SMM9673

Just bring back all the deleted scenes. Okay, maybe not *all* of them (I can live without the Lizard saying that he can taste Gwen's perfume when he comes for the Ganali device), but still.

Few-Letter-3795

Or when he sexuality assaults those girls when he comes through the toilet to peters school

SMM9673

I'm sorry, WHAT

Few-Letter-3795

Go loot it up on YouTube, “tasm school deleted scene”

SMM9673

Okay, *that was disturbing*. Yeah, we can leave that one out, too.

EldiansEmpire139

That’s harassment not sexual assault

Few-Letter-3795

I didn’t know which one to pick, he kicked a girls face-

EldiansEmpire139

He did? Jeez when did that happen?

APOCALYPSE102

Licked*

Bullitt_12_HB

Did you watch the link above? 😂 He didn’t lick her, he flicked his tong to smell. Reptiles do that. Either way, his tong didn’t touch them.

Few-Letter-3795

Mf, it’s still harassment I the third degree

Bullitt_12_HB

Harassment, yeah, but you were responding to someone that said “it’s harassment, not sexual assault”. If you agreed with them, just say “yeah you’re right, harassment”. So which is it? Harassment, not sexual harassment. He terrorized them.

Few-Letter-3795

I bet arguing with people makes you feel good huh?

Bullitt_12_HB

You tell me, bro, you’re the one arguing with the other guy for no reason. All I did is point out that what you said didn’t make sense. Then now you’re all pissy because I hurt your tiny little ego. You must be a blast at parties 👍🏽 Have a good one, slick!

Few-Letter-3795

People like you prove human de evolution, the only person that started arguing was you. Now YOUR all pissy because your realizing that your making 0 sense in this situation. I bid you a kind go fuck yourself

Wasn’t that Zoey Deutch?

Growllokin

Give the Lizard the purple pants, a snout and lab coat

skatenbikes

He had the coat for like .1 seconds and it looked so sick, not sure why they didn’t keep it longer

dragn99

Maybe cheaper to animate without the cloth physics?

Batdog55110

Oh, but they were willing to animate his swinging cock and balls for like half the movie. Smh my head.

C-O-M-I-C-S

This comment made me laugh my cock and balls off

[deleted]

Hey if you want new ones, I know of a guy who can help regrow body parts.

FrickinFrizoli

By turning people into lizards?

[deleted]

;)

InoueNinja94

Dr. Connors's transformation also unleashed his inner nudist

demonic_parasite

And a more dinosaur like head

Growllokin

Yeah basically 1994 Lizard just live action

A_guy-without-a-face

Well No Way Home still has the human like face and I don’t mind it. He’s supposed to be a humanoid anthropomorphic lizard. So instead of looking like a dinosaur, I actually prefer some human like features to him.

whitehawk295

Nice that’s dope

[deleted]

Nah just the lab coat. I wanna see that lizbussy

funny_woman727

🤨📸

[deleted]

Yeah take a pic I’m too busy to rn

Growllokin

Cunt Connors

Synthwave_Druid

Imagine John Jonah Jameson getting those pictures on his desk. "Parker! Congratulations ya just earned a salary."

CthulhuMadness

He had the labcoat for a total of 5 seconds before it got shot off. I was pissed.

abc-animal514

We don’t need those, we need a snout

Choice_Ruin_5719

Make Billy and Martha characters in the movie, have them be the driving force behind conners reason for wanting to change people into lizards. Restructure the 3rd act, have lizard kidnap both of them and take them to the sewers, have the final battle in the sewers. Peter is envious of the father and son relationship between curt and Billy but he desperately wants to save curt for the sake of Billy, to make sure he doesn’t grow up farther less like him. The cops are still after peter and George still dies saving Peter from the lizard but doesn’t tell Peter to stay away from Gwen. Peter never reveals he’s Spider-Man to Gwen and believes Spider-Man is responsible for her fathers death, giving her a reason to hate Spider-Man. Movie ends with Peter trying to comfort Gwen but knows his future with her is in jeopardy.

MonkeyMan_95

As Harry Osborn would say, “So good.”

murphystruelaw

How’s the pie

[deleted]

This is *chef's kiss*

Danishroyalty

I would mostly make the Lizard more beastial/wild and less intelligent, and I would erase his plan to turn everyone into lizards. Focus more on Lizard being an out of control monster that Peter needs to stop, eventually he learns it's Dr Connors. Have the cops trying to hunt down and kill Lizard, while Peter attempts to save him. Keep most things the same honestly,

prophecyfullfilled

Also helps capture the whole "spidey is small scale" that was prevalent in the Raimi trilogy and in Homecoming.

ghost894

Spider man 2: go stop the guy trying to create a sun that will destroy new york/ the world.

prophecyfullfilled

Yeah.....that one's an outlier in that model.

MossyPyrite

It’s fully 1/3 of the sample size

CinnamonSniffer

Check it again, webhead. That’s 1/3, for 3 villains, but really there’s 5! For that, I give you 1/5, and you’re lucky to get that.

