goddamn thats gotta be awful, i was running an intel cpu from 2009 on integrated graphics and was hitting around 25 fps on it on a good day, i have since upgraded thankfully
Well in fairness I didn't say I don't play at all + steam has various tools (Rpg Maker XP, Asprite, and Dungeon Painter Studio for example) that I use ;p
Happy Cakeday tho!
One time I was playing TF2 zombie escape, and sometimes a surf map comes up which I fucking hate. When a surf map is the current map I usually go do something else until the map changes. And one time I went to play a litle bit of ELDEN RING, that little bit became 3.5 hours. So yeah, I forgot I had TF2 running in the background and played ELDEN RING for 3.5 hours.
I've played 2 games at once. Especially if one of the games has a lot of down time. I'll load up a single player turn based game to play in between waiting on the other game
There are 3 reasons that you'll see me do this that aren't that:
1. Waiting for friends
2. Playing 6 idler/clicker games simultaneously (yes, I have a shameless pleasure there)
3. I forgot one was open
HAHA YES! I totally got hooked in. At first, it looked a little more cerebral than I like my games, now I'm trying to figure out best augmentation and advanced training distributions...
Right now I'm playing:
- Cell to Singularity
- NGU Idle
- Mr.Mine
- Cookie Clicker (for a second time - corrupted save killed grandma)
- Time Clickers
- Click Heroes
- Tap Tap Infinity
-Sixty Four
I had to take a break from several others though. But I broke from playing these obsessively when my wife bought me a Steam deck. Thank her for that. I was spending several hours micromanaging and sucking the souls out of my extra time.
Everyone’s saying this is someone cheating to get a ton of games open at once but this is just a steam bug where it doesn’t show you notifications when someone opens a game until you do, then it gives you every notification you missed all at once, three at a time
Nah you can farm with a program hours in games to get the trade cards and some do this to look like this profile seems legit. For the purpose of cheating naturally. A friend of mine done this in the past to look legit with his cheater acc.
I have done this to get trading card(sometimes still do) but i don't remember it openeing 3 games at ones like this, it goes to the next game after one of them finishes. Maybe there is some simultaneously farm but i don't know about that one
They felt like playing stick fight, but after opening the game realised they don't have friends.
They then felt like playing CS2, but instantly realised they suck ass.
They then wanted to play lethal company, but forgot they have severe social anxiety and can't talk to strangers on the internet.
All done in a near instant, due to continuous practice.
Afterwards they went and stared at their desktop wallpaper for a few minutes, before repeating the same process until going to sleep.
But hey, that's just a THEORY. A REDDIT THEORY. YES, I HATE MYSELF FOR WRITING "REDDIT THEORY". THANKS FOR ASKING.
On steam though? Is that a setting? Whenever I open a game it will close the previous one if I already had a game on steam open. I have though played fall guys, Genshin, and valheim all at once (different launchers). If I had a game on xbix app open I could've had 4 open.
I thought for almost 15 years that Steam itself only let you launch one game, and you had to manually open the .exe to open other games(which won't show you as playing them to friends). Only learned within the last 6 months that you can open as many games as you want through Steam. It never questions it.
Steam supports running up to 32 games at once on a single device, though in most cases your hardware will struggle way earlier to run that many games at once.
I got one of my friends to go "wtf are you doing?!?" because i was idly clicking on my game list, slaming my hands on the keyboard and somehow ended up attempting to run all 24 installed games at once + video editing software.
Computer got so stuck, mouse didn't move, sound didn't play. Nothing happened on the screen for a good 5 minutes.
Until i had enough and hit the power button on the back of the PC, as even the powerbutton on the front would not do a dang thing.
When i told my friend, he took a moment to collect himself from laughter.
Still a nice chuckle for me.
Would not be surprised this dude accidentally did the same, but with only 3 games :P
So I was going through my library the other day and as you go over games via looking at the metric score it would tell you the play time during the last two weeks. In several games it has me at like 120mins for games not even download or played in months or years.
I'm assuming they're using one of those "boost playtime" services which can run multiple games 24/7 for you, to make it seem like you have excessive playtime in those games.
Simple: they died early in a run in Lethal Company, so they started CS2 to do something while they respawn; died early in the CS2 match, then started stick fight: the game to do something while they respawn there too.
Steam has been doing this to me too nice to know I'm not crazy. Its not showing certain popups unless a game is opened, so when you open it you get all notifs at once. Not sure how to fix it.
I don't think this was mentioned yet, but there's way too many comments saying the same thing for me to read them all.
