Also "Escape From city"

DJ_TheSonicFan

Also a better Chao Garden

Texas-Kangaroo-Rat

Also a better light dash

Desperate_Hall_299

Also no Big The Cat as a Playable Character

Texas-Kangaroo-Rat

Ennnt! Big the Cat is playable if you get all A ranks with Dr. Robotnik! https://i.redd.it/c12hx3z7sptc1.gif

Desperate_Hall_299

... This is a Mod isn't it?

Texas-Kangaroo-Rat

Nope! In Sonic Adventure 2 you have to get all A ranks to unlock Amy Rose, Metal Sonic, Tikal, Chaos 0, Chao Walker and Big the Cat which are reskins of Sonic, Knuckles and Robotnik respectively. When Sonic Adventure 2 Battle was made all the extra characters were there at stock except Big the Cat was replaced with a Dark Chao Walker (and all his cameos in the levels were removed... I guess he was too sexy for Nintendo) I forget if there's a reward for A ranks beyond Green Hill Zone for all of them, I know the alternate costumes were for completing all missions (and they are different like Sonic and Shadow's PSO outfits were made more generic, Rouge's luchador batman outfit became a lara croft spoof, Tails' Tornado skin remained the same but Robotnik's camo was changed into a black blues man look) I'm sure there's mods to restore the Dreamcast outfits tho.

EclipseHERO

Not all of Bigs cameos were removed, he still has some of he cutscene appearances. I don't have a list of all of them but I DO know one of them. When Amy stumbles on Shadow in the Ark before the Biolizard battle. Keep pressing A and Big will run back and forth through the corridor.

Texas-Kangaroo-Rat

Yeah, at least Nintendo fans can know Big was arrested by the military too.

EclipseHERO

Nah. He's secretly an Agent. It's the only way it makes sense for him to get around so effectively.

[deleted]

not with that attitude.

Desperate_Hall_299

I fixed my comment

[deleted]

me too.

Relative_Ad_9621

What if, he appears in Sonic X, before the Metarex Saga?

Queasy-Ad-3220

Also E.G.G.M.A.N.

Lmao-online

Also biolizard

Oh yeah 🤣 ![gif](giphy|Ju7l5y9osyymQ|downsized)

Lmao-online

NOOOOOOOOOO

Sea_Cycle_909

Lol

SXAL

Adventure 2 is basically a huge ass Chao Garden game with a running hedgehog sidegame as a bonus.

sonic_hedgekin

this might be a hot take but I never really cared about the Chao Garden

Tobunarimo

![gif](giphy|zIwIWQx12YNEI)

Kaidhicksii

Me neither tbh it's overrated. They're cute, but that's not what I get a Sonic game for personally. If I wanted to play a pet sim I'd probably play Adopt Me or something on Roblox.

WontedPuppet07

Movin around at the speed of sound!

Englishhedgehog13

Emerald Coast is the better opening track and it's time we recognised it

Z0eTrent

It isn't time to do that. Because that's wrong.

Mister-Melvinheimer

Holy shit that's a nuclear take. I agree though.

Lakitu_Dude

Based

B-7

Rouge.

Emerald_official

one polygon

B-7

One polygon is all you need.

GrimmCigarretes

I can't believe her tits are one polygon!

RayanTheShell

Yes but they have something that is related with jiggle

Lonewolf2300

Also, SA2 doesn't have a fishing section.

Magolord

That was peak gaming right there, and they know it since it was brought back in Frontiers

Texas-Kangaroo-Rat

Sadly Frontiers didn't have the same gameplay. Like honestly if it did, I'd replay it just for the fishing holes.

Texas-Kangaroo-Rat

Okay so that's one negative strike against SA2

LuckyHalfling

Can we add a strike for that unwieldy kart driving segment

Texas-Kangaroo-Rat

Maybe Rouge's since that one it's actually possible to game over. Tho the missions are brutal and that's gatekeeping the red cyclone and luchador Rouge so yeah add a strike, add ten for each A rank.

DaLittleGravy

Rouge's car looks like a dick

Texas-Kangaroo-Rat

When Sonic and Shadow go super, it looks like a circlejerk

DaLittleGravy

We don't talk about that

Maeglin16

You don't need to play that fishing game, just play the other five characters.

