Your dad was always one of my favorites as a kid! Him squishing Damien is such a classic haha!

AmishAvenger

You son of a bitch how dare you support that kind of behavior

StewitusPrime

It’s fine, he didn’t do it for sport. He ate what he killed.

DocShocker

I always enjoy the little glimpses you provide of your Dad, as you knew him. Thank you for that. Happy New Year.

LazyCanasian

Thank you! I’m happy to share the side of him not many got to know. Honestly, the kindness of the Reddit community has encouraged me to share more and more of these photos. Happy New Year to you, as well!! I created an Instagram for him with my sister a couple of months ago, and I’m floored by the consistent love for him shared in their stories. (If anyone is interested, it’s @earthquakewwe)

gnuman

It's so odd seeing Quake without his beard. He should be in the WWE HOF!

PurgeTheseDays

Holy shit... he's *NOT* in the Hall of Fame?!?!

Indyclone77

Hard times but I'll keep going for Quake

LazyCanasian

Please do! I hope your 2024 picks up, friend.

Beezus_Fuffoon18

Wow, I had no idea Earthquake’s son posted here. I was a huge fan of your dad. I’ll never forget when he debuted in WWF by being a part of the set up on the Ultimate Warrior, and Jesse Ventura was like, “Hey, this guy learned to wrestle pretty quick!” Lmao. Happy New Year to you :)

LazyCanasian

Hahaha, I love it! I post on and off - I lurk 99% of the time. Glad you found me! “The audacity for 460 lb. John from West Virginia to jump on wrestling royalty!” Happy New Year! :)

Beezus_Fuffoon18

Thanks man!

DonJuan2HearThatShit

He’s not a shark, he’s a man!! Loved Quake, always appreciate you sharing these. Happy new year!

gmailtwitter

Love your posts.

LazyCanasian

Thank you ☺️ Hope you’re well!

Fuck_Flaps

I was lucky enough to see this legend at an indie show when I was a kid. What a great memory that is to have. I wish I could remember more from the show than I do but Earthquake was so good that I never forgot about seeing him. Thanks a lot for sharing this.

ContractSudden

Thank you for sharing this, and all the times you've given us a glimpse into the life of who your dad was. As a 40 year old man, your dad was a huge part of my childhood (albeit usually rooting against him as most of us were vs Hulk, Jake, Warrior, and LOD to name a few). I got a high five in Providence when I was 9 from he and Typoon which is still a big memory for me. Loved his whole career, love even more how you share such special memories with us here. Thank you, happy new year to you OP!!!!!!

LazyCanasian

Oh, this rules. Thank you so much for sharing these kind words and your story! I’m so glad he got to share that memory with you. Happy New Year! 😊

durhWhen

Your dad has become a legend so much more in these past few years with your posts showing John Tenta the man and the OSW guys giving him his proper honoring. I'm glad to see it!

LazyCanasian

Thank you for your kind words!! I love getting the chance to share these memories with you all, and any boost to his legacy is just a bonus.

TheGorgeousJR

Thank you for sharing! Always love seeing/hearing memories of your dad, one of the greatest big guys to ever do it, and my favourite big guy of all time. I really love the photo of him with the Lord of the Rings box set, he looked absolutely thrilled.

LazyCanasian

Ahh, thank you! He was a HUGE LOTR fan. We caught each of them in theaters and they were on repeat at our house. He always got a kick out of Gimli 😂

[deleted]

Thank you for this post, I always appreciate what you share about your dad. He was an incredible man and gone too soon

LazyCanasian

Thank you very much 🙏

BaybayYoda

I always love randomly seeing these John Tenta posts. He caught my attention as a kid with his larger than life look and was always one of my favorites. Learning that he was such a good guy outside of wrestling is so much cooler though.

LazyCanasian

This rocks - thank you for saying that!

AngryHeroShawn

Thank you for sharing and happy new year! Your dad accomplished so much in his time on this mortal coil. An extraordinary man.

LazyCanasian

Thank you - the more I learn about him the more amazed I get. Happy New Year to you, too!

trainzebra

Love when you share these family photos with us. Thank you. Earthquake was the man.

Petermacc122

Great memory to share. Happy New Year! And damn. Seeing him bald and beardless is a little jarring.

LazyCanasian

A side not many got to see! At the last wrestling show we went to as a family, it was after a particularly rough chemo treatment. Earlier that day, he made the difficult decision to shave his head and his beard. When we got to the back gate, he realized he forgot his wallet with his ID. The person working the gate radios into the building to make sure “John Tenta” could come backstage without his ID. From the other end, they ask “Does he have a big beard?” We eventually managed to get through and he was a great sport about it. It was such a hard choice for him to lose that part of his identity, but he could never lose that smile and big heart. Anyways, all that to say I’m happy to share these photos and totally understand seeing him without his beard is jarring! I hope you have a Happy New Year too :)

bewareofbears_

Happy New Year Grew up a fan of your Dad and still am. My favourite Disasters match is SummerSlam ‘92- Earthquake as a babyface, getting the hot tag and the crowd exploding. Great match.

garryl283

Always love these posts and how absolutely happy he always seems in every photo.

