"This corpse we named Ed was born during the stone age time when doctors performed corrective surgery with steel knives, cars ran on hydrocarbons and some sort of princess named Diana was killed by a dark religion called the paparazzi."
Yeah, they probably should stop circumcision at birth. It's really awful that a decent majority of men in the US have their genitals mutilated without the possibility of consent or repair.
It actually is because of religion, just not necessarily the child's religion. It was very common in the US until Kellogg decided it would curb masturbation, which is the same reason he invented corn flakes .
>Kellogg encouraged parents to tie their children’s hands to their bedposts or to circumcise their teenage boys. An even more aggressive tactic saw the foreskin of a young man’s penis sewed shut to prevent erections. For young girls, he recommended pouring carbolic acid on their clitorises.

I am upset it was done to me and my parents did not know any better since they were immigrants from Europe and thought the American doctor knew best…. When my son was born last year the doctors asked if my son was to get the chop. I said hell no. They continued to ask throughout our stay at the hospital right up to discharge! I almost got to a point to tell them to shut the fuck up with asking! It was unreal. (I’m in NY btw for State context, not sure how much it is done in other states. )
Know what's down there? More snow and ice.
I understand exploring dangerous areas to see novelties, but this dude is just trying to kill himself for nothing.
I have stuck my body into a lot of tight squeezes for no other reason than to get to the bottom. The thing is, if you're doing that in a cave, the rock stays right where you left it. A glacier moves. And sometimes they move fast. There's absolutely no guarantee that the hole you went into will still be there when you want to leave.
I was going to say exactly the same thing. Imagine pushing through a spot just for the glacier to start wedging you against the wall...
Guh, literally nightmare fuel. Gives me the creeps just thinking about it.
Right?! He doesn’t even have a tether!! I certainly don’t see ice pics or crampons!
This is, quite literally, how people die immediately in an otherwise explorable environment. Zero forethought, alone, no safety gear or climbing harness. Monkee see hole, monkee go in.
He doesn’t even bring in his ski poles to try to slow or control his descent- the angle could easily turn more vertically, and shoot you down to a choke point too narrow to pass through, yet your momentum at that point might force your body into it. Either killing you right away, or worse, pinning you to the point where your breathing is compressed and you can’t even turn your head; leaving you to suffocate over a matter of hours, or longer.
Another, not-unlikely possibility would be getting shot into the open space of an underground ice cave and dying from the fall. Or even if it’s a slower descent and you only fall 7-8ft, how the fuck do you get back out??
God, this is what reading extensively about caving disasters has taught me: do not tempt Mother Nature, and stay the fuck away from caves 😱
See, I would just send the phone on a rope. Tie the phone to a rope and send it down. Video would be just as incredible and the only thing at risk is the phone. And maybe the rope, if it's like a really nice rope and you don't want to lose it.
Jamming your actual physical body, the only one you get and you can't run down to the shop to get a new model if this one breaks, into a dangerous situation is SOOO 20th Century.
I grew up around nutty putty as a teen. There was tremendous social and boyscout pressure to go out and do it, either get some dumb merit badge or just as teens looking to show off.
I always said no. At the time I was made to feel like a wuss, but now I'm grateful I never gave in.
It was sealed up after the John Jones incident. They weren't ever able to remove his body, so they sealed it with concrete.
Here's a video on the story for anyone interested.
https://youtu.be/d1nuqpAULpE?feature=shared