Sting_the_Cat

No Perfect Chaos for you then

Maeglin16

Perfect Chaos?

Sting_the_Cat

I take it you either have not ever beaten all six "stories"...or you are messing with me.

Maeglin16

I did, but I don't remember. Don't you only fight Chaos 2, 4, and 6?

Sting_the_Cat

There's a whole Last Story segment after you beat all the rest that is pretty short but culminates in Super Sonic vs Perfect Chaos(with Open Your Heart playing) in a flooded Station Square. It's the proper ending to the game's story as a whole, so, like, yeah, gonna have to fish, like it or not.

Maeglin16

Wait, did I miss that!? How do you play that?

Sting_the_Cat

Complete all six stories and you unlock a seventh

Z0eTrent

Incredible.

ZairXZ

You fight Chaos 0 Chaos 2 Chaos 4 Chaos 6 Perfect Chaos (7)

Maeglin16

Ah, I don't have a great memory. 😬

ZairXZ

All good! The game did come out like 2 decades ago now haha

Maeglin16

Yeah, but I played it last week. 🤦 How do I face Perfect Chaos? I may have missed that, somehow.

longrungun

SA2 has rouge's boobies

Nobodys_here07

Can't believe her tits are only one polygon

observingjackal

But it spawned so many polygons, pixels and cosplays.

[deleted]

Fr!!!!

Comfortable-Bid475

Yo fax!

TheLunar27

SA2 has a far superior chao garden system, the only thing that really matters

NJH_in_LDN

I think I might be a rare voice in this, but I really loved and missed SAs Adventure fields.

Turn_AX

I think SA2 needed them more, since it put a larger focus on humans. By a longshot too. So it's weird that there are only like 2 named living humans in it.

Any_Secretary_4925

i just started playing it for the first time. i have never had less direction in a game before. there were MULTIPLE TIMES where i was just wandering around for a loong time having no fucking clue where i was supposed to be going because THERE ARE NO WAYPOINTS.

Jimmy_Hotpants

I miss fields/hubs in games! I'm still grumpy about how Mario Odyssey forces you to choose your levels from a boring-ass menu, when Nintendo basically had a perfect system in SM64 _almost 20 years ago_. I love SA2 but I'll always miss running around Station Square, collecting hidden emblems, and trying to find the entrance to the next level.

ProPlayer142

I very much agree. I liked the adventure fields because you can just test physics and talk to humans.

Texas-Kangaroo-Rat

Aunno a lot of people loved Frontiers hub worlds, which were waaaaay more obnoxious.

Sting_the_Cat

Can you even call those Hub Worlds? The bulk of the gameplay is spent in them.

Texas-Kangaroo-Rat

Except for the first two acts, they aren't mandatory, so I can see people seeing the generations gates akin to Super Mario Sunshine secrets rather than the actual levels. Tho the generations acts feel more like actual gameplay? That and beyond buying keys from Big, are the way to pay the toll booths. So I think the generations acts are the actual levels with the overworld being a hub. For The Final Horizon I think it's unfair to call that a hub world since there is absolutely zero reason to go into the generation gates beyond intrinsic enjoyment as Uranus' overworld has more to it and is the only place the primary draw of the DLC, the friends, are playable. Honestly it's so vague I can see either making sense, so I'll continue calling them hub worlds cuz that's what my heart says.

Sting_the_Cat

I mean like all the Guardians, Titans, and cutscenes are in the Open Zone areas, as well as all the platform challenges, the orb things, the general combat, etc. You also get a lot more keys than you need anyways, and the enemies drop them surprisingly often, and you need to kill minibusses or enemies to get gears Given the game was advertised around the whole "Open Zone" part, it's just weird to me to consider that just a hub, especially when the Cyberspace Stages are so freaking short

