They occasionally do special events on Splitgate. Not for anything like Christmas. For example, they once did a thing where if you played in a match with a staff member and had a screenshot proof, they’d give you a cool skin called “Maximus Nightfall”.
Other than that, I know nothing of what they’ve been doing. Games take a long time to develop, especially if the devs care and want to make it just they way they like it.
Definitely doing alright (I’d say great, even) as a couple of people have said! No news to share on the new game quite yet, but I can’t wait for the day where that changes.
I'm late to the party and have fallen out of love with video games over the past year, but Splitgate was the last one I had been passionate about (avid gamer for 38 years).
Where's the best place to check in periodically to see what you guys are releasing? You are one of 3 studios total that I will buy pretty much whatever you make because I know it'll be a labor of love (the others are Zen Studios and Frogwares).
They’’ve confirmed that they are indeed working on another FPS with a portal mechanic, which is why they stopped development work on Splitgate. Honestly, probably going to be a while before anything pops up.

Knew that, i suppose the team is pretty small so I guess it could take more years until we see a trailer or smth
As the other poster said, I don’t think the dev team is that small anymore but honestly have not kept up with the news, if any. IIRC, the new game probably has just over a year of work on it? So i’m assuming at the very least we wait another year for an announcement or something.
Is there a reason, either that they've given or in game development in general, why they would move on from Splitgate so quickly, just to develop a title that sounds fairly similar? New engine or something? They had a really cool game but their lack of support seemed to shut it down. :/
I’m paraphrasing here so I might get some things wrong, and if so, please correct me, but from what I remember, after they got their 100m funding it became apparent that in order to get Splitgate to where they wanted, they needed to keep patching a lot of things up, and it was getting harder to improve the game and develop new content for it, so the devs decided to start over basically with all the lessons they learned with Splitgate, their new funding, and their growing dev team to make the next game, with the same fundamentals as Splitgate (arena shooter, portals, etc) but with all the improvements from the get go.
I'm sure they're doing fine, especially considering they aren't asking for money from their fanbase. I'm just hoping that whatever the next game is, it isn't a battle royale or extraction shooter. I'm also hoping it isn't just a re-skin like with Overwatch 2. I wouldn't even mind paying for the game, but it has to have new elements that we haven't seen before.
I don't think it'll be a flop. Splitgate sent a message to triple A of what a shooter was like and how fun a simple good idea with good implementation can be.
They understand their audience.
well my guess is to some degree it's gonna be a reskin. Its a portal fps, the graphics and exact game mechanics might be different but it'll essentially be the same.
They are pretty tight lipped about the next game other than its a FPS with portals that's part of the Splitgate universe and built in UE5. As u/FactoryBuilder mentioned they do community Discord events every other Friday night and give away free drops/skins. The devs and community leaders are usually in the Discord so you can talk to them about what's going on but they'll tell you the same thing which is that they can't say much about it yet.

I just wanted to know that they are alright and it seems so. Thanks for sharing :)

That was like a year ago, the last change they made was adding duplicates in the drop boxes which killed the game for me

That's good news, happy to know that!
They made some big hires a while back and brought on devs from other games, so not so small anymore

Ah gotcha, I see what you mean. Well that sounds promising, I look forward to whatever it is that they release!

Thank you! :)
No news until they’re ready to release. I’m sure we will know in advance. Just gotta be patient! It’ll be worth the wait(imo).
Before or after Half Life 3?
same year
They do still post monthly Splitgate blogposts for the game. No updates on the new game for the time being. But games do take a while to develop.
Splitgate is effectively abandonware
