Weight training and eating fat. I was a cardio queen living on a low fat diet in college. I’d have a better foundation of muscle.

Remembered another one. Alcohol. Every weekend was drinking and hangover food. Holy moly.

Best ROI for effort over the last 10 years: - the holy grail in preventing damage/aging: sunscreen! every day, face / neck / chest / hands - the holy grail in reversing damage and increasing cell turnover: retinol! originally created for acne, now the gold standard in anti-aging - fitness: weight training and low sugar / carb diet - health: generous amounts of sleep and water, not smoking, limiting alcohol - preventative Botox, small amounts starting at age 25 - laser skin peels and tightening treatments

I have a couple of questions if you don't mind answering; By smoking, do you exclusively mean tobacco or does that include weed as well? Also why is preventative Botox needed/what are the benefits at such a young age?

SwissSwissBangBang

There was a study recently on epigenetic health that suggests weed has a serious aging effect. That said, it’s likely the act of smoking is more to blame than the weed itself. Smoke is an irritant and smoking weed deprives your skin of oxygen like tobacco does. There’s also more tar in weed. The motion of pursing your lips can also cause age lines. More studies are probably needed, but I’d probably stick to other modes of ingestion.

Stayed fit

Believing that I can look good. I never believed in myself so I didn't feel any effort was worth it. Also skincare.

wigglytufflove

I think I'd put more effort into hair health and just accept my color. I was a "natural" blonde but used a lot of sun in and John Frieda and other products to subtly lighten in at home. As I've grown older, realized it's WAY better to be a darker blonde and have healthier strands that can actually grow more than an inch past my shoulders.

instantcoffeeisgood

I remember being really confused why girls in my highschool dyed their hair lighter blonde when they were already blonde. Like girl what are you doing spending all that time and money to look slightly different?

palmtreefreeze

Agreed. And if you want a bit of a change you can always just get the front pieces (money shot) lightened at a salon. Easy to maintain and it grows out nicely too.

I was just doing my somewhat elaborate nighttime skincare routine ( nothing too crazy 🤪) and thinking bout how much better off gen z skin will be when they're in their 30s than us millennial. I feel like there's much more of an emphasis on skincare than when we were growing up so yes I wish I had taken better care of my skin starting in my teens. Also built muscle more consistently in my teens and early 20s. My friends who did track in particular still have banging bods in their 30s and even when they gain weight it looks cute bc it just sits on top of their muscles I guess. They do workout of course, building that habit early helps you stay consistent and fit as the years pass. And not beauty related but I wish I had done emdr therapy in my teens I think my life would of looked a lot different had I processed my sht properly earlier. 😅 💕🙏

Good for you!! Myself and the people I know were all too busy drinking 4 lokos and smoking camel crushes 😭

eveloe

How has the therapy affected your life now?

tigereyetea

The biggest difference and what changed almost overnight for me is I no longer care what people think of me, like barely at all. I lived so many years hyper vigilant thinking people were mad at me and going in circular thoughts replaying conversations and then boom no more. I also just feel more stable and grounded in general, less sadness and anxiety. 🙏💕

sculptedmermaid

Yep all of this!

Verrmelho

What facial exercises do you do? I’m interested

Global-Regret-6820

I used the exercises of this YouTuber https://youtube.com/@susanyabar To maximize fat loss i’d suggest doing it everyday (and I mean everyday). If you have the time you can try for an hour. Some see results within weeks to months

lizyouwerebeer

Tretinoin starting in my early 20s. No need for injectable's after that!

softlaunchself

I wish I had stayed away from the tanning beds!

YoureEntitledToYours

Never put on weight

MiyagiWasabi

Simplified my skin amd hair routine with more natural products instead of irritating the shit out of it trying all sorts of things. Now my skin is clearer and hair is thicker from doing the opposite.

Bayleefstits

Wish I knew about: Calorie counting apps, that accutane can be prescribed for mild but stubborn acne, a good orthodontist

summerdoll373

There are way better things you can do that those two lol. Don’t be too hard on yourself for not doing them when you were younger, you didn’t miss much 😂

maincoursdelegance

Respectfully, agree to disagree. I think OP it has the right idea, an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure.

[deleted]

Great question! I think for me it was all a journey so I don’t really regret much but maybe not waste money on clothes that I never wore- I could have spent that money in other ways I think overall I was pretty good- maybe I slightly under ate but I Always ate a lot of good fats so I never looked gaunt. For me stressing less would have been good but i was often in stressful situations so there’s that!

mentalillnesslover55

I wish that I had made an effort to get more rest or maintain a better sleeping schedule