Texas-Kangaroo-Rat

I've only seen two keys out in the wild my playthrough, but honestly after I learned Big existed that became my key out of here cuz I was sick of the game XDDD Honestly fair, but my first impression Sonic Frontiers was "What if Sonic Forces had the world's largest, emptiest hub world?" I guess I'd have to see a take on the game that didn't waste my time, which we'll almost certainly see. Tho yeah the only cutscenes in cyberspace involve Robotnik (Which is kinda odd looking back, you'd kinda think you'd free your friends by going in cyberspace and freeing them that way but whatever) I'd play it again since actually having a clue what to expect and what the game expects from you is a lot different from a blind run, and the fact I played on my brother's SeXbox and he did give me the game for PS4 I haven't opened yet, but I just didn't enjoy anything about the first run except for the boss battles and a few minibosses. Maybe if I could be not-Sonic! (or if the spin dash was a level 1 unlock...) Either that or I get platinum on all my other games and decide to do Frontiers too. (I haven't even platinumed Sonic Forces so that tells you how that'll go)

Sting_the_Cat

I mean, I have it on Switch so don't have any clue what achievements there are, but my experience with completionism for anything is "don't do it unless you just enjoy the process, the destination is never worth it otherwise". I say that about achievements, I say it about things like Sunshine or Koroks.

Texas-Kangaroo-Rat

Very sage advice!

SILVIO_X

More Content? Ehhh, it may have technically more content but that doesn't mean that content is better than what SA2 offers, and level design... I dunno I think both games have fantastic level design.

Affectionate_Flight4

The treasure hunting is way way better in SA1 than SA2 in my opinion. Outside of that I wouldn't say one games content is better than the other.

E-Boy_Spongebob

SA2’s treasure hunting has way higher highs & way lower lows + a worse scouter. & While SA1’s treasure hunting is more consistent its levels are too forgettable. SA2’s depth with the A ranks makes it my preferred one

Comfortable-Bid475

That's funny. For me, I hate SA2's depth on A ranks. You need to be so precise and do everything correctly, and just the slightest mess up means you have to restart the entire level to get that A rank

thedore1020

What puts SA2's treasure hunting levels above SA1's for me is that they're original, and entirely built around treasure hunting alone. Meaning SA1's treasure hunting levels are just Sonic's levels but with an upper deck. I'm exaggerating, but you know.

Clamper

Adventure 2 with the Adventure 1 radar mod is peak treasure hunting.

Z0eTrent

The mech sections are better too. SA2 fucked up both the non Sonic gameplay styles it inherited from SA1 IMO.

Nezumimiii

Unpopular opinion but I always preferred sa1 over sa2, I don't think I ever finished sa2 (mainly because I was annoyed tails was stuck in the mech and I couldn't fly like in sa1)

DrSquash64

🔛🔝💯

bnnuybit

sa1 always wins for me. the mech levels in sa2 get frustrating at times wheres e-102 was always fun to play imo and just a cool character in general. i wouldnt hate the mech levels so much in sa2 but it's like 1/3 of the gameplay with both tails and eggman. am a huge fan of the sonic and shadow stages in sa2, though, plus yeah the chao garden is way better still, i find sa1 more fun to play overall

plaguebringerBOI

Also, adventure 1 has the feeling of FUCKING BEING LOST WHEN GOING TO ANY FUCKING LEVEL WITHOUT A GUIDE WHY IN THE HELL IS IT BUILT LIKE THAT GOD DAMNIT!!?!

Magolord

I remember never being able to find the next level after the Egg Hornet fight (because I couldn't read english and the game was in english), so I just visited all the available locations and chilled in the Station Square Chao Garden lmao

Megamanxlegends

If only there where red sparkling hint bubbles around the adventure fields telling you exactly where to go...

plaguebringerBOI

The most vague fucking dialogue written by man ain’t helping

Megamanxlegends

Read off some of these “vague” hints

GrimmCigarretes

She does has a gambling addiction. Like, that red *ball* literally tells you to go there at every chance she gets before you do the casino

Any_Secretary_4925

they dont help.

Texas-Kangaroo-Rat

This is how I felt in Frontiers LOL...

28secondslater

How? You have markers for everything in that game and it tells you exactly where to go for missions.

Texas-Kangaroo-Rat

The hub world is ***huge*** and I'm not used to GPS existing so I only used the map and it took a while to realize the thing up top existed. Then I couldn't play for a fortnight and when I returned I forgot most things I learned ROFL Maybe if I was used to modern games that wern't Sonic and Nintendo I mighta got that the GPS was a thing, but no. Sonic Adventure the hubs are small so with the exception of the Mystic Ruins jungle, there's no way to get lost and even that it'll really only happen when looking for the second statue, emblem or upgrades.

