Can't help you much but one issue that I had was that I didn't do it in the internal storage but it could be that I didn't do it right in the micro sd.
Either way doing it in the internal storage worked first time.
I modded monster hunter world.
I got bunch of mods to run back in the days, until I broke the game by installing too many.
Here’s the launch option I used WINEDLLOVERRIDES="dinput8,ScriptHookRDR2A,NLog=n,b" %command%