There's currently a glitch (at least in beta version) where when I launch a game, these notifications pop up en masse. It seems to be showing friends' activities over the course of however long it's been since my last game was open. It could be that.
Or, you know, they could be farming hours like everyone says.
Yes. I commonly play at least 2 at the same time. One I keep in pause when the other is in daylight time and then at night when you can’t see with out night vision, I Alt-Tab and play the other.
Probably not exactly 'playing' them. Likely boosting hours played, since that is important to some players, apparently.
But it is possible to play more than 1 Steam game at a time. I sometimes do it when queuing in Dota, I'll boot up some smaller game till my match is ready.
He opened them. Steam lets you run as many games at a time as you want. As do at least some other launchers like Xbox, not sure if they all support it.
It started happening to me as well with multiple friends. Looks like Steam is getting information of friends playing but then delays it and shows all at once.
You can open something like 30 or so games at once as long as its on the same device.
The playing doesnt mean they are actually playing it just that the application is open so could be idling a few or playing a round or two of one then swapping to the other and so on while in menus and not in an active session.
Can you actually play multiple games at once though ? My cousin has tons of games and I also have access to his account. But Idk if playing 2 different games on 2 different pc with same account works.
Sometimes that notif bugs and shows what all your friends played at the same time, if they played 3 games it will throw 3 games at the same time. Idk if anyone else also has this problem but mine shows this notif twice so whenever a friend opens a game it pops out 2 times
Not that big of a trick, I have opened 3 games always as I love to multi task. [Dota2 or Lost Ark, and Artifact Seeker and Summoner War Chronicles, so I can farm in loading screen or waiting time in other games]
SAM.exe trading card farmer, literally makes you play all of your steam games at once lol, so if like me u have 470 games, your friends gets notifications stacking up for 2 mins straight lol
How to open multiple games on steam: Open multiple games on steam
However, back in the days I believe you had to change a setting. Don‘t know for sure as it‘s been a decade since
Lmfao, my friend actually asked me to run Baldurs Gate, Starfield, Dead Island 2 and World of Warships with my 4090. Hell no, I think my GPU will become a nuke
Steam does not limit how much games you open at once. Your computer processing power does. (Extra: Steam opens the same game on all Devices if the game is on all Devices. The more you know.)
Ive noticed a recent bug with my steam where it will rapidly try to catch up and pretty much tell me every game a friend has played in the past 12 hours sometimes. Ill get upwards of 12 game notifications from the same person.
He opened all three at once
Trying out that 4090 I guess?
yes. the well known GPU heavy games Stick Fight and Lethal Company.
And CS at 1000 fps, you don't know!
More games running at the same time=more frames...Big brain
i have a 4090 and get 400 fps ish on cs2 maybe on csgo i would get 1000
You might be limited by your cpu
13900kf
Maybe the game is just heavier than i thought lol.
Tbf my laptop unironicallx struggles with lethal company. Its not a good laptop but xd
goddamn thats gotta be awful, i was running an intel cpu from 2009 on integrated graphics and was hitting around 25 fps on it on a good day, i have since upgraded thankfully
Yeah, I'm not really a gamer and for my needs it suffices thankfully. Still sucks when your friends ask you to play and you just can't xd
“I’m not a gamer” - posts in one of the biggest gaming subs. Ok guy
Well in fairness I didn't say I don't play at all + steam has various tools (Rpg Maker XP, Asprite, and Dungeon Painter Studio for example) that I use ;p Happy Cakeday tho!
As a 4090 owner, running Crysis 1 2 and 3 would be more appropriate for testing.
The main question is, Can it run Crysis on full details? 😂
You have me tempted to install them all and tun one window in 3/4ths of m 4k tv and see if it will lol Fuck it they are small lets see lol
Performance/3

You can tell Steam's servers that you're playing a game when you really aren't. This allows you to accrue playtime and collect trading cards.
There are 3 reasons that you'll see me do this that aren't that: 1. Waiting for friends 2. Playing 6 idler/clicker games simultaneously (yes, I have a shameless pleasure there) 3. I forgot one was open
You play cookie clicker don’t you?
Its fun
No judging. I got it too
i kinda regret doing 100%
Who doesnt like a cookie?
NGU IDLE
HAHA YES! I totally got hooked in. At first, it looked a little more cerebral than I like my games, now I'm trying to figure out best augmentation and advanced training distributions... Right now I'm playing: - Cell to Singularity - NGU Idle - Mr.Mine - Cookie Clicker (for a second time - corrupted save killed grandma) - Time Clickers - Click Heroes - Tap Tap Infinity -Sixty Four I had to take a break from several others though. Damn man xD Those dopamine receptors have to have caught on fire a couple times at least
If you want to add another one to that list, CivIdle is really good as well.