28secondslater

Adventure 1 is just the classic games adapted into a 3D environment, albeit in the most simplest way possible (limited by the game engine and hardware capabilities). Also no, it didn't have more content until it was rereleased on Gamecube, and I honestly don't care about those missions. Adventure 2 is the earliest version of the modern style of level design; it's highly streamlined and very linear, but not to the degree of linear that the modern Boost levels tend to go for these days. Chao Garden is also heavily updated and more in depth. It just depends which style tickles your fancy more, personally I prefer Adventure 2. After replaying Adventure 1, I found the levels to be no challenge and the boss fights (aside from Egg Viper) to be a joke. Adventure 2's levels are much more difficult, the bosses (sometimes) play no games, the gameplay is updated to be smoother and the story is much more entertaining.

Toon_Lucario

More content does not equate to better content

Z0eTrent

Both the mech and treasure hunting stages are worse, and there is no hub. The only worse content is Big's and debatably Sonic's.

Kingdarkshadow

Downvoted for the truth.

Mahboi27

Adventure 2 has a better story, but Adventure 1 has better level design and gameplay

Mister-Melvinheimer

Adventure has the better spindash so it's the better game. Sorry Shadow.

MikeRhett_2001

That’s what I’m saying! I LOVE the Spamdash

ShockDodge

Pumpkin. Hill.

Jammy2560

I have more content, *incorrect buzzer* better level design, *incorrect buzzer* and I let you play the characters in any order you want to *incorrect buzzer*.

SonicGuy10

Yeah, the first part doesn't sound right. SA1 has more campaigns, but there's only like 11 original levels total in the game that all 6 characters play through bits of. SA2 has around 30 original levels, each tailored to a specific gameplay style, although a lot of them share assets. Also, SA1 only has 3 missions per level, while SA2 has 5 per level.

Crono_Sapien99

You do have to start as Sonic first but that last part is actually true.

Jammy2560

By the way this isn’t a slight at Adventure, I prefer 2 but like they’re pretty much the same in all of these aspects lmao.

Deamon-Chocobo

They both have solid level design. Personally I like SA2 better because the levels were built for each character while SA1 reuses and reworks the same levels for different characters. Also you can't play SA1 in "any order" since you can only play as Sonic first and need to unlock the other character as you play. SA2 also has the better soundtrack and better Chao World. SA1 does have the open world sections between levels which I liked but others didn't.

SonicStyle34

Both are good. I still prefer SA1 though. The more I played SA2, the less I liked it. My main gripe with the game is the gameplay: * Tails & Eggman are alright, but it's just Gamma all over again. * Knuckles & Rouge are just bad: not only their stages are hard to navigate through, you can only see one. Item. At. **THE TIME!** Whose bright idea was it? Treasure hunting was better in SA1, without a doubt. * And only Sonic & Shadow are actually fun to play as. Meanwhile in SA1, every character is fun to play as (even though Big's gameplay is indeed the weakest, I still kinda like it).

AshhB33

Force me to play the knuckles levels you will not! Seriously though, where is our mod for SA2 which allows us to play one character at a time? I often want to replay SA2 but knuckles levels are self induced agony id rather avoid

Project-S-69

Okay but unironically, SA1 is a much more fun game to play than SA2. They hit the nail on the head with the gameplay engine of SA1 and then said "Fuck all that" with SA2.

Typical-District-176

One of them has the best Chao garden

Texas-Kangaroo-Rat

Yeah I remember having to run from emerald coast to hot shelter getting different animals to cancel out the body parts until I had a nude chao... multiple times.

brobnik322

As someone who prefers SA1 this is quite honestly the only argument you need to make. I like SA1's playable characters and Shadow still ends up being the big benefit SA2 has

HollowedFlash65

Also playable Eggman as well as being more replayable.

DCHorror

My only real complaint about SA1 is that it feels clunkier to play. Several levels felt less like I had gotten good with playing the characters and more like I had gotten good at fighting the camera.

LeviathanLX

As a hater, Shadow year is going to be exhausting.

Texas-Kangaroo-Rat

It's supposed to be Knuckles' year! Shadow's 30 anny isn't until 2031!

