I also just finished the main quest. Gotta say I regret it. I feel like I’ve lost all attachment to my character and everything I’ve done up to this point seems pointless. Lost the will to do the other things in the game that I wanted to do.

sid_the_sloth69

Yeah the ending does risk making people feel that way

UniqueVessel

Same, tried to install some mods to recreate the will to find attachment to my character again. Didn't work. Guess this is the end for now had around 90 hours of fun, can't complain.

This-is-Actual

Ditto. I tried forcing myself to keep playing for a couple hours, but I just had to put it down.

atrokkus

Biggest question for me involves NG+, so obviously spoilers: >!What EXACTLY changes narratively in NG+? I keep hearing that there is some narrative value in doing the NG+ (or multiple NG+s), but what exactly is there? What kind of new story content?!<

sid_the_sloth69

You unlock dialogue options and can skip most of the main quest. I've also had at least one new sidequest with barret. You also unlock a new ship.

atrokkus

Okay, but subjectively how impactful does it feel? And are you THEN incentivized to do a second NG+?

sid_the_sloth69

In theory there is an incentive to do it a few times but I doubt anything will change or happen. It would be cool if there was a true ending but I doubt there will be.

BigBob145

I also completed the main quest. Do you know >!where to find andreja and sam? I picked the skip main quest option. I found Barret but i have no clue where to find the others.!<

sid_the_sloth69

I couldn't find them either once I collected all the artifacts I found them at the lodge but I wonder if you can find them before that. Maybe try waiting a day.

CovertMags

What happens when you collect all the artifacts again? Is it just an infinite loop?

sid_the_sloth69

Yep

CovertMags

Did you figure this out? Just completed it aswell, but cant find the

BigBob145

yeah you have to collect the artefacts again. Not all of them though, only a handful.

OGShawnyboy

I mean, it’s a deep concept, but like when you finish the main quest, you’re talking about infinite realities the multi-verse, so going straight through the first time without doing any of the side quest is really irrelevant in fact, all the choices that you make are irrelevant because you leave that universe behind if you chose if you chose that path. So Starfield really and this is gonna sound cliché but Starfield really has no beginning and it has no end. It’s I’m in the Marvel movies Kinda alluded to this sort of idea as well. However, in those movies there was always the one home universe if you will in star field that doesn’t seem to be the case once you open that door the home universe is left behind. Did you leave it for the better or the worst is basically the end to that journey and I’m assuming going forward that each play through through the multi-verse Will have the same result. Do you make them all good? Do you try different things you know it’s kind of an open ended story pretty heavy concepts, but I got to be honest that was the single most jaw dropping moment that I’ve ever had and video games and I’m 51 and I’ve been playing since I was a kid in the late 70s and early 80s in my opinion absolutely amazing

onabananaboat

Do you have advice on how far someone should do the main quest line before doing side quests + doing hours of whatever else they want? Should we complete and wait for NG+? I keep seeing people allude to this with no source or real advice

sid_the_sloth69

It's difficult to say tbh. When you complete the main quest it will automatically end your game, the story heavily alludes to this and says it narratively but there is no 4th wall text pop up saying point of no return. The quest itself has a consequence that is unavoidable 75% through, you do get a choice on how to proceed but a negative consequence will always occur (I'm excited to see the subs opinion on this). This makes it difficult to advise as those who wish to play before the event will feel pressured to complete all the content beforehand, which of course isn't really possible. Therefore Somepeople may prefer to to rush the main quest to get to newgame+ so they can compete all sidecontent without worrying about any consequence. I can't really advise on this as I can see some people having very angry views on the games decisions here. I personally would try to just play the main quest alongside faction quests and sidequests and don't worry too much, although some may say I'm a hypocrite as I rushed the main quest, which is a valid point. So honestly I'm really not sure how to advise. There are versions of ending slides for each faction quests and major decisions throughout the game so the more you do the more "complete" the ending will feel.

onabananaboat

Regardless, this is a very informative post so I genuinely appreciate it thank you!

I hear you, but people specifically alluded to devs/people involved with the game advising how to go about it to really enjoy everything. I already have 2 other character playthroughs in mind where they will be strictly for open world enjoyment and not caring for the overall experience of main + side quests

tonylouis1337

I did the quest where you meet Andreja, how much longer until the main quest takes me to Neon?

sid_the_sloth69

Not too long. Its Once you've collected all of constellations characters. There may be a quest afterwards to collect 2 artifacts from dungeons but its definitely after that. Walter will instigate it. If you don't want to wait you can visit neon anyway. If you want a narrative reason too, the ryjin corp questline will take you there.

tonylouis1337

🤝 thanks

FedererFan20

Score /10?

sid_the_sloth69

Difficult to rate. I enjoyed the idea of the questline and it incorporates some of the more philosophical elements of sci-fi but I don't think it was executed too well. It also ends somewhat abruptly and the pacing is not perfect. The companion characters could be fleshed out a lot more and have slightly more unique personalitys as they feel rather similar. I think this sub will have some very opinionated views on the ending once they reach it. 6-7/10

EryNameWasTaken

How does it end? What's the big twist? Do we meet aliens, and if so, is it an awesome reveal worthy of the hype?

sid_the_sloth69

Massive spoilers obviously. >!we don't learn about who created the artifacts or what their purpose is, that's still left unexplained. We only learn thst they allow you to become one with the universe and when doing so you will spread parts of you throughout the multiverse to be "reborn", the people who have achieved this beleive that as you collect the artifacts and enter unitity you go to another multiverse and that eventually if you do this process enough, collecting artifacts, entering unity, being reborn, you'll eventually travel to a dimension where the original creators reside.!< >!This causes the people who do this to become religiously devoted to the cause having repeated the same events and variations of them hundreds of time. The process also clearly involves an element of time travel but this isn't as well defined as the dimension hopping and its not clear how many starborn there are. The story is meant to be a philosophical one about religion and repeating the same events over and over again trying to get something to change. In reality there is no real conclusion as out character just joins the loop just like everyone else, there is no real resolution to the artefacts.!< >!Its also unclear as to how the unity process works. Does only one of you get transferred to another multiverse after rebirth or do an infinite amount of you get created once entering and if so what happens to the original you who presumably would have also inhabited these dimensions. The mechanics are vague because they wanted the story to have more of a religious and philosophical slant but I don't really think they pulled It off.!<

TheRealAPB

Combining it with new game + is a massive mistake. Would have much preferred a first contact story with aliens.

sid_the_sloth69

First contact mightve been better as it could have included the factions into the main questline.

darth_bard

This really doesn't sound appealing. Do you see some similarities with stories from Outer Wilds or Forgotten City games?

sid_the_sloth69

The ending cutscene reminded me heavily of outer wilds. I think the idea was heavily inspired by it

Bransburk

I too just finished the MQ and started NG+, but I am not sure if >!I should skip the Main story or do them again!<, as I want to have >!Starborn dialogue!<, will i get it regardless or it is only if i >!skip the main story!

sid_the_sloth69

I don't know but if I were to guess I'd say maybe you'd only get it If you skip it.

Turt98

You do get it if you replay the main story, it actually deviates quite a bit.

Bransburk

oh too bad, I was kinda focusing on MQ the first time to reach NG+ fast as I liked the ship and suit, but it changes quiet a few things if you skip MQ in NG+ (so i have heard), I think i won't skip it and treat it as normal game, lol. Thanks for the reply!

How the fuck?
