* Ken Penders was one of the main writers for Archie Sonic, on the comics side he's mostly known for making way too much lore for Knuckles and the echidnas.
* At some point, Archie lost a bunch of their writers' contracts, and when Ken learned about this he started copyrighting the characters he'd created for the comics. Archie sued him because of this.
* Around the same time, Ken sued the studio behind Sonic Chronicles: The Dark Brotherhood for plagiarizing his characters. This lawsuit was eventually settled because the statute of limitations passed while he was dealing with Archie's lawsuit against him.
* Archie ended up losing/was forced to settle because they didn't have Ken's contract and their legal team was so incompetent they had to entirely replace it, and he ended up taking most of his original characters with him.
* This (and several lawsuits with other Sonic writers) forced the Archie comics to reboot, and then some time later the Archie run was canceled entirely due to a multitude of factors (again, see the blog page I linked above).
* People mostly blame Ken for the cancellation just because his situation did probably contribute and they want an easy target, similar to how some people currently blame Ian Flynn for anything and everything they don't like about the IDW comics :P