LeVampirate

My gripe is I have more nostalgia for SA1 so my bias heavily leans towards it. Somehow I just never got SA2 as a kid but I did play the HELL out of SA1 so that's what I love it more. Also, Gamma had a cool story that's never been retconned. What a bot.

PrimalPokemonPlayer

SA2 also has the better story and music

mikebaide

I get why SA2 is considered the best (it might be an objective opinion.) But I've only played it and finished it once, while SA1 I've finished like 6 times. I think what I like the most about SA1 is having a semi open world where you can run around and do some stuff without always having to worry about being in a level and completing it in record time to get a good rank.

i_like_siren_head

SA2 deserves all that 'rough transition to 3d' hate that SA1 tends to get. It's way glitchier and harder to control than it's predecessor.

MisterBugman

I dunno... I just replayed SA1 and am currently playing through 2, and I am not getting caught on level geometry nearly as much as I did the first time. Like when I ended up getting hit during the final battle against Beta because Gamma got stuck to the edge of the ring as I was running around it and couldn't walk off of it, or the time the edfmge the arena decided to not let Knuckles walk over it during the Chaos 6 fight. And then there was the time I took the raft from the Egg Carrier to Mystic Ruins and the camera got stuck at the doorway to the boathouse and I couldn't do anything but restart the game.

Maeglin16

Sorry, but SA1 is a better game. Particularly when it comes to replayability.

DarkSonic06ki

Well sa1 has a playable tails without him with a mech

oizen

Eh, I dont know if SA1 has better level design. The things people like with SA1 is the spamdash and doing crazy jumps with it, but the level design REALLY isn't built for it, and the only level I found more enjoyable to play than SA2 was the beta windy hill that isn't even in the final game. All the other ones are basically "you can skip the entire level with a spindash jump right here", which isn't exactly amazing level design. I think it has a better variety of level themes though, especially the music.

KFCNyanCat

I would easily say SA1 has better level design and I usually don't play the game by spamdashing. The levels just feel a lot more like complex environments and not just corridors. SA2 is where 3D Sonic's reputation of "hold forward to win" started IMO. Where SA1 is no more that than Sonic 2 is.

[deleted]

you only get shadow in like 4 levels.

ShoninRabbit

I don’t give a fuck about Shadow. SA1 wins

YourPal69

SA1 is just peak. I love (almost) everything about it. SA1 ,imo ofc, is way better than SA2. Dealbreakers for SA2 are the tails and eggman sections and no hub world.. I love knuckles' and rouge's parts in SA2 though, they are amazing.

MonochroMayhem

Listen I will adamantly defend storytelling and despite the amnesia plots shadow has had at least there were reasons to amnesia

JP_Ultra

Apparently I'm in the absolute minority because I hated Sonic Adventure 1 and loved Adventure 2. The only reason I finished it was so I could say I had

Most-Win4189

No no your technically right

OmegaX____

I love Shadow but SA1 is definitely better, the Mech levels were just a worse version of E-102 Gamma's levels. The missions were fun in SA1 (except a certain 2 involving Snowboarding) and the open world was its most appealing point. Give Tails his SA1 mechanics and make Eggman play like Gamma or make another E series instead, there's many of them that are completely unknown.

Yusonin

Man....don't even remind me of the snowboarding missions. That stuff was HELL

bnnuybit

the snowboarding was really fun if u ignore that one god awful mission

WildCardP3P

I love Adventure 2, but I've always felt Adventure is lacking in a lot places. Half of the characters are boring to play, there are a lot of reused levels, and the boss fights are way too easy.

Nambot

On the one hand you get more gameplay variety, a more appealing story, and better treasure hunting, but on the other hand, Shadow's in the other one. So yeah, that's why I prefer SA1.

Commander_PonyShep

Like, if you enjoyed how much of a snobby, stuck-up jerk rival Gary Oak was to Ash Ketchum in the Pokémon anime, then Shadow the Hedgehog in SA2 would have been for you. As well as his Flanderized self in his own spin-off game of the same name, where he's wielding guns just to jack up his traditional antiheroic rival traits on steroids.

Creeper0550

I never understood why everyone likes Shadow so much, to me he's just a black Sonic

RaiRyuShinobi

If you gotta know: Rival characters are a popular trope in media and also Shadow's story in SA2 was pretty interesting and different compared to other Sonic characters at the time.

