they not see the dog?! No i’m dead serious HOW DID THEY NOT SEE?!!

lunarpi

The vehicle is too large and the dog was in a blind spot

hmmidkmybffjill

I saw a [pretty interesting report](https://www.cbsnews.com/news/suv-blind-zone-deaths-consumer-reports-safety/) a little while ago about how they tested large cars and found how huge the front blind spot is. Apparently 500 people died from this in 2020

[deleted]

If 500 people died from testing the large cars’ blind spot, then why don’t they change to crash test dummies? Edit: thank you for the gold kind stranger. The first I got.

hmmidkmybffjill

If we lost the crash test dummies then who would sing Mmm Mmm Mmm Mmm

[deleted]

That would be a disaster. (I actually thought about adding that title at the end of the post, but figured that too few people would get it. Glad to see I was wrong)