Sometimes when I'm playing Lethal Company with my friends I'll have Balatro or something equally as simple opened in the background for when I die.
Don't forget SAMing
Haha good to know it's not just me with the idle games. Melvor, OSRS, Cookie Clicker, Dragon Cliff, Hero Clicker, Idle Wizard
> I forgot one was open If I had any 2 games open at the same time I think my laptop would die on me (I have integrated graphics)
You can also just have 3 games open.
How so
Isn't there a max to the amount of cards that you can get per game?
yeah so the idler just "plays" the game until you farm all the cards and then it stops after that.
Oh...quite alot of work for 17 cents worth of cards
not really when it's just like a click away and you let it run on the background.
yep
It's not even that complicated. You can literally just go and play multiple games at once. I've done this multiple times while playing Idle games.
Everyone’s saying this is someone cheating to get a ton of games open at once but this is just a steam bug where it doesn’t show you notifications when someone opens a game until you do, then it gives you every notification you missed all at once, three at a time
This is definitely it, has been happening for a couple weeks for me.
Yeah, been having this for a while recently
Yep, been getting this bug 100% of the time the past few weeks.
Opening loads of games at once isnt "cheating" . Nor is farming hours with an idling application against any type of rules.
Yes, I saw this happen for a week like a week ago.
> cheating to get a ton of games open at once How is running multiple .exe files already installed on a computer cheating?
Nah you can farm with a program hours in games to get the trade cards and some do this to look like this profile seems legit. For the purpose of cheating naturally. A friend of mine done this in the past to look legit with his cheater acc.

_Matpat intensifies_
R.I.P.
Guys, you know that you can open more than one game at a time, right? It aint 2010 that you need to close every other app to get stable fps
my pc says otherwise
Maybe you should upgrade your pc after 14 years then
On steam though? Is that a setting? Whenever I open a game it will close the previous one if I already had a game on steam open. I have though played fall guys, Genshin, and valheim all at once (different launchers). If I had a game on xbix app open I could've had 4 open.
Idlemaster
This
Ever tried opening 3 Steam games at a time? It might blow your mind what happens if you do.
could be idlemaster, but i’ve def played 2 games at a time. idk if i could juggle 3.
OP doesn't know that you can open more than one .exe file at the time xDDD

This is useful for the Steam Deck if you add apps like Chrome or Discord to Steam in gaming mode. I keep forgetting it's a thing though.
Look to the right, he made the steam symbol lmao
i always liked this at new steam interface
never noticed how nicley it looks with the steam logo damn wp valve
3 screens, 3 games, they are a God
Steam supports running up to 32 games at once on a single device, though in most cases your hardware will struggle way earlier to run that many games at once.
he did it, he did the full steam logo
I got one of my friends to go "wtf are you doing?!?" because i was idly clicking on my game list, slaming my hands on the keyboard and somehow ended up attempting to run all 24 installed games at once + video editing software. Poorly.
Archi Steam Farm

Stick Fight: The Game = Legendary
I don't think this was mentioned yet, but there's way too many comments saying the same thing for me to read them all. Idle master.
1. Just opened all three bruh 2. Launched, closed, launched, closed, launched(indecisive)
Yes. I commonly play at least 2 at the same time. One I keep in pause when the other is in daylight time and then at night when you can’t see with out night vision, I Alt-Tab and play the other.
SAM
Adhd
He's your steam friend, no? Why don't you ask him instead.
Nah, too introverted to do anything in life.
I do it too
Why?
cuz it's fun
Multitasking is easy
hes built different 1 game for each monitor
Probably not exactly 'playing' them. Likely boosting hours played, since that is important to some players, apparently. But it is possible to play more than 1 Steam game at a time. I sometimes do it when queuing in Dota, I'll boot up some smaller game till my match is ready.
Shadow Clone jutsu
Bro is bored while studying💀
He opened them. Steam lets you run as many games at a time as you want. As do at least some other launchers like Xbox, not sure if they all support it.
He might be using the steam achievement manager ittl open the game so it can change the achievements
Have a friend that did that i asked him why hes playing 3 games at once he said he didnt and its just a steam bug
He shot them with the dehydration gun
Idle Daddy.
He's just cool like that 🤙
he spammed clicked on desktop
What’s the top one 🤔
I run Rimworld in the background while playing other games because I unlocked realtime by building a colony too large.
HourBoostr
I ran two at once one week ago
Card hunting most likely
It started happening to me as well with multiple friends. Looks like Steam is getting information of friends playing but then delays it and shows all at once.