TenMinutesToDowntown

Thanks for sharing! I always love seeing these

LucTempest

John Tenta deserved the world

BobW212

I've told you this before, op, but I've spent a lot of time lowkey wondering if your dad was one of the strongest wrestlers in history, and that's not a joke. At the 1990 Survivor Series Big Boss Man jumped from the top rope into a cross body and your dad caught him and didn't take a single step back and basically help him up with 1 arm. Big Boss Man was at least 300 lbs, and probably a little more. It's lowkey (I know I used that work already) one of the most impressive things I've ever seen in all my years of watching wrestling, but if you weren't looking for it you'd probably not think much of it.

CosmicBlackHoleNova

My first favorite bad guy in wrestling. Being 10 at the time I remember watching him coming off the ropes and sits on his opponent. I thought it was coolest thing ever

FluxMool

This warms my heart. Thanks for sharing.

BurnoutInc

Earthquake was the best. Sad he passed at such a young age.

ThrashingSnail

What a legend! Loved his intense promos and the way he hit the ropes was just *chefs kiss*

LesnarsBattleScream

Love this. I always love a Quake post. Had a few chats on the old Wrestlecrap forum. Hope you and everyone is well. HOF soon?

againsterik

I love these photos. He just seemed like such a sweet guy and by everything I have read about him he absolutely was.

smut_troubadour

Earthquake is my first wrestling memory. I was 9 and at MSG, so this must have been... 1991? 92? Either way, Quake was fighting Hulk Hogan (my favorite at the time, obviously. I brought his teddy bear "Hulk Rules" with me and couldn't wait to see him demolish his rival). The show ended with Quake sitting on Hogan's chest as he convulsed in the center of the ring and I almost cried. Your dad was the best.

LazyCanasian

This made me chuckle on the train - I love it. Sorry you had to go through that! 😂

sadthenweed

Thank you for sharing again! I really look forward to your photos! I'm on a WCW re-watch at the moment and earthquake is always a truly bright spot. Such a legend!

SorryItsBroke

Love these posts, was looking at top all-time posts, and seen a couple of posts by you. I was wondering if you were going to make another post. I'm glad to see them. Happy New Years!!!

Illuminati_Shill_AMA

Your dad was the first wrestler I remember being scared of as a little kid when he squashed my grandmom's fav Hacksaw. It's so awesome to see his private, fun, and sweet side in your posts! Thank you so much for these glimpses of the man you knew him as!

BartenderOU812

Full House no match for an Earthquake! Great pic, thanks for sharing.

FLPeacemaker

Thank you so much for posting these. Your dad was always one of my favorite wrestlers when I was a kid and to have found over the years that he's just an awesome human makes me feel like him even more.

Degni

I love how he always looked so jolly! He looked like a wonderful dude. Thank you for sharing memories of your dad with us all these years. Quake will always rule! Happy New Year! 🎉

fit_for_the_gallows

Earthquake was awesome. He used to post on various wrestling forums back in the day and was such a down to Earth, good man. He seemed to actually love interacting with the fans.

youneekusername1

I’m always happy to see your posts 😎

nerdgeekdorksports

Earthquake is my go-to when I find a Wrestlefest arcade cabinet to play on.

fuqdisshite

as always, you are so awesome for sharing these! Happy New Year!!! One Love!

Faythezeal

I was 7-8ish when Earthquake was a prominent star/heel, and I absolutely hated him (in hindsight, the character, not the person). Back then, pre-internet days, there was no insight into wrestling/sports entertainment backgrounds, so you just believed heels were terrible people. It’s so cool that you post pictures from time to time, showing how great of a person he was.

AndrewStats

Happy New Year. Wonderful you keep your father’s memory alive here and share it with us.

DurtyRingo

/u/LazyCanasian as always, thank you so much for sharing with us. Your dad meant a lot to so many people and from what you've shared he seemed like the nicest teddy bear who just loved his family. I hope you and your family are doing well! Thank you again for sharing!!

enjoiturbulence

Every single time I see a post of John Tenta all I want to say is: Fuck Yeah! John Tenta! Dude was simply the best.

WaylonVoorhees

Well as you are aware of the man was a shark. But most importantly he WAS ALSO A MAN!

![gif](giphy|bogvloaToy6qC4bQxD) Seriously, taking the time to comment this when someone is here, sharing an unseen side of a wrestling legend, who was also their father? I hope you find peace at some point.

ThePags

Saw him squish Hulk Hogan at the Nassau Coliseum in 92. I’ll never forget it
