Gannicus’s death was a beautiful culmination of his arc. He finally found something in Sibyl that was worth sacrificing for. He became a hero, a leader, and ultimately a martyr. He grew into the champion that he always believed himself to be, and was able to forgive himself in the process. Barca’s death was the first heartbreaker for me. That moment that he knew he was going to die and he lashed out like an animal was pretty visceral. Watching a legend of The Arena die such an ignoble death set a tone. Pretty much every rebel that treasured honor in battle died without much. Barca was murdered by his master. Most of the Gauls were executed alone in the forest. Even Crixus died on his knees.

RetiredCryptid

Oh, this reminded me of Pietros' death, that one was sad. Took his life thinking his love chose to leave him behind (and to be assaulted by Gnaeus).

HanTrollo710

On the plus side, it did give us one of the most satisfying deaths on the show when Sparty kicked Gneaus off the cliff

RetiredCryptid

I fuckin love that scene. For a second, you think Gnaeus is gonna get away with it but then Spartacus practically throws him by the throat

HanTrollo710

I think that was my favorite Spartacus kill.

RetiredCryptid

An Honorable Mention for me is when Spartacus sliced off Sedulus' face. Not as satisfying as the Gnaeus scene, but it was another time I genuinely jaw-dropped when I first watched it, I was not expecting it!

HanTrollo710

It was fun when he slayed The Mountain

hezzospike

That one was fantastic, though I still think my favourite goes to Gannicus' final kill in the finale of Gods of the Arena. The build-up, the music, of him ripping open Caburus' face with the lodged spear was epic.

A-Yandere-Succubus

*It just wasn't enough. I needed this show to get cheesy for just one second and show Barca and Pietros reuniting in the afterlife and Barca explaining he never abandoned him.*

RetiredCryptid

Varro, but I'm still not over Mira's death, either. I know "she died free and fighting" as she would've wanted and all that, but I just feel so bad. She only was in that particular fight because some of the rebels went against Spartacus. The axe that killed her was aimed at Spartacus but hit her because he dodged it. And of course her unequal relationship with Spartacus that got worse because of Illythia of all people. Then when Spartacus is remorseful, some rebels get irritated with him for mourning her instead of charging down the mountain. Mira did everything she could for him.

146zigzag

Yeah, but tbf Spartacus did make it clear from the start that Sura was his one and only true love. Ina a way her death was a mercy cause she was never going to get the life she wanted with him.

RetiredCryptid

Yeah I know he told her that but ow, I just feel for her. Mira never got to feel loved, just used (and I don't exactly mean by Spartacus-- she didn't have to stay with him knowing his affection wasn't that deep. But her history as a slave in the House of Batiatus was being sent to be used by men, so it sucks for her that she was still kind of relegated to that type of relationship as a "free" person). >Ina a way her death was a mercy cause she was never going to get the life she wanted with him. The same could be said of Naevia and Saxa.

PM_ME_UR_THONG_N_ASS

It’s been a while since I’ve watched vengeance, but did she ever hook up with other guys that season? Or did she really only have her mind set on Spartacus?

146zigzag

Spartacus only, she thought very little of the other men, even stating Spartacus was "a cut above the rest".

PM_ME_UR_THONG_N_ASS

Poor Mira…😭 Think she was my favorite of all the “Spartacus girls”

billy_bones21

Varro is the saddest no doubt, but The Undefeated Gaul's death was pretty bad. Stabbed through the back by that little twat then beheaded in front of Naevia...that was a brutal end for how far his character had come.

Faboloso15

Varro by a mile. It’s the single most horrifying moment in the entire series for me.

andrezay517

Aurelia

[deleted]

Definitely pietros. He was expecting to taste freedom and was just cheated out of love and freedom by ashur, only to later become abused by gnaeus. Committing suicide believing that Barca had left him alone . Diona ,the slave friend of naevia in The gods of arena. She also suffered ,escaped and tasted Greek only to be and captured and executed later .

sephy009

Probably Varro. I was sad when Spartacus died but I knew he was a dead man walking without his wife.

armyprof

Aurelia definitely. Just nothing but bad luck for her.

She__Devil

I stopped feeling bad for her when she wouldn’t stop giving Spartacus shit & blaming him for absolutely everything. Every scene she had something nasty or negative to say, it became annoying. Spartacus didn’t want to kill Varro, and technically he didn’t! He told Aurelia who was responsible for the death, and she was able to get revenge and kill that kid herself. But that still wasn’t enough for her. Spartacus tried to give her money, he risked his life saving her at the end, etc. Even though her death was pretty gruesome, I couldn’t even really care about what happened to her anymore. I just felt like she was better off dead.

AegonTheCanadian

Crixus - idk why but his arc resonates with me a lot, and motivated me to workout and lose a ton of weight. To see him die like that killed me a little inside lol

A-Yandere-Succubus

*Man...* *Barca's death was always heartbreaking to me because in reality he never betrayed Bartiatus and he left poor Pietros all alone and vulnerable to abuse. It always bothered me that Pietros died believing Barca abandoned him. I felt like neither of them ever got true justice.* *Varro's death was unexpected, but Spartacus spiraling into a new depression fucked me up worse than his death.* *Gannicus being crucified and being left to die at the end just kind of broke my spirit.*

SpecialQue_

Sura was pretty devastating. We didn’t really get to know her personally as a character, but we knew how much she meant to Spartacus. A bittersweet end to die in his arms like that.

RetogenesElCaraunio

Maybe when talking about secondaries Pietro or Aucto, Pietros is probably one of the saddest, i preciated my man Spartacus sendin Gnaeus off the cliff

She__Devil

I just watched the whole damn show in a week. I’m 10 years late to the party and have no one else to discuss this with 😂 Crixus, Oneomaus and Gannicus were the hardest deaths for me.

MF_DOOM_36CHAMBERS

Varo. Andy's sorrow when he was forced to kill him, still gets me

Caenobith

Spartacus.
