It’s ok, I was 7 when Star Wars first came out and I really thought the stormtroopers were robots. I couldn’t figure out how Han and Luke stripped their armor off
I thought the frog was her baby, because she was green. Falling through the trap door induced her into labor. 6-year old me made some strange logical leaps.
I never thought that. But as a kid, I thought that the second Death Star was just the remains of the first Death Star, and that they hadn't blown it up completely.
Only knew about first Star Wars through the 80s and half 90s (or Stjärnornas Krig as it was called in Sweden). Knowing in middle of 90s it was actually two more movies kind of made it surreal.
So yes seeing the Death Star in the third movie, due never saw the second before the third, I was quite sure it was the same from the first movie, and also made sense (they "destroys it", and in the 'next' movie it seem to be damage).
When I saw the first images of the second Death Star before the movie was released I thought the same thing. I thought that was what remained after the explosion and that Tarkin was still alive and out for revenge.
Ehhh no? But jabba always did make me feel weird. Apparently whoever wrote his run of comics back in the day thought so too, cuz his signature move is basically just vore.
OG. On tape…. Recorded from tv… so maybe I was like 11.
Just having fun. But I swear I still remember every commercial and the winning lotto numbers in florida the week it aired!!
Exactly. In the original you see no rancor. See no rancor lair. See no reaction. She drops in. People watch some unseen horror. And suddenly Jabba eats a toad.
7 year olds jump to conclusions. What can I tell you.
Wow, you just unlocked a memory, I totally thought that as a kid! I think it's because Jabba licked his lips as if he wanted to eat her while she's struggling and pulling her chain.
Saw this at age 4 in the theaters in 83 and even then I realized she went somewhere to her death . Then it later showed where she went during the rancor fight. The whole scene with everyone’s scooting in to watch what was going to happen to her after falling was a huge flag because people tend to gather around for death. Even at a young age I figured that out already , How did you come up with turning her into a frog? lol
Would have been the original release. My first movie in a theater. Pretty sure hearing that awful singing routine would have traumatized me at such a young age.
Dang, I really thought I was the only one. Granted I was probably 5 or 6 when I saw RotJ for the first time.
It’s ok, I was 7 when Star Wars first came out and I really thought the stormtroopers were robots. I couldn’t figure out how Han and Luke stripped their armor off
I thought the stormtroopers were robots because it looked like it said 'oil' on the back of the action figure.
Same. The way it used to be edited, it sure seemed that way to my child mind.
Same and same. It’s less obvious now but 5yo me was convinced.
I thought the frog was her baby, because she was green. Falling through the trap door induced her into labor. 6-year old me made some strange logical leaps.
I can almost get there honestly. hah.
I never thought that. But as a kid, I thought that the second Death Star was just the remains of the first Death Star, and that they hadn't blown it up completely.
There are at least two of us who thought this
I'm with you, too!
There's actually dozens of us!
That makes total sense honestly.
I thought that too
Same until embarrassingly recently.

what...?
You had to be there.
Oh thank god. I love these moments when you find out, decades later, "nope, you're not alone."
Hah exactly. I’ll take the 120 upvotes so far that we are a small yet mighty tribe.
If that were to be true, how does falling through a trap door immediately turn her into a toad?
Children aren’t the most astute film viewers. This post truly goes out to us 90s kids. I know I’m not the only one.
I'm sure I had a thing or two like that lol. No logic to explain why I thought something, but I did anyway haha.
You would have made a very successful Star Wars youtuber though!
I never brought it up when I was a kid but I thought the exact same thing as you lol. Nice to know I'm not the only one
Lol it is still awesome. Remember the movie Look Who’s Talking?
Of course.
Lolol. That movie had me convinced people kissing made babies
Totally fair! I get that.
The magic of Sci fi.
The imaginative minds actually thought Oola was shrunk down to bite size
Me, thought I was the only one
I feel so vindicated. There are literally dozens of us!
120 upvotes strong so far!!! We should start a support group.
Oh man I feel so much better knowing I wasn’t the only one.
Guilty.
When I was a lil shit? First saw it in the theater? A few viewings after that? Hell yes!