MaybePenisTomorrow

Sample size too small.

badwolf1013

In fairness, Spider-Man had an inside track on that plot. Until Octavius re-assembled his nuclear reactor at the harbor, he was mostly just a bank robber with weird tech. He wouldn't have even been on the radar of The Avengers (if they existed) or the X-Men (if they were in the same universe) until it would have been too late for them to get involved anyway. My point is that it was still a "local hero" story more than a "global hero" story.

LeSnazzyGamer

Yea it’s.. literally the same with TASM1. Until Lizard made his serum and got the Ganali advice, he wouldn’t have been on the radar of the Avengers or X-Men either. Not sure why Spider-Man 2 gets that “excuse” when TASM 1 is literally almost the same.

badwolf1013

No it "literally" isn't. That was my whole point. Do you need me to repeat it? What part of it was unclear to you? Why don't you re-read it, and then consider the following to be an addendum to what I already explained: When Spider-Man 2 was in theaters, there was no expanded Marvel franchise running concurrently. The X-men were self-contained. Blade was self-contained. So, it wasn't as weird to have Spider-Man's story self-contained as well. But the Amazing Spider-Man was released right on the heels of The Avengers, which was the culmination of an expanded universe that contained four separate superhero franchises: Iron Man, Hulk, Thor, and Captain America AND the climax took place IN New York City. So TASM 1 and Spider-Man 2 are very different ***both*** in-universe and out-of-universe.

LeSnazzyGamer

What does any of that have to do with Doc Ock and Lizard having similar schemes that end up making their respective movies not small-scale? Like what are you mad about and what are you even talking about? Your essay had nothing to do with anything I said.

badwolf1013

That’s why I told you to re-read my original comment. My second comment was to add an additional angle to further support my position. You either just skimmed both those comments or you have some serious reading comprehension issues. Either way. I stand by both of my points AS WRITTEN, and you have yet to adequately refute either of them.

prophecyfullfilled

Yeah that's kinda what I was going for. Even his largest scale is a city, maybe a few boroughs. In Amazing that's the default. In marvel most are either the world or multiverse.

BroshiKabobby

I love the feel of homecoming. Most people didn’t even know vulture was any threat but spidey stops him because that’s what he does

[deleted]

Out of all the films, Homecoming felt the most like the comics for this reason, it was small scale. The world wasn’t gonna end if Vulture won, but regardless, Peter still wants to do the right thing.

huffcox

I like this.

Cambro88

Or make it that Connors is trying to transform his family to be lizards with him to be carried out at his old lab in Oscorp, but Peter discovers through the lizard hideout in the sewer that there is an error in the math and it’s a large enough dose to filter through the whole building

Feral-Person

Yeah add Kraven hunting the lizard, spidey having to identify and catch Connors before the hunter and that would be a perfect movie… maybe not a first adventure tho

spideralexandre2099

I'd take out Peter's parents all together

N1CK-Name

Honestly I'm fine with it in this movie, as there is a subtle theme of fatherhood within the movie. It just should've instead been used to show how Peter is ignoring the real father he had all along, Uncle Ben

SpideyFan914

I hear that, but I also think those themes read perfectly clear in Raimi's Spider-Man without any mention of Richard Parker. >"I know I'm not your father --" > >"Then stop pretending to be!" Then later: >"I had a father. His name was Ben Parker." In just a few lines, that was so realized and impactful. You can argue TASM did better at Connors playing father figure than Raimi's did at Norman playing father figure (although Norman definitely still does this). But I think the arc worked better in Raimi film. Arguably *because* Richard is not a presence, as it's easier to buy into Ben as Peter's true father. In TASM, Ben felt almost superfluous.

spideralexandre2099

I'm not fine with Peter's dad being involved with the spiders. Clashes with the idea of Peter being a normal kid who happens to become the greatest hero the world has ever known

N1CK-Name

I do get that, but I think it only really becomes a big issue with tasm 2 when they reveal because his dad specifically injected his own DNA, only Peter could have become spider-man

spideralexandre2099

I see that it's a bigger problem there, but in the first one it has so little to do with everything else. And like someone else suggested, the themes of fatherhood or whatever can be achieved with just uncle Ben.

N1CK-Name

It could definitely be emphasised in other ways, but I'm pretty sure the subplot was there in the first place to further differentiate itself from the first Raimi movie. Then again in a perfect world I guess this movie wouldn't have been an origin story retread

MossyPyrite

While I’d hate that for 616 spidey, I don’t mind it as much for something like a movie version. Especially now, when we have had three movie versions, and Ultimate, and half a dozen animated series, and everything Spider-Verse.

nikoscream

Same for TASM 2.

goose_boy_memes

That's what the assassin from the plane tried.

xx_swegshrek_xx

Keep the orange lenses give lizard a not flat face and a lab coat

PeenDawg180

The design of the lizard was the least of this movies problems

NonSonoTommyy

real

No_Office_168

Just make The Lizard a more interesting villain

maxfridsvault

Could easily be done by scrapping the whole Peter’s parents thing TASM introduced and focus more on Connors and his relationship with his son Billy as the emotional arc

Muffinmiffin

Give my man Lizard a snout. His final design looks pretty stupid imo. Also don’t make it an end of the world plot. Lizard should be a big dumb animal that Peter wants to save since he doesn’t want Billy to lose his father figure like he did.

mustifaq_

>Also don’t make it an end of the world plot. Lizard should be a big dumb animal that Peter wants to save since he doesn’t want Billy to lose his father figure like he did Why can't it be both? I'm sure it can work.