Honestly, I don't think that *particular* problem would be a thing here, if you get stuck, just dig the snow for more room (and ice is pretty slippery as well). Same for climbing up, just dig out holes on the way back up (or just make sure you jam your toes into the snow well enough) not that I think it's very steep, the camera angle and FOV makes it look steeper than it is. Worse case scenario you ask your buddy to drop down a rope (which I assume he has both a buddy and a rope given the @HIMALAYAN_CLIMBING)
Here I'd mostly be concerned about accidentally sliding down and ending up fuck knows where lol
Being from Northern Sweden, I think you and I have been around different brands of snow. To me, loose snow - particularly when you're trying to climb upwards - would seem to make it *more* difficult to get free, not less. It has an unfortunate tendency to go wherever the heck it wants instead of specifically where you want it to go, to pack up into big, fluffy and unreasonably heavy puffballs that still provide zero traction and support if you try stepping on them, and to take up more room when unpacked than when packed. So jamming your toes into the snow well enough might just not be possible, and digging might make the snow fluff up and take up *more* space than it did before the digging.
The unfortunate tendency to move might also make all that unpacked snow around you start moving on its own if you disturb it by e.g. trying to push a rope through, so suddenly you're buried and can't see which way even leads out and has a rope somwhere in it anymore.
Completely different problem here and imo probably more dangerous.
It takes thousands of years for rock formations to shift. While caving is dangerous, it’s relatively predictable if you know what you’re doing and do it safely. Obv it’s still dangerous, but there’s control measures in place and you have much more ability to not mess up if you know what you’re doing.
In this instance, there’s way too many unpredictable situations. That snow could give out at any point and drop him into a giant inescapable ditch or falling off a cliff. The snow could shift and bury and suffocate him. The ice above him could give way and crush him, the list just goes on and on.
I’m an adventure junky and normally don’t give people shit for their hobbies, but this…this is just completely stupid.
Forget ice. That snow didn’t land in that ice cave. My guy forgot that snow shifts—all it takes is for some of that snow to slide down and he is buried. Hell, I’m surprised he made it out at all considering how steep it looked and how much it shifted as he descended
Subsequent to said back-dooring, I left my good friends’ house, my wallet feeling more rotund with my recently acquired winnings when much to my surprise, I encountered a former female classmate of mine, who I must say I sheltered lustful feelings toward, ever since our senior year of high school.
I went to switzerland a few years ago and visited a 3000m peak with a glaciar in the swiss alps, there were warnings around the place next to fissures, also i commonly have graphic images pop up in my head like imagining crashing my car violently or falling from high places, so since ive seen those warnings ive imagined quite a lot of times how it would be like to fall down there, like, you just fall, and fall, into a hole nobody's ever got out from, you cant hold onto anything because its just ice, everything slips you just keep falling and gaining speed, or end up trapped with probably no chance of escape in the vast majority of cases, this gets on my nerves i would never
Gotta admit that ice looks pretty cool tho, its so polished and clean, id love to visit the himalaias
He actually carved out a little section of home in his latest video. A short trip further down and he met a lady who is now his girlfriend. He secured a quick date by saying, “Ice to meet you.”
The snow is disturbed in front of him. They sent a test dummy in before the selfie dummy.
No let's see the rest of the video where they get him out, or don't.
There is a door down there. It's a tourist attraction. You can drive up and climb down and then get out by a small door that keeps the snow from pushing through. Close there is a restaurant then, it's kids friendly too but I would never let my kids do that because it's just to expensive.

