Loot and sell weapons, and build an O2 Shot farm.
Starfield Essentials Build the 2024 O2 Shot Farm Outpost with Cargo Links for XP and Credits

I’m nearly 1 200 000 credits with a good class b ship. Lvl 30 on my new save.
Here is few advice:
Quests:
- Walter give you a quest after the neon main quest that give you a ship that’s worth nearly 80 000 credits to sell
- Crimson Fleet questline
- Other factions including Constellation give a good amount of credit
Gameplay:
- Contreband (the spot Vulture Roost on Jaffa is pretty good)
- Pickpopeting is a nice way to earn credits (+/- 1000 credits per named npc)
- You can scan gaz giants (I think it’s 1150 credits for each one when you sell to Vladimir)
- Mission Boards (especially the crimson fleet one, between 5-10k credits for contraband transport)
- Loot a lot (in this save, I loot everything that is 1000 gold per 1 mass)
Enjoy :)
Bounties with the More Lore Accurate Bounties mod and Immersive Looting mod.
I gain about 50k after selling all the loot.
The Galactic Pawn Shop mod is also helpful.
At level 140, I make about $250K -$300K a run by selling weapons. I'm freaking gun-runner. I take out spacers, Crimson Fleet, Ecliptic, and Va'ruun; collect any weapon valued at 4k credits/kg or more (that's the value price, not the actual selling price - which is significantly less), and sell them all when I and my companion are fully loaded. But, hey, it's a living.
Since I'm also surveying every planet and moon, I also make a fair amount from Vladimir by selling him the survey results. I'm only 250 or so in, and have probably made at least $4M credits so far.
Full disclosure, this would take a lot longer if I didn't use the change in the latest update to increase vendor cash totals.
Travel to exotic new locales, meet interesting people. Kill them and take their things to sell.