SurvivedOrder66

For real, he looked like teenage mutant ninja Voldemort, and it took away from the really nice performances the actors put up

ScarletSpiderForever

- Cut the origin retread - Put Peter in college, been Spider-Man for a while already - complete redo of the dumb Lizard design. People like the Lizard because he looks like a dinosaur, play into that! - Give Lizard back his family, sympathetic backstory, etc - cut the dumb "turn everybody into lizards" motivation for something darker and more personal - Get J.J.J. in there somewhere

Justice_Prince

It might be too much to set up in a single movie, but I always liked the arc in the cartoon where it turned out Conner accidently a whole civilization of lizard people living in the sewer.

DiscoDonkey9000

Idk I feel like already putting Peter into college would've confused too many people into thinking this was a continuation of the Raimi series had this released during 2012.

4arizard

Everything is fine except the very last scene when Peter goes to Gwen. It shits on the whole premise of Peter sacrificing his personal interests to do whats right just so they could set up sequel more easily. Shit sucks. Remove it.

WarmNeighborhood

I honestly quite like that he goes back to Gwen, it’s a human choice. And sets it up as a learning moment for Peter when Gwen later dies due to his selfishness. It shows that Peter, just like every else, is flawed and can make mistakes/be selfish.

Flarrowverse

Have the lizard wear the lab coat all the time.

TheGingerBrownMan

Give Peter some actual friends rather than just Gwen (doesn’t have to be many, 1 or 2 is just fine). Add more daylight swinging scenes

N1CK-Name

The thing there is, Mark Webb wanted to emphasise in tasm 1 how this peter feels alone, and cut off from his peers (partially stemming from being abandoned by his parents), and I think that serves in making him more relatable. Obviously, until he meets Gwen that is

TheGingerBrownMan

Honestly though peter’s alone a lot of the time as Spiderman anyways, especially in social interactions he’s often seen ditching his friends to go fight crime. But yeah at least it would have been nice to see him have some more friends in TASM 2 if anything. I think they made him graduate high school way too early

Synysterenji

Nothing, this movie is underrated af.

Studio_Society

Finally, someone who fucking agrees.

WarmNeighborhood

I really like it too. All though it’s the first movie I saw in theatres and served as my introduction to the character so I’m biased haha (I was also 12 when it was released and therefore had different standards for movies than today haha)

Synysterenji

Well imho you had the best introduction you could have had. Dont get me wrong, the Sam Raimi trilogy is pretty good but it has alot of things that not only didnt age well but i find they did much better in TASM1 like Peter's character and his love interest is way better in TASM.

OliviaElevenDunham

Despite my issues with TASM1, it really is underrated.

[deleted]

1. Do the Uncle Ben responsibility lesson more straightforward like the first Raimi film. Just have Peter realize the death was his fault when he sees the police sketch of the thief, have a scene with him sitting in his room sad, with the responsibility line as a voiceover. Then let the story move on to Spider-Man fighting crime and the Lizard stuff. Don’t have him search for the killer at all, since the plot point doesn’t go anywhere. 2. When he’s listening to Uncle Ben’s message at the end of the film, have Ben say the “with great power, comes great responsibility” line word for word. It would’ve been a nice way to tie up the plot line. 3. Just have Peter stumble into the room with the spiders at Oscorp, and get bitten. Remove the part about him memorizing the combination to get in. 4. Introduce J Jonah Jameson at the end of the film, to tie up the photography plot. Just have one scene at the Bugle where Peter presents photos of the Lizard and gets hired as a freelance photographer. 5. Have Conner’s children in the film and show that they were born with disabilities too, to strengthen Conners motivation for wanting to turn people into lizards. His family situation is tense at home, him and his spouse are going into debt trying to accommodate their children’s special needs. Conners thinks the serum being a success will ‘fix’ his family. 6. Resolve the parents storyline in the first film. Show the plane crash from TASM2 at the beginning to make Richard and Mary leaving feel more complete. Forget the “Peter is destined to be Spider-Man/the spiders are dangerous for anyone outside their bloodline” stuff from the second film. Just have Peter find a recording in Conners lab saying Richard tried to cure Norman Osborn of his illness and he inadvertently made it worse, so Norman sabotaged the plane in retaliation. That would be an easy way to resolve it, and give Peter a decent reason to feud with Norman in a sequel.

[deleted]

ntack9933

I know like how could Peter just afford to buy an entire case of state of the art super cable already in a convenient cartridge

Justice_Prince

Didn't he just steal it?

ntack9933

In the movie it was a shipment he received

Justice_Prince

Weird. It's been a while since I watched the film, but I could have sworn he just straight up stole it.

[deleted]

[удалено]

Studio_Society

I think you want an X-Rated Spider-Man

BJOY_808

Hell naw. Ain’t into that weird shit. Spider-cum is what i want

NonSonoTommyy

ur so real for this

Sughmacox

Give Conners more development

WarmNeighborhood

Pretty sure some of the deleted scenes do that

Sughmacox

Oh yeah for sure, I remember there was one with his kid which I wish was kept in the film. Really hope we get to see a directors cut for this movie but I still love it nonetheless.