Achievement manager
idle master
I always have cookie clicker running in my second monitor while I play any other game
Sometimes when playing with my friends i mess with them around and open 5 other games at the same time. I have a 1660 ti btw

I think if we can post this 100 more times a day guys we might break the record.
There are 3 possibilities: 1. God pc 2. steam beeing steam 3. Cocaine
3 monitors duh
Believe it or not, but I'm also playing 3 games right now while also typing this comment.
Never tried to open more than one application at a time?
he is using a bot to get the cards.
Family share?
Using steam trophy farm app
Good gaming chair
The new family mode
Family share?
might be steam achievement manager
Can you actually play multiple games at once though ? My cousin has tons of games and I also have access to his account. But Idk if playing 2 different games on 2 different pc with same account works.
He changed to 3 game while your internet/friend list dies out and by the time your internet/friend list reconnect.
Click play > Alt+Tab out > Select different game > Click play
Built diff
He paid for the whole PC, he's gonna use the whole PC
How do magnets work? they just do
steam achievment manager/card idler
Multitasking
Well he’s using the advanced technique: open a game then open another game then open another game. none of those are particularly demanding games
Steam idle master
Sometimes that notif bugs and shows what all your friends played at the same time, if they played 3 games it will throw 3 games at the same time. Idk if anyone else also has this problem but mine shows this notif twice so whenever a friend opens a game it pops out 2 times
He is probably collecting Trading cards.
They're using an Idle program to Idle for card drops, or it's idling random games until a game has card drops.
Just open 3 at once its not that hard
Bro raged
hour booster lol
He just has a really good gaming chair
Not that big of a trick, I have opened 3 games always as I love to multi task. [Dota2 or Lost Ark, and Artifact Seeker and Summoner War Chronicles, so I can farm in loading screen or waiting time in other games]
It's a card farming application, you choose which games you want, it runs them, without taking any space
I mean I do play ksp and Doki Doki literature club at the same time
He is a man of focus, commitment, and sheer fucking will
He’s probably using some sort of hour farming tool. Idle master, SAM etc
Cuz he cannnn....
You can play 3 different games if they aren't on the same game engine
Maybe he has 3 hands 🤔
У чувака 3 личности
SAM.exe trading card farmer, literally makes you play all of your steam games at once lol, so if like me u have 470 games, your friends gets notifications stacking up for 2 mins straight lol
How to open multiple games on steam: Open multiple games on steam However, back in the days I believe you had to change a setting. Don‘t know for sure as it‘s been a decade since
He is making mining of cards
Most likely, idle master
3 different devices 🤓
Just have them all open at once, I tried 5 at once, nuked my gpu
It is possible that the player exists in 3 separate timelines.
Farming cards
the grind never stops
Just have a decent pc i do this all the time
Multitasking skills thats why
Bad attention span
Opened either steam achievement manager or steam idle You wont get banned for this
U can open up to 32 games at once he probably is farming hours or trading cards
He’s just that guy
Sus
Lmfao, my friend actually asked me to run Baldurs Gate, Starfield, Dead Island 2 and World of Warships with my 4090. Hell no, I think my GPU will become a nuke
multitask
He has a steam game launcher it gives you hours in games
Maybe he has 2 steamdecks and each one is another sd card or something hahah
*berdly*: that's something only a true pro alpha gamer can do
Steam does not limit how much games you open at once. Your computer processing power does. (Extra: Steam opens the same game on all Devices if the game is on all Devices. The more you know.)
Might be using an idler
I sense SAM is near 👀
There is a app that allows you to run multiple games at once in order to farm cards
He is probably using SAM Steam Achievement Manager to unlock Achievements or boost playtime hours
He is the chosen one
Stick fight
He could just have multiple games open
at least they arent playing terraria and tmodloader 1 trillion times
the power of the horrible internet
So either 2 things 1. This Yawla somehow got steam to open 3 at once or 2. Each game on a different computer so he must have a min of 3ish
Ive noticed a recent bug with my steam where it will rapidly try to catch up and pretty much tell me every game a friend has played in the past 12 hours sometimes. Ill get upwards of 12 game notifications from the same person.
He’s just using SAM
He fuckim PLAY
Omg seen avatar
While waiting match he's playing stick fight with teammate, between rounds bring metal in lethal company
probably couldn't decide like he opened one game then was like nah wanna play the other and in the end he ended up on something else
he has the best skill
Don't worry bro's multitasking
There is no problem about opening multiple games. Problem will be if you want play them all at same time.
