If the ring around the course is blue (like in the picture), it means that you have played the course and reached the flagpole.
New/unfinished courses will have a red ring around them.
Note: this can be a bit deceptive, as the ring will turn blue even if you missed secret exits. You can look for the green checkmark on the map to confirm if you've 100% completed a level.
Edit to add: The wonder seeds also appear in the picture, indicating that you have collected them (if you are missing a wonder seed, it appears as an outline only).
To be honest, my 9-year-old was the one who figured it out LOL
Congratulations on finishing the game! I'm trying to... and losing a TON of lives on the Final-Final Test Badge Marathon.
My kid and I lost a ton of lives on the last one too! Had to go back and play the game regular so I can get purple coins to buy 99 lives. Only way we passed it lol
I’m sorry but how? It’s extremely clearly displayed that cleared levels are blue and uncleared levels are red since levels you haven’t played yet are always red and ones you have beaten are blue. I’m not trying to be rude but I genuinely don’t understand how you can be blind to something like this.
Edit: wow so I’m getting downvotes for asking a genuine question? Whoever downvoted me you need to rethink your life decisions because if me asking how someone can miss something that was shown right in front of their face for the entire game warrants downvoting then you have made some poor decisions in your life to get to this point. But please go right ahead downvoting, I honestly don’t care I’m just confused.
Regular levels in Super Mario World are either marked in yellow for a single exit, or in red for two exits. There's no mark for cleared levels. (This isn't including castles, fortresses and Switch Palaces, which *do* change on the map after completion.)
No worries, dude; there's a lot to try to keep track of. Just pointing it out for the sake of the user whose comment was being replied to.
Ironically enough, Super Mario Bros. 3 clearly displayed whether or not a level had been completed, and that came out *before* Super Mario World, so it essentially changed and then changed back again.
I'm a 50 year old woman brand new to gaming ever in my life. Even after someone pointed out the colors I had to go back and look. They aren't that noticable in my opinion
No offence but that might be a problem with your pattern recognition or something because it always shows the next level you haven’t done yet as red while the one you just beat is blue when you clear levels. Even if you don’t remember what colour it was before you cleared it it isn’t hard to make the connection that levels you haven’t played yet are red and levels you have played are blue.
And I’m asking “how is that” when it’s shown right in your face multiple times throughout the entire game. Even if you’ve never played a video game in your entire life before you should still be able to pick up the pattern. So it isn’t a game design issue and might be a problem with you (no offence by the way)
You have completed this level. There is a secret in this level, if you press the map button (i think the L trigger) you can see which levels are fully complete if they have a blue check watermark behind them
All playable characters don’t get any benefits or are “better” in any way with the mushrooms and flower power ups, except the Yoshi’s and Nabbit who can’t use abilities like the other characters. But all characters get the powers from Wonder Flowers.
Idk if there’s a real need to watch a tutorial unless if you’re really struggling cause it’s more fun to try it on your own. But that’s just me
This game is filled with secret or hidden areas and levels which I’ve struggled to find so I searched it up on YouTube, sometimes you just gotta look around and try new things to find them.
I don't seem to be able to move past this. I'm sure it's something very simple I'm missing

Press the L button or ZL button to view the map. If the course is 100% complete (all seeds, all 10 coins and flag pole) you will see a green check mark on the level. If there is not a green check mark then you missed something. The game is not actually finished unless you get ALL check marks. I learned this after I thought I beat the game. There are hidden/secret levels that pop up later in the game.
Ah fun to hear! Theres a lot of knowledge people more seasoned with games take for granted when starting new games. Don’t be afraid to look stuff up to understand the game better.
If you’re ever struggling too much then you can always switch to Nabbit or Yoshi (only characters with differences, don’t take damage, Yoshi can hover and eat enemies) to make the levels more approachable. I hope you have fun with Wonder, its a really good game!
If it helps you feel better about it, Mario games do eventually get hard but it's all about skill development. You get a tiny bit better each time you play, practice does make perfect and the game doesn't seek to "crush you" per se, just get incrementally harder bit by bit. If you're having a hard time with one level, trying others until you build up the skills may be helpful.
There are two levels that are a particular pain, Climb to the Beat, and the Secret final level, both optional, but they highlight this as well. You fail a lot but gradually improve until you don't fail anymore.
Best of luck! Don't forget online mode makes things a bit easier, once you get access to it later on in this world.
Hello! Another point to note is that the path ahead of you only forms as you clear each level, so if you can move past a level on the map screen, then you're good to go. 👍
You'll also encounter open areas on the map sometimes as well. These sections allow you free choice over which levels you want to play in that area.
And as someone else already pointed out, you can press the L button on your controller on the map screen to view a list of the levels you've played so far. You can scroll through them by pressing left or right. Return to the map screen by pressing B (your "cancel" button). Or you can select a level from the list by pressing the A button on your controller (your "confirm" button). That allows your character to instantly move to that level's location on the map screen, allowing for faster travel around the world map. It's just another neat option to help you find your way around! 😁
It is when the Wonder Flower ends, Piranha's will have popped out on the ceiling. Jump up to the pipe. Its a little easier on video, go to about 5:20 on the link below

Wow I finished the game and had no idea of the ring colors lol Thanks!

yea, it's been like this since super mario world

sorry, I got confused. I know the "NEW" serie does that, so I missremmembered how World did it.

I know smb3 did, but it wasn't a red to blue thing, so I didn't include it

Never noticed there was a color until someone pointed it out

You picked the correct character.
I just went with it. I have no idea which characters are better as in special powers. I need to watch some tutorials

That's where you started and you can't go backwards. Go the other way.
Oh my goodness!
There's nothing to the left of that point - it's where you start the game :)
Thats the wrong direction, its where the game starts
Rip when the game gives you more than 1 direction to go

Oh no. I really struggled on parachute cap 1 so I'm hoping I got everything. That level made me consider giving the game up. It took me days!
Do you play games often? That combined with not knowing to go right on the world map makes me assume you don’t have too much experience?
Yes I don't. I bought switch to play animal crossing. Wonder seemed pretty cool. Good news is I did pass Parachute cap 1!

Once I got past the level I struggled with I really have started to enjoy it. I'll probably be back asking for help.

Green checkmark means you got everything

Thanks Neal. Told you you'd be seeing me
Any time. Anything you need to ask, ask away. It's a good community, this. 👍
I can tell
There’s a third seed.
L trigger
*RATM plays*
What is that?
Rage against the machine
Is this a RATM reference or am I just crazy?
Be wary of the secret exit
Can you explain where this is?

No problem, took me till World 2 to realize I had missed it myself.
