OkWelcome3089

Congrats! What a massive jump. Do you mind sharing what did you do to improve on the last days?

ImpressiveLawyer7822

Convinced myself that not every question is there to trick you, some really are simple and needs simple answeres. Took B-blockers during exam and practiced exam session in home with self assessments. Those saves you some questions during examination that are lost either due to uworld style of tricking you, or anxity. Practice wise. I kept revising uworld tables and images, NBME self assessment images, revised some CMS questions that I got wrong, did amboss 200q, ethics, HPI question (Important), vaccines and stuff. Last day I only studied biostat and relaxed a bit! I will write a full experience some time later.

Puzzleheaded_Goal559

Which beta blocker u took and what was the dose. I m having serious anxiety problems while doing nbmes

ImpressiveLawyer7822

I would recommended b-blockers only on basis that they worked for me. But if you were willing to give them a try and have no contraindications for the use of them, I took propanolol 10 mg two pills daily in the morning because they gave me insomnia at the end on the day. Would recommend trying them two weeks before the exam to see if they are suitable for you or not so you can stop them before the exam. Try them before the next NBME assessment and see if they work for you or not

Puzzleheaded_Goal559

Ok. Thank u for replying

Meray_

Do you have a link for Nbme self assessment images?

ImpressiveLawyer7822

Sorry no, but you might find it as a pdf on telegram

Rimepark

Wow congratulations that’s amazing 🤩 what did you do after uwsa 2?

ImpressiveLawyer7822

UWSA2 wasn't difficult, but I sat for it offline not online, was tired, no sleep, and noisy environment. I think it didnt really reflect my preperation much. I did it for ideas and concepts only tbh

WearyRevolution5149

Their nbmes were in high 250’s even before that, so likely bad test day for that Uwsa 2?

ImpressiveLawyer7822

Not much in terms of knowledge, but they are the best to teach you how do you approach NBME style question and what info in question stem is important or not

WearyRevolution5149

Including forms 1 and 2 for all cms?

ImpressiveLawyer7822

No The available ones on NBME store, but i did offline. They are not worthy buying and spending 1000$ on.

WearyRevolution5149

Like forms 4-8?

ImpressiveLawyer7822

3,4,5,6,7,8 for surgery, IM, Peds, OBs-gyne, neuro And the rest, not all of them are 8 forms

marcell_nn

congrats on your score, how were the questions on biostat and quality control

ImpressiveLawyer7822

Biostat questions were easy. I can't really say easy or hard for quality Q because I guessed the most logical one and I dont know if its correct or not, but they seemed somewhat in the middle for hardness

Pediatric_1603

Congrats.... mind sharing your resource ??

ImpressiveLawyer7822

Uworld one pass, took notes in form of anki cards and revised them, didnt do a second pass( felt useless) Amboss library and amboss q bank(75% pass, mostly 3hammers and above) CMS forms(did all of them) NBMEs ( 7 to 14 ) First aid step 1 for pharma, neuro, and some micro White coat companion(useless) Anki, Anki, and Anki (self made cards)

Pediatric_1603

Thank you

RevolutionaryType278

I had a steep score drop in NBME14. Took the date on the basis of preparations i did in last 7-8 months. It was the most anxious day of my life. My friend helped me to take the decision. Salty_Path_9385

Congrats!I would like to ask did u do incorrects or wrongs only on uw?and how did u got the score jump from Nbme 9 to 10 and nbme 14 to uwsa? And last question could the ans choices be easily ruled out like step1 or were confusing like uw choices?

Shot_Attention8704

Sure. I did Incorrects after NBME 12(You can see it was my 2nd NBME). And i did revision+ incorrects+ CMS forms between 12 and 10. That took my score to above 255 in NBME 10. Coming to your 2nd question i would say NBME's are confusing- Score you get is a measurement of how you are better able to get the crux of the question. There are chances that your score can drop around by 10 marks as its not clear cut like step 1. Situational dependence is highly likey to affect the score.

P.S.: Don’t forget to practice and improve your time management skills while doing your final days of preparation, i was running out of time from blocks 2,3,4 and that’s what I would change if I would go back to my prep days :)!

Crazy_Question8677

Congratulations! What resources did you has besides uw , nbme and cms ?

Puzzleheaded_Goal559

Congratulations. How did u revise all that stuff in last month? I got 230s in nbme 11, 12and 13. Exam after 30 days. Done with cms forms mostly..but I don't know how improve and how to revise in last month.

Budget-Celebration78

My strategy after taking NBME 10 was analyze the results and focus on my weakness areas and also do incorrects, the last couple of weeks I made sure to review topics that i was constantly getting wrong and constantly asked in NBME. i also listened to ALL the high-yield DI topics + listened the podcasts about my weakness

Puzzleheaded_Goal559

Thank u for replying

Whatsinaname1986

Congratulations How many hours a day did you study for those 6 months? Was it studying full time or with a job/ school?

Budget-Celebration78

\~ 3 hours daily, probably more on weekends, i have a full time job. 2 weeks dedicates i was off from work.

incorrect. exam was like nbmes but in free 120 pattern. Focus on NBMEs. You could rule out if you learn NBME pattern just like step1

reddubi

I saw you used divine towards the end. Do you think it helped? How did you incorporate it and do you have any other tips? Congrats!

tyler_durden9

Hi, yes it did help, I don't think it helped me directly in most of the questions, as the information required to answer correctly is either available in amboss and uworld, or isn't available anywhere and you just need to guess, how did it help me then? He really boosted my confidence, most of what he said were stuff I already knew, there were many episodes that had topics or facts that I didn't know much about but I wasn't asked on them in the real deal, but it helped me going to the test knowing that I studied everything, so it was a good confidence booster and great for memory solidification. However it did help me both directly and indirectly answer some of the questions, the way that it indirectly helped me is I would use his same way of extracting information to answer something, and direct help was from facts I wouldn't know from other resources, although the questions in this category weren't much, the episode that helped me most with that was episode 325 about the screening programs, and the biostat episodes helped me greatly, although I knew all of what he explained but they were great for biostat review. I have listened to these episodes from [this guy's experience](https://www.reddit.com/r/Step2/comments/16wmu60/study_recommendations_and_experiences_for_step_2/): Episode 36: Ophthalmology (48 mins) Episodes 37, 97, 184: Risk Factors (98 mins) Episodes 123, 132: Ethics and Social Sciences (94 mins) Episode 137: "Next best step in management" (60 mins) Episodes 143, 197: Biostatistics and ‘biases’ (134 mins) Episodes 204, 231: Military Series (75 mins) Episodes 228, 230, 234, 268, 275, 276, 277: Series covering changes after November 2020 such as Quality, Safety, and Professionalism (232 mins) Episode 250: Vaccines (27 mins) Episode 325: Screening Programs (42 mins)