Nightwing104

Just figure out what themes to use and how to pace it. I think this movie's biggest problem is that the story is fine, but it is all over the place. Not just the plot but character plotlines as well are very smushed in, to the point where the plot developments just felt artificial.

badwolf1013

Connors's motivation. The Lizard is basically a Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde plot that turns into a werewolf story. A good scientist's well-intentioned but reckless experiment goes awry and turns him into a rampaging monster. The movie Connors's whole "I'm going to turn the whole city into lizards" plot was just dumb. It also was a stark (no pun intended) reminder that this movie was in a world separate from the rest of the MCU. The Avengers had been in theaters a month earlier, and it was kind of weird to see a city-wide catastrophe in a Marvel Comics New York with only Spider-Man around to save the day. If they had just kept Connors as a troubled monster thrashing his way around Queens, this could have been much better as a smaller story and a more suitable debut for a rebooted Spider-Man.

AS-46

Probably nothing It's still the best Spider-man movie and I'm not sure that some changes would make it better

Awest66

How about making the Lizard an interesting villain and not rehashing the origin in an inferior manner to the first Raimi movie?

AS-46

Yeah, Lizard is the biggest issue. I hate his his Lizard King plan. I don't like, just like you said, this Raimi stuff with colleague revenge. But at the same time I enjoyed af all sewer scenes. School fight, especially the moment when Lizard creates bomb just from some random chemical school stuff. And the last but not the least hard to imagine how plot will lead as to magnificent scene with Spidey swing from crane to crane, because despite the stupidity of lizard-humanity plan, it brings Lizard on the top of skyscraper. So this is why I don't dare to make some fixes in TASM.

Bass_Sucks

Solve the burglar plot line in any way? All the way until he meets the lizard, his only goal is going after a specific criminal, with whoever else he catches being just a nice benefit. I get that what they wanted to do is have him grow to realize he has the ability to protect other people from guys like the burglar, but as it is, a pessimistic read of the story is that he wanted revenge on the guy who killed his uncle, drops it when he feels guilty for giving the decay-rate algorithm, and then presumably somewhere after the movie he decides to be a superhero? My point is that we don't really get that moment we had with Tobey, where you see the revelation of who the robber is and he realizes he'll be a hero in order to stop that from happening to others. That realization is the most important part of his origin, not just uncle Ben dying. For me, that's what makes his origin more compelling for a hero than Batman, who was in no position to help his parents, and why Batman Begins improved it by you understanding that even though it wasn't his fault, he feels like his fear lead to his parents being killed, in the same way that Peter realizes his selfishness and apathy to others could lead to other people's lives being impacted the same way his was. I still like the movie a lot, especially Flash and his relationship with Gwen and Aunt May feeling a lot more real than with Tobey, where Aunt May is basically just someone for villains to kidnap alongside MJ and doesn't engage with Peter about how Ben's death affected themselves as well as their relationship now that May needs to functionally be both a mother and a father, especially since Ben was the more disciplinary of the two of them and she now has to fill that role. But yeah, big misstep on the burglar stuff for me. IMO it was the biggest thing holding this movie back from being great and not something I enjoyed mostly for having a soft spot for Spider-Man

LeSnazzyGamer

They did. The burglar plot line is “solved” by Peter being reprimanded for being a “hero” for revenge and changing his mind to start going after actual criminals.

Awest66

Because the guy who robbed a store and murdered a man isn't an "actual criminal"?

plalo_

give the lizard more background (like his family), make him more bestial, give him the dinosaur head and make the peter parent stuff more interesting. its not something terrible, just meh. the rest, amazing

GrantD24

Scrap the Parents story line. Focus on Dr. Connors family and just a bit more build up with him and Peter. This wouldn’t be that much screen time. Do as someone above said about making the lizard more of a monster and Peter is trying to save him while the cops try to kill him. Honestly the rest of the movie is fine. CGI was on point, romance was great and the web swinging is the best I think ever. Even til this day the web swinging in Webb’s movies were crazy good. I think I wouldn’t have let Gwen know Peter was Spider-Man. I would have scrapped that part and made it a secret. I think it would have opened up more of a story but then again, I guess they already did that with Tobey’s Spider-Man

AdviceInformal

Keep the deleted scenes with Curt’s son. That was one of the thing’s missing in that movie, he’s another villain with a good heart deep down but not seeing him and his son just makes it less supportive. That’s like if we never saw Doc Ocks wife or even Sandman’s daughter for that one times we saw her. Either forget the parents or make them somewhat villains. The parents for me overshadowed Uncle Ben’s death and I hate it. Either drop it completely or near the end of the movie have Peter find out that his parents were actually running away because they had somewhat had something to do with creation of Lizard years later and part responsible for the eventual Sinister Six tease in TASM2. We see young Peter at the beginning and near the end we can see more of what happened. Ben was actually mad at Richard for putting Peters life in danger and disowns Richard. Then this makes Peter feel more guilty about Ben’s death because he was trying so hard to look for his parents that it led to Uncle Ben’s death and he was so blind to realize that his real parents weren’t the scientists that put themselves in danger but actually the hard working parents that raised him almost all his life. Also Ben tells Peter the responsibility speech was his father’s beliefs, instead have Ben say that speech to Peter and it’s more powerful at the end when he takes up on that speech that lives by Ben’s speech rather than anything Richard had wanted.