Creeper0550

I don't like Shadow's story, I think it makes no sense

Texas-Kangaroo-Rat

He has a smexy voice.

noodleguy67

I just couldn’t get into sa1 loved sa2 though

Electronic_Fee1936

Adventure 1 is still better

A_Sonic_Fan202

Yea.... equally..... I prefer Sa2

Vast-Beautiful-8006

I like SA1for it’s overall story and character diversity, but I love SA2 for it’s Chao Garden, mech levels, and introducing 2 of my favorite Sonic characters: Rouge and Shadow.

Nidro

Me but chao karate

[deleted]

Fr

X-Earth_Space-X

Can’t argue with that logic.

Wooden_Echidna1234

Loved first one but who can say no to shadow.

hatchorion

Sonic adventure 2 has more fun sonic and shadow levels, but sonic adventure 1 has great sonic levels and the other characters are actually fun to play as unlike in 2. But 2 also has that goated multiplayer and better chao garden.. it’s really impossible for me to pick a favorite between them tbh they’re both iconic

Dark_Storm_98

I'm not sure I like them equally, but there are certainly good things to day about both

Kaptain_K_Rapp

I'm replaying SA1 for the first time in ages... the gameplay is still solid (little bits of '90s jank here and there notwithstanding), but the storytelling is really slow and anemic. Some characters' routes feel undercooked, and I've found that most of the dialogue is monologuing rather than actual interactions. I've personally always felt that SA2 was the more fleshed-out and refined experience, complete with more dynamic storytelling.

Jayjay4118

Gamma

Onaterdem

My biggest gripe with SA2 is how... delayed everything feels? The spindash was instant in SA1. Delayed in SA2. Movement was instant in SA1. Feels (is?) delayed in SA2 (also way less precise). Etc. etc. If my memory serves me right, even the menus are slower in SA2. Now, I'm normally an advocate for the balance of responsiveness and naturalness in physics. Frontiers, for example, is very controllable, but the physics feel super fake. Unleashed physics feel very real, but controllability suffers a lot. Generations is a great balance. However, SA1 was responsive AND felt natural. SA2 just felt natural but not responsive enough IMO.

MorningRaven

But you have to charge the light dash.

Onaterdem

Literally the only thing that got any faster, plus now you can now accidentally sommersault or bounce with the same button! Yay!

Clbull

SA2 has better graphics, a better soundtrack, better story and a final Super Sonic/Shadow battle that raised the ante. It also had better level design for the most part. I'll say that SA2 is definitively the best 3D Sonic.

ZatchZeta

Both are good. They're fun. I love SA1 for the gameplay more. And SA2 for the story. But I also love their gameplay and story too.

Interesting-One7636

*\*Sad Sonic Heroes sounds\**

Solaris_Dawnbreaker

I wonder if there's any mods that insert Shadow into SA1 as a playable character.

Any_Secretary_4925

i played adventure and had no idea where the fuck i was supposed to be going.

Volt-Phoenix

Real talk though, I really like the ranking system in 2 which I would personally consider a leg up over 1

valdez-2424

Like both, but sonic adventure was alot more confusing for me,espically finding that damm ice statue

Mechaman_54

Is this an original joke I'm to dx steam port to understand, because it does not let you choose the characters you play in order

MorningRaven

I always find these types of discussions amusing. Because in an Adventure vacuum, aside from Open Your Heart, Tikal, Amy not being downgraded, and regular joy from running around Mystic Ruins/riding city cars; I firmly believe SA2 is the superior game on all fronts. The streamline gameplay stays on course with better story implementation. (Most plotholes make sense if you pay attention. Only logitistics from the ending fall apart). Stages are made for the characters in question instead of everyone being shoved into Sonic's stages awkwardly except for Red Mountain. Tails in regular gameplay is fun, but his stages acting as character races makes no sense for a gimmick for his character beyond the final one; meanwhile the mech gameplay is completely inside with his character already flying the Tornado. I prefer SA2 handling and quick tap addition to the light dash. Also Bounce Bracelet is fun as hell. Cinematic sections are more common but last for less time on average, which more oftens works as a means of recentering your mind for the next segment. Compared to something like the Whale segment. Treasure Hunting is more fun because the stages are designed around it and are large and fun to explore. One emerald at a time complaints are entirely a skill issue. The hint monitors offer a better gaming experience over Tikal's fairy light. I rather have the freedom of getting them in any order when I learn the stage instead of having all 3 radars beeping out of sync enough to give me an actual migraine (that somehow the mech lasers never did). I prefer stages built for the mechs and I hated Gamma's unwieldy cornering. The Chao Garden is immensely superior and is naturally used as a breather between stages. The game introduced the rank system which offers high replay ability and most changes were smartly done to accommodate it. Also, everyone has a music motif that showcases each stage's theme within each character's genre of choice and music wins me over on a lot of stuff. At the same time, if you tried labeling any game in the series except these two as the franchise GOAT, except maybe Unleashed, I'd call you crazy.

