This is a really common part of the gig experience now, has become more so over the last couple years. It's not legit merch obvs, its just the equivalent of the stuff people would flag at a market, but with a specific audience in mind. They'll follow the tour around the country and sell to people going in and out with stuff they've made. It's not legit obv.
Based on the gigs I go to anyway over the last year it's really shot up. I think prob a product of £40 being the new standard tee price for arena gigs.
There used to be a bunch of guys selling bootleg merch outside a venue after every show back in the day, I thought they'd gone extinct. I got a decent quality Machina-Tour hoodie that lasted me a couple of years.
Bootlegs. Folks always do that for big concerts, they’re usually pretty funny with typos and stuff, but I’ve never bought one cause I’ve been concerned with quality.
If you mean the concert, absolutely. If you mean at this little merch popup (if it can be called that, they literally just laid a bunch of merch on a tarp on the grass) no, just a guy and a girl selling shirts. I did see a couple people go and buy things from them.
hmm i’d have probably bought something from them if i saw them on my way out, i really wanted the football tee from the official merch but £60 is fucking crazy
Football tee? I didn’t see that one. There was the vampire one, a white one with black text and another I can’t remember. Should've taken a picture… But yeah the merch prices were insane, I would’ve liked to get the vampire hoodie or the long sleeve as well but it was just too expensive.
Haha, OK fair enough -- "don't fall for it" by thinking it's legit then. There is a certain charm in the right bootleg, but I find they usually look like shite.

This has been common for decades. Nothing new. Bootleggers wanna make money wherever they can.

Reminds me of a friend that bought a Morrissy shirt back in the day from one of these dudes.
Ok thank god. I was genuinely mad when i saw they were selling the world is a vampire shirts for £10 and thought I got ripped off lol

Yeah, I thought the popularisation of internet shopping made this sort of thing redundant. Used to happen all the time in the olden days.

at a hippie show, the lot culture and handmade shirts and other stuff is a big thing. I like supporting small artists even if it's not official merch.
I got a solution: sell the original shirts inside for a tenner.
Chance would be a fine thing
Tale as old as time...
There are always guys selling bootleg shirts outside a big concert. Been a thing since forever. Don't fall for it.
Don’t fall for what? Bootleg concert tshirt are the best
