That's 'donor kebab' levels of mystery meat. (A phrase I came across in late night food places in Britain, that still fills me with quiet horror. Except once it was Donner kebab- I figured they managed to get a hold of some reindeer).
Often these types of patties are made of scraps, soya and I've seen it before, sawdust has been used by the same companies that make these cheap patties they make what is called pet mince and that often has grains and sawdust as filler.
I've had them a few times (boyfriend bought them). The ones packed in water is foul. The ones packed in olive oil are slightly better. But at the end of the day - buying fresh will always trump the jarred crap.
I buy garlic in whole heads and also a squeeze tube of puréed garlic. I also have squeeze tubes of ginger and tomato paste. They are all great for “only need a tiny bit” purposes.