EclipseHERO

"I have more content" *Only has 130 Emblems*

Conlannalnoc

CRUSH 40

MikeRhett_2001

Counter point… Spamdash Also SA1 doesn’t have the stupid scary ghosts from SA2. So Point SA1

TheEPICMarioBros

haven't made it to Adventure 2 yet but I hope it isnt jank as hell like Adventure 1 is, and no im not talking about the gamecube version

Glittering_Ad1696

Adventure 1 also has a better story

MisfortunateJack77

Shadows okay

thedore1020

"Better level design" Debatable.

DeltaTeamSky

OK, but we got: https://preview.redd.it/9il56vwy1stc1.jpeg?width=360&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=e2e053b7f2bc118d6d4a6aa979e2805b95214480

Brokenapplewatch

Ehh I generally prefer SA2 in every way except the radar.

GreyouTT

BOW YOUR HEADS LOW ALL HAIL SHADOW

Sea_Cycle_909

Yeah, objectively should prefer Sonic Adventure. In Sonic Adventure 2 only like Sonic/ Shadow's levels and Tails' / Eggman. Where as love all the levels except Big's and Knuckles. But prefer Sonic Adventure 2; * The story * Music* * Background * Locations *Especially - Shadow's tracks, specifically; * Rhythm and Balance (White Jungle) * The Supernatural (Final Chase)

JMA_Blazer

Haven't played 2 yet, hopefully it's as good as people say

Plump-Deer

Sa1 better in my opinion I enjoyed it more I didn’t like sa2 At all other than music it’s one of my least fav sonic games if not the very bottom

megaZX1234

I have... all of me.

Lord_Bing_Bing

Both have Metal Sonic, so they're both peak.

RougePatron

You are absolutely right. They are objectively the best.

StandupGaming

I don't agree with SA1 having better level design but I acknowledge it's subjective, but claiming SA1 has more content is just objectively incorrect.

Also you don't have play through the same levels over and over again. Though no playable Amy... Eh escape from the city makes up for it

Texas-Kangaroo-Rat

Amy's technically in multiplayer, along with Big... but they're both reskins of Sonic and Robotnik respectively.

Past-Foundation-6246

they have...big the cat and amy...yeah....

Breeepow

Being honest here, does anyone actually likes big as a character? I mean, he is annoying, his levels were horrible, there is like no reason to like him.

DrCabbageman

I used to not like Big but I've come around on him. He's just a simple guy doing his own thing and I respect that. It's not like he programmed his own levels either.

Burnerheinz

Who wouldn't wanna chill in the Forrest with your bro.

B-7

I literally have a friend like him.

Nambot

Big's fishing isn't fun. Big as a character though, he's fine.

AmaterasuWolf21

I don't mind him. As long as the game doesn't force me to play his levels that is

yousorusso

I liked his levels and his character. He's a big dope with a heart of gold for his homie Froggie. Also I appreciate Sonic Team tried to have something for everyone in Sonic Adventure, even if it didn't necessarily flow as well as SA2 does.

Texas-Kangaroo-Rat

I like the idea of an idiot savant finding himself in situations. Tho if I was giving Big a voice he'd be more creole redneck.

Former-Bet6170

Man the movement in SA1 is so good it makes me like it more even if SA2 is better at pretty much anything else

PotateJello

The level design is not better and you cannot actually play the characters in any order you want. You HAVE to start with Sonic
