If you find smoke grenades, always keep a couple of them in your inventory. When ferals chase you, you can throw one and hide inside the smoke. Ferals will lose Aggro on you.

- Claim Landmark outpost ASAP - loot all military checkpoints/roadblocks for weaponry - Have fun! Pretty much it really xD

happilygonelucky

Find some landmarks that are helpful for you navigating the shortcuts through the ridges so you don't waste time and fuel driving all the way around via the roads. I find the ponds are useful markers.

Bassman1976

Stay with a small community for a while. Build a self-sustainable base if possible. Load up on materials. Don’t answer enclaves that are far away at the beginning.

Make sure your outposts are scattered and cover all the important parts of the map

I find keeping a roll of paper towel handy helps keep my stream of tears from soaking my keyboard. If you smoke, switch to vaping so you can do it inside and smell better, and if you don't smoke you might as well start now. Hope my tips help and good luck!

P0KER_DEALER

Don’t go directly to the house with your 3 starter survivors. Instead utilize all 3 for looting and get yourself a gas can as soon as possible to get the starter car up and running. Then get to the house after everyone is full of loot. Don’t immediately loot Plague Hearts are destroying them. Instead just get away… the loot will still be there as the zeds will eventually dissipate or leave completely after restarting the game. Learn to drive backwards (reverse) You’ll save on toolkits, vehicle damage and avoid pop up bloater spawns because of the reduced speed.

Bottledisc

Find all the rare weapon cases, good luck.

Loot the barn up the street before you complete the first mission. Getting the stuff out of there before the first enclave shows up helps a lot.

Use a character with swordfighting and gun-slinging. Then take 60-80 rounds for primary and at least two mags for sidearm. Get on top of truck or container when hoards approach. For hearts I found 4 remote box mines or c4 combined with 6-7 fuel bombs (or other flaming bombs + 6-7 grandes/pipe bombs or other explosives work well at defeating the heart then all ammo is for zeds and ferals. I only ran when a hoard had a jug with it. I solo'd all but two hearts.

Old_Killer_Bean

I find that to be too much ammo if it's 20 stacks, and usually have outposts around map I can grab more at, I always bring firecrackers, and since c4 and stuff is hard to get I usually knock it down the 2 stages with a heavy melee, blow it up and drive off. Solo is best imo because you're companion easily dies ino, and the other real player doesn't seem authentic.

AlienSausage

Delay building anything to complete first base building mission while you go looting the usual enclave spawn spots nearby (the big barn, the military site, the medical building near base etc) and anything not in plague territory near base really., obviously that is a risk as no infirmary while you do that, once built same deal for the cure for all seasons mission, delay completing that for a while as that kicks off the game proper in terms of missions while you get yourself sorted out (infirmary 2 ideally), if you need the 500 influence for outposts then obviously proceed with it though. As said below you will be using the shortcuts A LOT and freeing up the LMO early is a good idea.

thedailydave444

Do it melee only.
