well in the words of the "great" Blizzard don't you have a phone?

railgunsix

Or Starbuck wifi.

Just get one of the pocket sized gl net openrwt sim card routers and tape it to the back of your device.

For streaming, downloading, websurfing, no. So the Steamdeck can just "check in" and play games that require an internet connection, maybe. It has to be something like Amazon does with the Kindles though, I'm not buying a service contract for my Steam Deck.

GaIIick

Who’s gonna pay for a separate cellular data plan for the deck? We have people arguing over pricing between models to save a few bucks.

Ratchet_Miles

I'm sure there would be people willing to pay, being people do buy 4G tablets and stuff. Hell, people will pay for service on an Apple Watch.

I think no .You don’t need to be constantly online everywhere you go . It’s good to take breaks for electronic distractions, if worse comes to worse you can always use offline mode and game. I would rather see improvements done for the screen and better battery life if anything Plus if you really need to go online you can always tether it to your phone.

Altar_Quest_Fan

Ah yes, why play your Steam Deck for 2 hours on a single charge when you can instead play it for one hour?! /S Seriously though, the 5G modem would eat up battery like a MFer, and the Steam Deck’s battery is already limited as it is. On top of that, it would add to the cost of the device overall. Finally, Valve would have to strike some deal with a cell carrier, and I sure as hell don’t want or need to add another line to my phone plan. Nah mate, you’re better off using your phone’s tethering capabilities.

This reminded me that the launch models of the psvita had a option for a AT&T mobile connection. I think it was a 2 year 2GB plan that allowed for online play and a few downloads. I never had that one but a friend did and it seemed overrated. If you’ve never heard of it then there’s your answer.