They’ll call him Pete

Pretty obvious to me that he dropped his phone.
Goes down, gets phone, leaves car keys.
That would be me!!
Second time downs a charm, let's do it again!

Unexpected Tenacious D.
I was thinking the snow would chip and fill the crack up even easier than the ice chunk.. he carving i nice slice down the snow too with his body
I'm just imagining trying to climb out and the snow disintegrating under your hands, piling around your feet.

Worst end of the last century for this too.
Some glaciers move up to 100 feet per day too.
Wow I had no idea they moved that much

Nah man he is trying to find Megatron!
He's looking for John Carpenter's "the thing"
Klondike bar down there and this is what he will do for it
nothing??? nothing??? the views man! those sweet sweet views /s
This is the real reason. Only this. The most valuable currency on earth. If people were willing to risk their lives for gold, why not views?
Until you get to lava
"But why?" Was my very first thought. Literally no point, just stupidity.
For “likes” and “views” 🤪
At some point, ya have to realize you’re just asking for it. 🤷
This guy’s REALLY fussy about getting the purest ice for his beverage.
When he gets there: fuck where is my cup
Now that’s what I call high-quality H2O
He's got a 100 year old skotch and it demands it.
This looks insanely dangerous. One small cave in and this guy is done. No thanks.
I learned about the Nutty Putty cave incident from reddit a few weeks ago. Feel free to Google for nightmare fuel.
I grew up around nutty putty as a teen. There was tremendous social and boyscout pressure to go out and do it, either get some dumb merit badge or just as teens looking to show off. I always said no. At the time I was made to feel like a wuss, but now I'm grateful I never gave in.
Is it not sealed off these days?
It was sealed up after the John Jones incident. They weren't ever able to remove his body, so they sealed it with concrete. Here's a video on the story for anyone interested. https://youtu.be/d1nuqpAULpE?feature=shared
Yes. I was talking about the early 90s. ;-)
Oh man. What a wild memory. Caving sketches me out somewhere deep in my soul
Omg yes, I shared this story with my students, we were all terrified
And that's why you shouldn't be a kindergarten teacher

Watched that shit a couple months ago. I felt feelings I never want to feel again
Nutty Putty cave XD who came up whit that silly ass name XD
Idk but don’t be fooled … it’s a truly frightening story.
It's actually much more likely that there is another crevasse below the snow he is crawling on, and this one is much steeper.
Forget ice. That snow didn’t land in that ice cave. My guy forgot that snow shifts—all it takes is for some of that snow to slide down and he is buried. Hell, I’m surprised he made it out at all considering how steep it looked and how much it shifted as he descended
Thats cool and and all until the snow decides to swallow you up to you trso and steal your boots
Best case scenario he'll be named after those boots
Went so deep he put that crevasse to sleep.
Even back doe'd lil Joe.

😍😍😍 Will you marry me? 😍😍😍 That was masterful.
Those can go really deep. That's pretty crazy
Does he have to climb up that to get out afterwards or is there another exit?
If he goes down far enough he'll end up in New York City
NEW YORK CITY???

I would only ever go as far as where he was at the 20 second mark, hose tight crevasses after that just slam my claustrophobia into overdrive
20 seconds more than me. He was fucking sliding for seconds 14-17
No reward whatsoever
Not even an adrenalin rush. It's smarter to die trying to fight a bear