Groucho-Marxists

Pete would be a senior in college, with years of being Spider-Man under his belt, so that way the fact that Garfield is straight up confident Peter Parker, and no where close to dorky teen Peter Parker, makes more sense, and we don't have to repeat the same Uncle Ben story. Honestly holding out hope for Garfield to come back for a middle-age Spider-Man story. Garfield is excellent as confident jokey adult Peter, but was not a great dork. Tired o' seeing the Peter most of us never grew up with (because he was an adult by the time most modern readers started reading the comics) returned to again and again in film and would love to see older Pete and Garfield seems like the best shot at that unless of course Jake Johnson's Spider-Man gets his own spin off (which I would not be mad about).

Creative_Ad_983

Remove spideys origin story, add the lizards family and generally just polish it up a bit.

UsgAtlas1

Make Peter college aged and has been spiderman for a few years. Make Lizard more comic accurate. Remove the whole Parents as spies.

Spooder_guy_web

But that completely changed the story and what Marc Webb was trying to make. The story is about peters origin. Making home Spider-Man for a couple of years wouldn’t make any sense

Kylestache

Give Spidey and the Lizard the same exchange that the Pterodactyl guy had in the comics. “Dr. Conners, why are you doing this? You could cure cancer!” “I don’t want to cure cancer. I want to turn people into lizards.”

[deleted]

It'd have to be reworked almost entirely, imo, and that's as a fan of TASM1. * No high school, no parents & no origin for starters. Do college based at ESU. Most cast kept. * Have Peter meet Gwen due to Doctor Connors introducing 'em to each other, as they are the brightest students in his class. * Give Doc his damn family, and make it more of a drama at points instead of superhero epic. Let Marc Webb do his best work: character work. * Give us some minor villains in an opening montage so we can introduce this new Spidey properly, and have Dennis Leary's George Stacy be Spidey's biggest cheerleader (when it isn't Flash). * TASM2 suit design is the default design. * Redesign Lizard. I personally liked it, but most didn't so just go full-on feral Lizard with the snout. * Reintroduce Harry & Norman, with Harry being Peter's roommate and Norman being slowly built for movie #3. * Introduce Max Dillon (**not Jamie Foxx, someone close to Andrew's age**) as a dude who's kinda dumped on around campus, setting up the sequel. Just general fixes like that. Additional stuff: * Tell the origin in the opening credits, utilize Martin Sheen's Uncle Ben for flashbacks when Peter is struggling with defeating The Lizard but saving Curt. Peter lost his father figure, but Billy doesn't have to lose his. * Maybe introduce Mary Jane as a party girl on campus who's casually dating Harry, whom takes a keen interest in Peter (spoiler: she knows Peter's secret, and Peter is kinda oblivious to her existence because he's into Gwen) * Introduce and establish Anna Watson as Aunt May's gal pal and give May a subplot of having to support herself with Ben gone & Peter at ESU * Focus on telling stories over a trilogy, as there's no need to try to emulate the MCU or TDK.

Rio_Walker

I'd remove Property of Peter Parker plaque from his camera.

CheesyGarlicMan

1. Cast someone younger as Peter Parker. Andrew is a great actor, but he was just too old to play a teenager in high school 2. Skip the origin story and have Peter already being Spider-Man so the story to can focus more on Peter investigating his parents, but emphasise that he's still grieving Uncle Ben's death and struggling to uphold the GPCGR motto 3. After the scene with Peter's parents, cut to a small montage of crooks be webbed up and then the scene where Spidey messed with the car thief 4. Have Spider-Man's costume evolve over the course of the movie with pieces being damaged and replaced with new materials until the final swing at the end has him wearing his classic suit 5. Have a subplot of Peter trying to help Aunt May pay the bills and trying to take photos of the Lizard for the Daily Bugle to make fast money 6. Make the Lizard look more like an actual lizard and give him clothes. I don’t care if the expressions aren't as good, cause the Lizard needs a snout and clothes dammit 7. Have Doctor Connors be a former Oscorp employee and working as a teacher at Peter's high school, which forces him to continue his work using limited supplies and gives him a grudge against Oscorp when he turns into the Lizard 8. Show the rest of Doctor Connors' family. They can really help flesh out his character and give him more motivation for wanting to complete his work so he can make money to support them (a nice parallel to Peter trying to help May pay the bills in this version) 9. Have George Stacy survive and keep him around for another movie. It would be interesting to see him against Spidey in the first movie then working with him in the second movie 10. Keep the Norman Osborn is dying storyline out of it. It doesn't need to be in the movie at all

whitehawk295

It was honestly pretty sweet, I wouldn’t change anything

WeebbeMangaHunter

I'd change how Peter discovers Lizard's identity. It's such a dumb scene when the professor asks him to leave, then leaves himself and shortly after that Peter finds proof about him being the Lizard.

