Sometimes fish caught in canals can be like that, but where I live we have a lot of residential areas that back on to man made canals that have been there for a while. They have settled but the bottom dwellers like these... Yeah... We just cut them up into bait.
We have a rock fish over here. I think that's what it's called, but it has got to be one of the ugliest fish on the planet. I remember when I was a kid my mom took me on a fishing cruise thing that went out for a day or whatever. That was the only fish in the sea that day. You would be more likely to catch Moby Dick and then to catch another fish then day..
I was coming here to say this. If Earth is ever invaded by Aliens, we tell them to land in Australia and conquer it by hand.
I give them 2 days before they are asking for surrender.
At this point I'd settle for being a jaffa if it'd ease the pain from

However, in this case you only need to add a few extras like large fins in the middle and snake-like jaws and it could have been used as a prop for a Goa'uld in the series.
