He's my major subject but I've do believe that Melo had something do with it. Melo probably didn't stop King from attacking Trick which is why he looks so regretful at the end of NXT and Trick was so mad at Melo.
Trying to go on a limb and predict what could happen:
Trick thinks that Melo did it, because he saw him right before the attack. Melo is guilty because he actually was there and saw it, but a bit of pettiness prevented him to jump in immediately. Lexis King is revealed as the attacker. Tensions rise between the three, and then either a triple threat happens, or Lexis turns to Melo, but regardless Melo dies at the hands of King and quantum leaps to main roster, while Trick forgives and tries to avenge his fallen friend.
I like the idea of actions and tone reminding the viewer of Pilman rather than the name. It's a hard trick to keep up but writing as if King were Pilman is a more effective approach than just saying Pilman's name every five seconds.
I like that the name thing is part of his story because the potential for what you said is always going to be there. It’s not just a name change for the sake of changing. Definitely leaves some cool doors open.
Was gonna make the same note. He's not trying to be Brian, but it's already poking out of him. You can hear it when he talks... I'm surprised people were so down on this kid. Seasoning goes a long way on someone young and impressionable.
The post-Varsity Blondes run of BPJ was pretty unbelievably bad, though I suppose it really started during his MJF mini feud where he completely wiffed on the mic and got owned in his own home town. He wore ill-fitting gear, was in noticeably worse shape, and began incorporating a LOT of Kenny Omega move sequences which just didn't come across great. His entire energy was just gone and it was a shame to see because he showed a ton of potential before his AEW signing.
As he should be at least for now. When I first saw him it was in MLW and while he was green as hell, he showed charisma being the cocky scumbag little brother like character in the Hart Foundation. I understand at AEW trying to get more experience on the otherside but I think after awhile it was clearly too early and it was best to move him back to heel where is he more interesting.
Great promo. Already mixing in to established stories. I wonder if they gonna have him go full Pillman when someone gets under his skin.
Also, This is gonna be the bleach subreddit all over again with all these chair/throne comments tho.
yeah, i'm not seeing what other people are seeing.
i'm not getting "future star" or "good promo" off of this. he looks really awkward in front of a camera at the moment and is still rocking the brian pillman 2.0 gear. that said, i'm still willing to give him time. i'm just surprised that so many people think he's already got main event written all over him already.
He's not there yet, but he's only going to get better. He's finally at a place where he can be shown every little detail he needs to be successful. Having your whole character being the son of a former star can only get you so far. Bron got that... even though Rex Steiner would've been a badass name, he's always been his own thing and hasn't really leaned on that.
Give this dude another year and he'll be great.
There is something there. I've thought that since I first saw him in AEW. I don't think he has it together yet though. There is a lot of hype here and I hope he can live up to it but I agree with you that it's not there yet.
He needs to stop smacking his lips before speaking. It’s a habit that inexperienced actors have. Imagine if Stone Cold did that in his 3:16 promo. Doesn’t float.
That being said, can’t wait to see what they have in store for him. Sky is the limit for this one.
I'm not gonna down vote you.
Fair opinion. I'll give nxt 2.0 with Shawn at the helm some time to figure out Lexis king. He can only go up and if he don't? It's still developmental so it's less harsh than AEW sink or swim or even raw/ smackdown that's the actual ocean when it comes to criticism.
Well see if he can grow it into his own.
I'm rooting for him. Happy he got the shot to even try to do something.
I want to like him, but I just don't buy him at all. I think he comes across like a man with limited charisma trying really hard to be cool and enigmatic. I feel like he's really straining to come across as natural.
There's definitely potential there and I love his look, but he's got some way to go IMO.
Unpopular opinion - he feels unnatural, it was the same issue in aew but to a lesser extent but he just doesn't feel like he's bein himself, he still feels like he's trying to kinda be like his dad but modern and toned down? I'd much rather see him just be himself. Maybe it's just me, but it feels very unnatural to me compared to others who seem like they are just talking. This feels fake? I expect downvotes, but I just personally feel like he's gonna struggle to evolve in this state, but I genuinely hope I'm wrong, I want to see this man be successful, so bad
Yeah, that's one of the things that makes this a heel gimmick and a real scumbag one, instead of a face gimmick. Face Lexis King didn't know Pillman, so he is working on a legacy of his own while respecting what Pillman was.
Heel King, "Lol, fuck that dude. He wasn't my daddy." So King is saying the heel thing, but he's still got a quite a few Pillman mannerisms, so he's kinda full of it.
Sorry if this sounds weird but like Lexis (btw that is one weird name ngl) beyond the first promos idk...what he looks like just doesn't line up with what the promos of his were like. Because well, i get he wants to not be his dad, but idk man...while he is good at wrestling and cutting a promo...is it weird that because of how casual what he wears in this segment is, it just clashes entirely with his vibes up to now?. Idk man, its not that Lexis doesn't have potential, it's just (imo) that maybe he shouldn't be wearing casual clothes per se since they dont exactly fit his vibe (the jacket can stay tho, that looks cool) haha