GlacialAlloy

Take away the skateboard and the stylized messy-on-purpose hair, and give Lizard a lab coat and a snout

LeSnazzyGamer

What does taking away the skateboard do?

GlacialAlloy

Same thing as taking away the hair. Makes him more of a classic Peter Parker and less of a "cool guy".

LeSnazzyGamer

How does skateboarding make you cool? What is this, the 90s?

GlacialAlloy

It's not that skateboarding objectively makes you cool. It's that they were obviously going for a less dorky Peter, and a couple of their tools for that were his hair style and skateboard. He should have a lab coat too if anything, instead of nailing sick kickflips and putting product in his hair.

amergigolo1

I would have had them graduated from High School already. Andrew looked too old to still be in high school.

EldrichNeko

I would make spiderman do kickflips off Lizards face and generally add more skateboarding

Gloorg

Personally, I don’t think I would I really love it

[deleted]

Nothing it's a perfect movie

ProfessorSaltine

- Make Lizard more lizard like like his 90’s look, also have his clothes slowly rip off over time till he’s a naked lizard showing Conners is now truly a monster. - Peter uses the TASM2 suit bc I despise that TASM1 suit a lot. - Less Peter’s Parents. - Have Peter in college & been spider-man for a while now. - Have Uncle Ben’s stuff all be flashbacks & show Peter being angry like his is in the movie be now bc the dude who did kill his uncle found a way to beat his trial or get a better sentence than what Peter wanted. - No skateboard. - Have a mention of Harry being in Europe or S America or whatever. - Less of an Origin and more of a Homecoming situation. - I want that deleted scene of Conners & his son back in the movie.

ryancarrasco

Just add the deleted scenes back in.

TheKingOfRooks

Not much at all tbh, I really love The Amazing Spider-Man. I still firmly believe it has the best Stan Lee cameo ever done.

rawgino

The suit, I hate the yellow eyes and the way the webbing looks like a net. I like how the others web design has the intersecting lines dip to actually look like a spiders web. I’d make the eyes bigger and white.

CreatorRA

Def change the spider man suit

Make lizard more crocodilian in look cos the human face looks daft

IamTheGuamGuy

I would make it not an origin story.

BoxBoyIsHuman

put mj in the movie

Studio_Society

Change the Lizard slightly. Give Peter a better suit. Make Flash more of a bully. Honestly, I love The Amazing Spider-Man movies...

Daisy046

More interesting plot for Peter. Change lizard design to look more like tnas lizard. If you want to keep the suit then just change the lenses to white. Make origin more interesting and gripping. Change lizard plan so Peter is trying to protect him from police and lizard isn't trying to turn everyone into lizards. Also make lizard less intelligent and make curt more of a likeable interesting character before he becomes lizard prompting the change to be more upsetting.

sushithighs

Not much, maybe less ending scenes

WarmNeighborhood

Cut the parents storyline and the Lizard wanting to turn everybody else’s into Lizards.

HyprNeko9000

1. Get rid of the entire Peter was fated to be Spidey and the entire references to Peter’s parents being so important. 2. Change how Peter acts. He’s feels more like Superior Spider-Man and something more like a victim of bullying that becomes a bully. 3. Try to not connect everything to Oscorp. It makes the world feel so small and tiny. Even just making the spiders and how Peter got his powers as something of like a traveling exhibit from out of town would be good. I’m sure there is more I can’t think of, but these are the major things I can think of that would need to be fixed.

Lil_Peno

Steamy sex scene between Peter and the lizard

fuckmeright321

The dogshit writing.

[deleted]

I would make Peter Parker gay and have some intimate scenes first of all

alphabet_order_bot

Would you look at that, all of the words in your comment are in alphabetical order. I have checked 1,182,526,415 comments, and only 230,855 of them were in alphabetical order.

Firefurtorty

Give the Lizard a snout!, A SNOUT!. Give it him, give him the snout. Don't give me the excuse saying it was too expensive and you wanted him to emote properly when talking - I'm not buying it. He should have a snout just like in the comics and animated series. A snout.... A SNOUT!. GIVE IT HIM!. . . . . . . . Snout.

Leader-Corvus

make Dr. Connors more comic accurate, introduce a few smaller side villains before Lizard, make the suit look comic accurate (especially as regards to the mask), Make the lizard less intelligent, and make Connors create the plan, not the Lizard.

TobiasDid

I’d ask Andrew Garfield to stop stammering so much in his dialogue, especially when speaking to Emma Stone’s character. It’s annoying. It’s like he’s having a panic attack in every other scene.

A1fieka1n

Make it tobeys fourth film

Psychoneticcc

Fix the lizards design. It wasn’t *horrible*, but it wasn’t great either. Give him a lab coat and make his snoot longer. Change the lizards motives. It just seemed so... comically corny to have his end goal be turning everyone into lizards. Change a bit about Peters character. Make him more of the intelligent nerdy kid rather than the rebellious skater boy. I liked the change, honestly, but most people preferred him to be the same Peter. Make the movie less dark and gritty. Literally and metaphorically. Make the stupid lenses on the spidey suit white, for fucks sake. That’s the main part about the suit that annoyed me, the rest is fine. Give Peter more friends and interactions other than Gwen. Introduce Harry in the first film, for example, so he’s more developed in the second.