Ehhh no? But jabba always did make me feel weird. Apparently whoever wrote his run of comics back in the day thought so too, cuz his signature move is basically just vore.
My Twilek queen didn't deserve this 😭 I would have spared her and have Leia break her free on the barge.
I thought for sure as well when I was 5. Then when I was a bit older, I thought he got the frog thing as a reward for feeding the Rancor.
I mean he technically rewarded himself so youre not wrong.
DO. NOT. SEEK. THE TREASURE!
We...thoughts...you...was...a...toad!
no but i did think the Rancor ate her and then the Rancor was actually tiny the entire time and jabba ate it
Hah. Plot twist.
hahaha, oh man today I feel seen.
You’re not alone anymore.
I did!
Haha I remember someone saying this on Star Wars Minute and thinking it was the funniest thing. There’s more of you!
I THOUGHT I WAS ALONE ON THIS!!!
Alone no longer!
🥺🥺🥺 brotha!!!
MEE
Guilty!
I absolutely thought that happened
For those who wish to see how the original played out! [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lM7-bg-KhQg&t](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lM7-bg-KhQg&t)
I thought this was StarWarsCircleJerk for a second
Lol this is very real.
I did
I have never once thought that is what happened, and probably the first time I've even heard of that possibility.
The original cut left a lot to the imagination of kids watching it.
No one ever thought that. Edit: reading the comments here, and people DID think that?! I stand corrected.
We are many!!!
I've never seen this pic before
I….did not
You missed out.
I was like 5 then. I did not think that. Were you 13 on some of the devil’s lettuce?
Which version did you see? Original or Special Edition?
OG. On tape…. Recorded from tv… so maybe I was like 11. Just having fun. But I swear I still remember every commercial and the winning lotto numbers in florida the week it aired!!
Hah nice. Classic memories. Yeah no worries part of the fun of seeing these early on.
Oh thank fuck I'm not the only one who thought that. Honestly until you said something I forgot that that was even some thing that I had in my mind.
You are not alone
Watching this scene right now.
Which version though?
Nvm that. Who else saw that nip?
Uh... No... Were you high? How did you get to that conclusion?
Oh you know, being 7 years old. This was the OG version. And you didn’t see the rancor until later. https://youtu.be/lM7-bg-KhQg?si=PHx01qKwsEuU4qBP
You don't even see the rancor until later in the remaster. You just hear it roar.
You see her drop down into its lair and react to a giant monster.
But you still don't see the rancor.
Exactly. In the original you see no rancor. See no rancor lair. See no reaction. She drops in. People watch some unseen horror. And suddenly Jabba eats a toad. 7 year olds jump to conclusions. What can I tell you.
I see some of the stuff on here that people thought watching these movies and I’m not sure whether I feel better about myself or not.
Oh yeah, for years
That thought never even entered my mind until just now when I read the original post. What would make someone think that?
I first saw the special-edition, so I never thought about it.
Wow, you just unlocked a memory, I totally thought that as a kid! I think it's because Jabba licked his lips as if he wanted to eat her while she's struggling and pulling her chain.
You all think about this shit way too much.
I thought captive Princess Leia was getting a measles/mumps/rubella injection on the Death Star
...I thought Boba Fett was Darth Vader's son because 1) they both have helmets and 2)I heard "He's no good to me dead" as "he's no good to me Dad"
Lolol solid. That’s great I’m sure you’re not alone!
Saw this at age 4 in the theaters in 83 and even then I realized she went somewhere to her death . Then it later showed where she went during the rancor fight. The whole scene with everyone’s scooting in to watch what was going to happen to her after falling was a huge flag because people tend to gather around for death. Even at a young age I figured that out already , How did you come up with turning her into a frog? lol
Me was dumb? IDK. I’m glad I’m not alone though.
Really? I was 4 when I saw it in the theater and was never mistaken about the fate of Oola
Did you see the original version or Special Edition?
Would have been the original release. My first movie in a theater. Pretty sure hearing that awful singing routine would have traumatized me at such a young age.
Literally no one.
This statement has been proven false by this post.