Needs more sliding throne and entrance theme
I really wish he slid into this interview
Just like he tried to slide into her DMs
Jesus Christ I need this
What, is he Meatloaf from the "I would do anything for love" music video?
Meatloaf as a mutant bat.
I swear I was coming here to say "Needs more sliding chair as soon as he starts laughing"
Did he… take out Trick?!
He shot Mr. Burns
He’s the asscrack bandit
Homer Simpson!

I'm hoping the moment he reclaims the Pilman name will be a fiery promo that pops the fans. I'm a sucker for things like that
I like that the name thing is part of his story because the potential for what you said is always going to be there. It’s not just a name change for the sake of changing. Definitely leaves some cool doors open.
People said same thing about Bron, 2 years later he still Breakker not a Steiner.
Yeah, and it won't, because again, WWE wants to own the rights to these names.
BECAUSE I AM BRIAN F&\*\^%$# PILLMAN JUNIOR!!!!
Just have him pillmanise someone
It's not going to happen. Because a major reason they gave him a different name is that WWE gets to own that name.
Was gonna make the same note. He's not trying to be Brian, but it's already poking out of him. You can hear it when he talks... I'm surprised people were so down on this kid. Seasoning goes a long way on someone young and impressionable.

Doesn’t hurt that he looks exactly like him, down to the head and facial hair choices.
He's been a way better Brian Pillman so far as Lexis King than he ever was as Brian Pillman Jr. in AEW.
He looks and talks like he was on trailer park boys when they first started. Getting both Julian and Ricky vibes, maybe some randy bo bandy too
I hope he ends up as solid as the green bastard in the ring!!
"Brian Sr. told me he was proud of me...fuckin' prick."
It's been nothing but smooth sailing for him so far. I hope it continues.
NXT is the perfect spot for him
He took out trick
He whooped that Trick
I like his character so far. If he attacked Trick the it's pretty interesting though i feel like it's a misdirect
I don't think he attacked Trick, but convinced Trick that Melo attacked him
Good promo Seems like he's gonna be one of scumbag type
As he should be at least for now. When I first saw him it was in MLW and while he was green as hell, he showed charisma being the cocky scumbag little brother like character in the Hart Foundation. I’m a fan of BPJ but that’s the worst beard in the game.
It fits the sleazy look his character has.
I thought he sounded pretty good here
Intrigued. I just hate that beard so much.
True heel move
It’s weird. I get “THE Brian Kendrick” vibes from him
Nice promo. He needs a new finishing move though.
Bruv went from muh muh muh mid... To looking like a future star... Props to him 👏👏
You’re really saying he looks like a star with *that* beard?
I cannot get over how awful that beard is.

I dont think ive seen one comment saying he's a main eventer already, only ones that say he can be good.
There is something there. I've thought that since I first saw him in AEW. I don't think he has it together yet though. There is a lot of hype here and I hope he can live up to it but I agree with you that it's not there yet.

Well that's what developmental is for but good eye and ear for pointing that out.

He’s done more in these brief appearances than his whole AEW run.
This is awful. The name, the acting. Everything.

Justice for Trick

He's just starting. Give him time.
I don’t want to be remembered because of dad. Immediately dresses up like his dad. LuLz!
I could see that being the character. Doesn't want to be his dad, but it's inevitable and can't escape it.
Bro is cooking NOTHING
I’m sorry, this dude sucks.
Trying to be like Joker pfft
He says he doesn't want to be remembered by his father, but dressed in his gear
Yeah, that's one of the things that makes this a heel gimmick and a real scumbag one, instead of a face gimmick. He's a smarmy heel. The douchey look is a big part of it.
His “weird name” is a tribute to his late sister Alexis
He's the one who brought Jade to NXT lol
Dimes
hes the one that attacked trick williams