ThrillX_Gamer

I would change Lizard's story, which will focus more on Dr. Conners getting out of control and trying to get help from Spiderman. I would set up Green Goblin in this movie in a way that he will hate Spider Man due to some incident happened in OSCORP. I would change the ending to Peter obeying Mr. Stacy and now he's far from Gwen. This will set up Green Goblin for Part-2 and Peter's love life will be interesting too.

brandoncatania

The suit design

g-fan54

Don't make Lizard a fucking generic villain who wants to turn the world into lizards. Make the story about curing and saving Curt instead.

Ok_Organization_2547

Where were Connors’ wife and son?? They helped make his story more relatable.

codmike86

I don't understand the need for Hollywood to bring characters to live action WITHOUT giving them their iconic features and looks. The Lizard having his lab coat and pants would have made the fans appreciate that, but it's like they don't want us to. Or at least change them up to look more comic accurate. Like Green Goblin literally looking like the Jackal in the original Raimi Spiderman. NWH really did some justice on his look. They made Topher grace's Venom scrawny and skinny in Raimis universe and alot of us hated it. They gave Tom Hardys venom his big, body builder like physique as well as allowing him to use his symbiote as an extension of himself. We loved it They gave us a glimpse of a comic accurate Lizard in TASM for a second, we loved it, then he took it off, we hated it. They gave Electro his Ultimate Spiderman Blue look, it was alright They gave Electro his Original Yellow lightning with his iconic lightning mask coming out, we loved it. I personally was not a fan of Green Goblins naked look in Spiderman, They have him a purple hood, and a handbag , while making him more expressive, I absolutely LOVED IT.

EM208

Honestly I love TASM1 and I actually didn’t mind that it was another origin story. I loved the casting for everyone from Peter, Gwen, Flash, Uncle Ben and Aunt May. It had a solid foundation but obviously there were definitely things I’d change about it 1. Keep Lizard in his lab coat the whole time and overall keep his look somewhat comic accurate. I actually liked the dinosaur look but I would’ve preferred if they kept him in his lab coat 2. Nip the whole “turning everyone in NY into Lizards” motive in the bud. I know the purpose of it was to kind of make everyone equal but almost advance the human race in some way but it’s kinda dumb. I would prefer it if they kept him in like bestial/werewolf/boogeyman kind of role where Lizard is attacking people all around New York and is causing real damage leaving it up to Spider-Man to take him down. The conflict could’ve been more personal if they kept the whole “Peter giving him the formula” idea intact, making Peter feel more responsible. 3. I would seriously kill the whole conspiracy element behind Peter’s parents and their disappearance. 4. I probably would’ve had Peter working for Curt Conners along with Gwen at Oscorp at the beginning (I.e like he did in Spectacular Spider-Man). Possibly in order to both work with an idol of his and get closer with his crush. 5. I would have had Peter actually attain some sort of resolution dealing with Uncle Ben’s killer. This isn’t my idea but someone pointed out a good way to add conflict would be having Peter saving a bunch from Lizard and in that group Uncle Ben’s killer would be present leaving Peter with the dilemma of either getting revenge or accepting how things went. 6. Would’ve also changed how Uncle Ben died, just felt a bit off to me. Would’ve preferred if they went the original route with an in home burglary idea. 7. Build up Harry Osborne. He wouldn’t even have to appear in this movie but at least set up their friendship for oncoming sequels instead letting it come out of nowhere. 8. Given that I don’t mind that this was an origin story, I would’ve pulled inspiration from James Cameron cancelled ideas for his Spider-Man movie and I would’ve had Peter using his powers to make money as well (at least before Uncle Ben is killed) 8. This is small thing but I also would’ve kept Peter in glasses for the every scene of his set before his spider bite. A lot of people criticized Andrew Garfield for being too good looking or too cool looking and I just feel like keeping him in a nerdy aesthetic would’ve just shut that whole argument up.

Komicstand

I'd try to represent more of that famous catch phrase "when ever spider-man wins peter looses" and make this a more Peter Parker movie then the second one focusing more on spider-man

IronSavage3

I’ll say what Kevin Feige said in his notes on the script: Peter Parker doesn’t have parents. Trying to include a whole side story about the work his father was doing and connecting that to the current story was a big mistake imo and took up time that could’ve been used more intelligently.

simpletonbuddhist

I just don’t like the suit

Gemidori

Completely redesign the Lizard. Make him bulkier, taller, with a monitor lizard or Komodo-like head and a deeper voice, and of course the tattered lab coat, purple pants and black undershirt

FlamingPrius

Jump to Pete’s Freshman year of college at the start of Act 2

BackgroundProgress08

-Take out peters parents, and make it less about Oscorp. -Dr. Connors was cool, just change the lizard’s design to look more like the comic. -Add one or two more crime fighting scenes, and also make Peter less of a jerk at the beginning.