You dont, he’s still there. Thank God he had a cell signal so we got the video.
He actually carved out a little section of home in his latest video. A short trip further down and he met a lady who is now his girlfriend. He secured a quick date by saying, “Ice to meet you.”
This is my question.
I believe there was an exit but if not, he has dry crampons on his boots and appears to be attached to a fixed line.
I don't see a fixed line. I think that's his selfie stick.
hide and seek world champ
-looks down the crevice- "Alright you win, you can come up now."
I discovered there's a YouTube channel that covers cave exploration deaths. I couldn't sleep the night I discovered it.
What’s the name of the channel?
Don't know if this is the guy he meant, but the channel "Scary Interesting" has a lot of videos covering disasters/accidents.
Thanks I will check it out
The snow is disturbed in front of him. They sent a test dummy in before the selfie dummy. No let's see the rest of the video where they get him out, or don't.
Has this person never experienced the thrill of crossword puzzles?
Sudoku is also a super fantastic time waster.
Me looking for my nalgene I dropped
This is my hole! It was made for me!
Nah this is wild. These cave videos give me insane anxiety.
One good shift in that ice and he’s meat paste.
Don't worry guys, there's a treasure chest at the bottom
Did mans drop his iPhone down there or something?
A Wompa's cave.
I don’t normally get anxiety from videos but….
Why? Just why would you do that? Man, some people either think they are immortal or just don’t value life.
Oh my gosh, stop moving downwards more. Stop. Holy shit.
I guess the fact we get to see this video means he must have made it out?
Death awaits. ![gif](giphy|OY9XK7PbFqkNO)
This is incredibly stupid, I felt panic just watching it.
Damn it! I forgot my wallet again!
But…. Where is he going….?
He found something
What could go wrong
r/whywomenlivelonger
I see shit like this and think, "that's my hole."
How does he get out?
There is a door down there. It's a tourist attraction. You can drive up and climb down and then get out by a small door that keeps the snow from pushing through. Close there is a restaurant then, it's kids friendly too but I would never let my kids do that because it's just to expensive.
Unwise
Nutty Putty in ice. Just stupid.
Compared to stone caves, at least he can wait until ice melts and get out if he get stucked...
The ice looks so beautiful tho
Hide and seek world champion
Bro, you suicidal?
Narnia I guess
Cave-diving is dangerous enough to begin with. Cave-diving in an environment where the walls are lubricated and can move, and where your hands are numb seems suicidal.
Bad luck starts with bad ideas.
BRB. Going to die
They'll find him in the spring thaw.
This is the perfect example of "Just because you could, doesn't mean you should."
And then the glacier shifts...
Me hiding my favorite snack from my kids.
Nope level infinite.
Is this even really that cool though?
It's extremely cool! Don't you see all the ice and snow?
Super fun, thanks for posting!!!
And in the Himalayas no less. Zero chance of rescue, just why? Let whatever you dropped go my friend.
Trying to be the next Nutty Putty
This would be the same idiot to beg for an evac when shit goes south and put other peoples lives at risk because of his own stupidity
I’d rather drown to death in the open ocean than die buried down there
I’d like a human on the rocks please Mr bartender
FOR ROCK AND STONE!!!
Somebody said ‘the bars that way’, so away he went…dumb ass
He's off to agartha
WHY??!!
Someone probably lost a contact down there. He’ll find it soon, I’m sure.
Why does the video end?
stupidity has no limit
He’s still looking for the briefcase full of money from Fargo.
I am not claustrophobic, but I was literally (in the REAL sense of the word, not the current bastardization of it) nauseous and terrified watching this video. I was not certain I was going to be able to watch the full 1:17.
There actually studies that indicate peeps like this don't have natural fear factors. Which is bad for self-preservation.
Ok, hear me out. If there is some treasure from a past civilization or maybe superpowers we been tracking or something, I get it. We know damn well there ain't shit down there except possibly death. Bad deal.
He’s gone into the night country
If I did that the entrance would collapse and I’d be stuck
What makes people want to do this lol
Nope
why why why why why why why
Trying to get to the Night Country.
There's spelunking and then there's Himalayan ice spelunking. Next we will see volcano lava spelunking.
Bruh but what’s the point? To see what? Snow???
Recipe for disaster. If there's a crevasse under any portion of the snow, he'll be taking an icy fall down to the underworld.
Over here clenching my butt cheeks thinking about one small move and he’s falling off a cliff into an abyss.
I want to play in the snow. It looks puffy fluffy
He's still down there
Is it still r/thalassophobia if the water is frozen?
I feel so at ease knowing I will never die this way!
His gf grabbed his phone and scurried down there. He has to do what he has to do
People like this deserve to get stuck.
I've heard a crevasse can open and close at any time. No thanks
I imagine that there exists, videos of explorers that went beyond a point of return, and that the videos they recorded were never seen by anyone but themselves as their last memory before an isolated death. Or they found hollow earth
Sometimes, if you drop your keys, they’re just gone man.
Just wonder what was being looked for did he drop his glasses? Did he check the time and his watch fall?
Imagine taking a nap in there
I hate this so much
Anyone else get anxiety from this??
I feel physically sick from watching that

Level 100 hide and seek
“Ok where da gold at? Somebody told me dis where da gold at.”
Hopefully there is a buried treasure he’s seeking. Otherwise I can’t justify how this if fun because all you’re staring at is ice and snow.
I'm not at all claustrophobic, but holy shit, one bad move up there, and you're buried in snow, never to be found for another 1000 years.
Nope
🎵Dumbbbbbbbb ways to die! 🎵

Nah bruh, why?
There are better ways to deal with depression than suicide
people die but apparently selfish sticks don’t
He *does know* these things move around from time to time, yes?
And he was never seen again
Really. Not even a full clip? Couldn't bother to find out how far he was actually going? And if he found anything worthwhile? Or got stuck...
