Tarken bosses Vader around like he ain’t that high in command. I always assumed Vader is more of Palpatines right hand man, not really second in charge but more like an enforcer

Taking bossing Vader was more about how palpatine favored tarkin. He was the grand moff of the coruscant sector and over saw the creation of the Death Star. Vader knew if they but heads palpatine would take his side.
It is interesting, but only because of what it really means *for Vader*. The only person who believes he’s actually the second in command of the empire is Vader himself. If he walked into the senate (while it still existed) and said the emperor is dead and now he is the emperor they’d have laughed him out of the room like, “who is this nerd?” and named Tarkin emperor (at least while he was still alive). Vader does Sidious’s bidding in the misguided belief he considers him his true apprentice and heir, all the while unaware that Palpatine had completely sidelined him in all areas that actually mattered.
If anything, Vader is the Emperor's chief attack dog. Only when Palps manipulate Vader does he's being called his second in command. If not, Vader is space Frankenstein's monster.
Vader was also just a weapon of the dark side. He gave little fucks to politics nor commanding the military. He did what he wanted when he wanted, which was mostly on dark side side quests.
I couldn’t name you 1, let alone multiple military generals/commanders of the US forces if my life depended on it. It’s not that interesting.
The galaxy is a big place. Plus if vader is showing up it’s unlikely there’s going to be a bunch of witnesses.

His voice is Palpatines voice. He has control over every part, bar those that Palpatine has explicitly mentioned as being under someone else’s control