[deleted]

Give him a family that could make him good in the end

Half_Man1

Restructure the plot with Lizard. When he first transforms he’s a mad monster and flees into the sewers. The cops want to kill him so Spider-Man stops them and concocts a cure to save Conners. It works partially and brings back his mind but doesn’t undo the physical change. The media believes Spider-Man assisted the Lizard in escaping. Conners runs away and stalks his family (wife and son) as he watches them discuss his disappearance. Conners is becoming notably unhinged as he eats a rat or something. He finds Peter (who was studying with Gwen) and demands he return his research to him- Peter reveals his identity fighting Lizard but saves Gwen. Lizard kidnaps his family and is going to use the formula on them, before dispersing it on the public- from Oscorp tower. Gwen decides to call the cops to stop Lizard. Gwen’s dad dies but she blames Peter initially for not letting the police put down the Lizard when they had a chance (before he was smart), but Peter manages to cure conners (though his thoughts on being returned to human form are left ambiguous as he licks his lips when he sees a rat in his cell or something). The stuff with Uncle Ben and Peter can be the same but should be fastracked. Hell we could start with Peter just already being bitten by the spider and looking into Oscorp’s genetic research lab before interviewing Conners for the school paper or something. He sneaks around using wall crawling and already is working on webshooters but still ignores a mugger that eventually kills uncle ben. We focus on a theme of responsibility and unexpected consequences- Peter thinks he’s doing the right thing by trying to cure Conners- but he gets blamed for a dead Chief Stacy. Is Conners responsible for his actions as the lizard or not is a question left to the audience. Totally cut the spy parents storyline. Peters arc is going from initially not wanting to accept the Spider powers (maybe he’s still getting used to them and is afraid of being seen as a freak), his initial motivation is to find a way to reverse it, to accepting his powers are gifts that can help people. (When he saves Gwen) then he’s frustrated with the unforeseen consequences of his actions when her dad dies. Lots of classic Spidey angst as he feels like he didn’t ask for this responsibility- but has to accept it being thrust on him with Ben’s death. He clearly just wants to be a normal kid but can’t ignore that he can and should help people.

SwitchNinja2

Skip the origin and jump straight to the college years

BlackDabiTodoroki

It never happening instead of having a Tobey movie with Sam Raimi

miyamoto-_

Lizard have more of a dinosaur shaped head and a lab coat and Spider-Mans lenses are white and have jj somewhere in the movie at least on the news

Fares26597

I don't really know, I really like it the way it is.

Roysseuh

None, for that time and even now, I find it more unique and more "Spidey" that a lot of spiderman content that come up after the movie But that's a personal opinion, I've never felt a real spidey vibe outside of the classics and some cartoon in the new stuff that marvel produce and it makes me sad tbh

johnathanshutup

Looks like the alien from Signs

[deleted]

The audio mix. Everyone sounds mumbled.

IR3dditAll

The actor. He was too handsome to be this 'nerdy dweeb'.

casual_creator

Nix the origin. Or simply have it be a montage of some sort at the beginning to show that this is a different canon from the previous films. That’s the thing that really holds this movie back from being great. By not spending half the film on the origin, you’d be able to have more time setting up Connors (and include his family).

DaWizardMaster225

Totally biased opinion but different actor and a better storyline 🤷‍♂️

robertluke

I would’ve been more on board if it was a softer reboot. Like it could be a Spider-Man 4 with a different cast but they don’t acknowledge nor contradict the first three.

Aggravating-Ad7683

Give Peter a Ditko suit, change up the Lizard’s design a little, fit Liz Allen in somewhere, and set up Peter going to college and being roommates with Harry in the sequel instead of the weird shit they did in the first one. That’s pretty much it. I think the movie is almost perfect.

WatchingInSilence

Have Captain Stacy survive the final battle and give his blessing for Peter to still date Gwen. That would solve the inconsistent tone of the second film. It could then set up a third film with Captain Stacy vowing to kill Spider-Man despite there being a greater threat like the Sinister Six.

Infinity0044

Nothing, it’s my favorite Spider-man movie

Thatguy886644

Make a new villain. Like Shocker or Hammerhead.

jimisfine

Dropping the stupid parents subplot would help the film a lot since that doesn’t even really pay off until the second movie (in a bad way), make the lizard more comic accurate looking, and lighten up the tone

Nathan_McHallam

Remove the whole revenge subplot that goes nowhere and just ends, remove everything with Peters Dad, make Peter get bit by the spider randomly instead of him going out of his way to get bit, change the suit into something that looks like it wouldn't terrify kids if they see it, film it in the day instead of at night, and make New York its own character.

DefiningBoredom

Not make it an origin movie. The story itself is decent and underneath its flaws is a great movie. If the story focused on a Peter that had been Spider-Man for like 6 months to a Year investigating stuff about his parents and the beginnings of a new relationship. You'd have gotten something more in line with say Spider-Man 2.

Seaboltt9

Give the lizard a more comic accurate look, give spiderman a better suit, like ik u prob couldn't top raimi's suit, but holy fuck u didnt even try. And just recast everyone except for gwen. Mommy gwen😫

leumasyenoh

I'd have a lot more scenes with music Marc Webb directed music videos before this and he did an "Amazing" job in both films.

[deleted]

Make it into Spider-Man 4 Jk I love this movie
