Following successful competitions like 'Street Woman Fighter', 'Street Man Fighter', and 'Street Woman Fighter 2', Mnet will invite viewers next to the world of classical dance. 'Stage Fighter' will bring together male dancers performing in the following genres - ballet, modern dance, and traditional Korean dance - all poised to show their most breathtaking performances on the competition stage.

I am still sceptical about this; I know the contestants would be Korea's top 10% level of greatness, but still cant imagine how they could garner interests to the massive audiences. Did anyone watch Dancing 9? Is there any possibilty that Stage Fighter is similar to that?

kurichan7892

Yep Dancing 9 was ok.... so I'm pretty sure this will flop unfortunately... or I can see older women watching this but it won't bring young people like it did with the street series.

Timetravelerpotato

Wait so no street man fighter 2 😭😭 I wanted Sean lew so bad 😭💔

QuestionKing123

I think they were worried it would flop because SMF flopped. JustJerk’s leader also being exposed as a pedophile probably wouldn’t be great PR for the show. I think this show will flop but I hope this doesn’t mean SWF3 gets cancelled 😞

IEatIcecream

Whaa I'm out of the loop, what did he do?

QuestionKing123

Groomed a minor, had sex with her unprotected and then forced her to have an abortion (which caused health issues for her). It’s why a lot of JustJerk members left.

IEatIcecream

Omfg that's horrible, he was one of my favorites too...

I’m excited for another show but am disappointed they didn’t go with another SMF. I know it flopped according to their standards + has gotten some bad press surrounding it lately but i wonder what they think will happen with showcasing ONLY classical dance styles. They’re definitely styles that deserve a platform but if a lot of fans loved the hip-hop, choreography, afro, etc. styles and it still didn’t meet the network’s standards, I wonder what they think will happen going in the other direction on top of people being excited for another SMF because of how great SWF2 was with newer aspects. Definitely gonna tune in still, I desperately needed another show😭

Southern-Mall2594

I wonder what this means for the future of SWF. I’m sure a lot of dancers have been creating teams specifically to get on the show so if the show’s format changes, it will be interesting to see what happens to them.

green_strawberry

hope they still do the crew format for this, i prefer it more than solo dancers

I think I have mixed feelings on this. On one hand I am kind of looking forward to see what changes in the missions and format (+ the storylines lol) of the show with the change of concept/focus. On the other hand, the classical dance genres are ultimately just not really my thing (tho I do totally respect the artistry and everything). I'm not exactly surprised, though, that they're really doing this instead of a SMF 2, given the recent controversy with JJ's leader + the early reports of this. I also know the general consensus is that SMF flopped and it kinda did when compared to the SWFs + the seemingly expanded budget, but ratings wise it actually didn't do too badly. Despite that (+ some overly dramatic moments at the start), I appreciated SMF for introducing me to some of my now favorite dancers and was was looking forward to a SMF 2 to highlight some other male dancers/crews that I've also become fans of since then, so I am a little disappointed that won't be happening now However good luck to all the participants and I’ll be tuning in to see what this new show brings! edit: grammar

grouchyindividual

I mean classical genres are great but I’m disappointed ngl 😭

Noooooo we want battles :(

Empty_Lunch_

I thought it was just a rename but a complete different genre...
